I love the Riverview. It's a discount theater, but without the sticky floors, broken seats, and poor sound of so many "cheap seats," and with so much more character! The amphitheater seating means there's not a bad seat in the house. The huge, lit marquee and swanky lobby are an extra treat.

The ticket counter is small and for popular films the line often extends out the door and down the sidewalk, so be prepared. Rest assured, though; there are so many seats I've never seen it sell out.

The Riverview Theater is an excellent theater to get the "big screen" experience at rental prices. Occasionally they have movie marathon events, such as a day marathon of the Lord of the Rings movies where there is an opportunity to dress up like your favorite character, watch the trilogy in its entirety and they have pizza brought in for dinner purchase. The concession items are reasonably priced. It is located in a great neighborhood with a coffee-shop kitty corner from the theater. The theater is a classic. It is well-maintained and has ample stadium seating. Our family loves to go to the Riverview matinees for family friendly films.

best theater in the twin cities. you don't see first run movies, but you only pay 3 bucks. there are fewer previews, fewer punks, and more money for candy and popcorn. Great family place.

THey have 2nd Run movies here for a very good price. Snacks are cheap too, an old school movie theater from the early 1900's it seems like. They also show football and big bsketball games too. A real community institution...

This theater's decor is decidedly retro - most of the interior is close to original! Since the films are "second-run," the prices are super affordable. A great neighborhood cinema scene!

PROS: Cheap fun!

This little theater is located about 9 blocks from where we used to live. We always enjoyed walking there to see the movies. It is an older neighborhood, and I am so glad that they still have this theater open. They only charge $2.50 per ticket, and they only show one movie at a time. Just like in the olden days! If you feel that you can't afford to go to the movies, and you are in this neighborhood, go to this quaint little theater. Enjoy!

PROS: Quiet little neighborhood
CONS: older but just as good!

In my opinion, Riverview is one of the top movie theaters in the Twin Cities area. It has a unique and fun 1950's vibe to it. It's the only theater I've been to that has stadium seating. The movie selection is diverse and there's something for everyone. In addition, they have 'Late-Night Cimema', which features recent blockbuster hits (Napoleon Dynamite, Moulin Rouge, etc.), as well as old favorites (The Goonies, Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc.) You're getting a lot for your $2/$3! This theater really is one-of-a-kind!

PROS: cheap, fun atmosphere, good movie selection, late-night cinema
CONS:

Great neighborhood movie theater and great cheap theater.
$3.00 for a movie ticket and $2.00 for a matinee. It's an old theater but quite comfortable. I've noticed a lot of the time they will have a kids movie on for the matinee. I great, cheap thing to do with your kid when the weather is bad and you want to get out of the house for a bit.
