What more can you want? The guys that work there are always helpful. If they don't know about something they just look it up. I've rarely had trouble renting a movie that I was interested in seeing.

This is a little video store that tries to pack in all the mainstream new releases but also independent and foreign films. I've had trouble finding things there, but the staff were pretty helpful and I've been able to check out some movies that I couldn't find at a bigger chain store. One thing I like about it is that they don't require you to carry a card around--once you sign up, you just have to tell them your phone number when you rent something.

A somewhat average video store masquerading as an alternative indie, Video Forum is still good enough to keep you from the chain store and will provide you with a few obscure titles and foreign releases. As with most video stores these days, their selection is split between DVDs and videocassettes, so you'll need to look in both sections. The staff is a bit hit or miss when it comes to their knowledge of film and directors outside of the mainstream Hollywood realm so you need to come prepared with the name of the movie you want if it's a bit obscure. Still, if you are in Park Slope and you want to pop in for a quick movie, I would still support this store.
