A really pretty way to spend your day

by Patee F. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,255

A beautiful place to explore and get lost in the different gardens, especially the Japanese garden. Although I've been to bigger gardens like in Portland, Oregan and San Francisco, Ca this one will still be worth the trip. Weekday parking is free while the weekend is only $3's. They have clubs and garden classes you can join as well.

beautiful park

by Anonymous

Zilker is a beautiful park. It is near Lake Austin. There are huge space in the park. Many trees and flowers. You can enjoying walking in the park during the daytime. There are many activities held in Zilker park, like food festival, music festival. A good place to go during the weekend. The only complaint is they charge $5 for parking, not free! When there is an activity, the traffice is jammed!

Beauty in Austin

by Miranda M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,920

These Gardens are a wonderful way to spend the afternoon strolling and taking in fresh air. They have their Japanse tea gardens, with bamboo, and stone walkways along flowing water. They offer a section that is filled with various roses, a small pond area filled with extra large goldfish. Enjoy learning about native Texas plants and enjoy a peaceful walk along the paths under the shade of the trees. We always bring our camera and get wonderful pictures of the kids in this beautiful setting.

Most beautiful place around Austin!

by Kay A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,634

This place is so beautiful to visit, my husband and I almost got married in the Rose Garden there. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we have enjoyed going the couple of times we have gone over the years. The grounds are kept immaculate and are so beautiful. The location is great as it is close to great museums and other popular Austin attractions. It is close by The Austin Nature Center and Zilker Park as well as some great restaurants.

A great place to take pictures

by Angie M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,870

The botanical gardens are stunning. There are well maintained. I love to wait for the colorful flowers to bloom and take my daughter in to take pictures in front of the flowers. There are a lot of different varieties to see.

PROS: Gorgeous background for pictures

Beautifully landscaped year round

by Cathy M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,248

We have gone there in the spring, summer and fall. It is beautiful at all times. We had our wedding pictures taken by a waterfall, and despite the snake in the water, it was very nice. The employees with accommodate special occasions at a moments notice.

The gardens are the best maintained I have ever seen. We always go back there whenever we visit Austin.

zilker park is the best place to go!

by Anonymous

Zilker Park for Austin residents is just like Central Park for New Yorkers. Zilker Park is located near the downtown Austin. It provides the best recreation place for busy city people. People often go there to play all kinds of sports. Also, it holds Austin City Limits Music Festival every year. Dont forget the Moonlight Tower in the park.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!!!

by Katie D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,819

Zilker Gardens is gorgeous. I haven't been there in years but every time I have, it's been lovely. They often have festivals there and it's a great place for kids to run around and explore or play hide and seek. There are tons of ponds and springs running through the gardens. This is also a great place to take some fantastic pictures!
