Rodin Museum is a Must See

by Bob H. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,505

The Rodin Museum is truly only of Philadelphias most wonderful treasures. Although only a few blocks from the Art Museum, it is too often overlooked. It is the largest collection of Auguste Rodin's works outside of Paris, and is a must see for both locals and visitors.

Nice small museum for sculpture lovers.

by Mark D. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,107

It is a pleasant li'l museum with Rodin's sculptures. A beautiful facade featuring the Thinking Man sits in front. And it's donations only, so you can't beat that.

Just great!

by Romer M. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,789

If you go to Philly, you cant miss going to this museum it has ton's of Rodin's sculptures, any size, different techniques. The place is just beautiful, located in the museum area of Philadelphia, the building the entrance has a big garden that was being remodelled when I went there the last time, the front door is one of the bigests and most important sculptures made by Rodin "The Gates of Hell", it is just impresive... specially because took im like 27 years to finish this piece of art.

PROS: Great collection, cheap fee
CONS: None

Largest Rodin collection outside of Paris

by Debbie L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,239

Can't go to Paris? This is the next best thing. Housing the 2nd largest collection of Rodin's sculptures in the world, this museum shouldn't be missed if you love his work. Here you can find bronze castings, plaster studies, drawings, letters & even the work of the sculptor Camille Claudel, famously memorialized in the film of the same title. Sensuous figures embedded in marble & stone surrounded by lush gardens designed by French architect Jacques Greber will lure you back to this museum again & again. Admission is free, parking is easier than anywhere in the city thanks to the 12-hour meters lining the parkway, & most thrilling of all, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a few blocks away. Bring sneakers.

PROS: lush, dreamy gardens, magnificently designed space, free admission
