Camp Haluwasa is just okay

by Al B.

Kind of beat up. The place needs a good paint job. I do wonder how they train their staff? They seem very friendly but is that enough for 24 hour child care?

Camp Haluwasa is great

by Alison H.

Haluwasa is a wonderful place. There is never a dull moment while camping there, from the moment you wake up to the second you fall asleep.Tons of games, and activities occupy the campers at all times! The staff is great, and are only there to help your child(ren) have fun and accel on their religious walk.

overnight & day camp

by Marge T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 1,951

Send my children here for an overnight camp. They had a ball. They have swimming, boating, crafts, fishing, paintball target range, a zip line, they sing songs & play night games. The camp was very safe with excellent counsels. My kids a so much fun they want to go again this summer. The only down fall is the bathrooms. Could improve on them.

Terrific camping experience for kids

by Helen B. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,544

Last year was my granddaughter's first experience at being away from home for a whole week. She can't wait to go back there this year and has friends ready to go with her. It was both a good experience for her self esteem and for her Christian development.
Many years ago, her mother went to this camp so she felt comfortable sending Brianna there too.

The Ultimate Summer Camping Experience

by Michael E.

The two other reviews are both wrong. They have hot meals every day for the kids. My son loves Camp Haluwasa! The train runs great and they give camp tours, and they also give the kids a train ride through the bible with actors and all! New this year they added Paintball targets practice, a new 25' Climbing Wall, new Zipline, and a nature/animal show! All in All, Camp Haluwasa is the best kids camp around! My kids are all going there this summer. They offer overnight camp and they have a great Day Camp program! Visit them online at www.campingnj.com

a pretty nice place

by Terri M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,756

A little run down, the train doesn't work sometimes, the lake is brackish water. The staff are pretty nice people, although at times seem short with children who don't have good discipline. They are a Christian based camp that year use to have a live manger scene that you would ride the train through, not sure if they still do this. There is plenty to do, but be aware you are in the woods and ticks are plentiful, check your kids carefully when they return home daily. The price is compariable with daily costs of child care, and they have activities through out the day to keep the kids entertained. No food is provided, you must pack lunch and snack and drink for you own child(ren).

PROS: Woodsy setting for campers
CONS: kind of run down feeling, not well maintained

Great camp for kids

by Anonymous

My son went to Camp Haluwasa last year for 1 week during the summer. It is a religous camp and the kids not only learn and read from the bible, they also play alot of games and learn about each other. My son had a good time but wasn't thrilled about having to leave his gameboy at home! The camp offers alot of activities for the kids and on pick up day, they have a large barbecue for all the families and they put on a little show for the parents.

PROS: good for the kids
CONS: can't contact child while there
