I was very dissapointed when I went to lunch at Irvings in State College, PA. I felt as though the prices for food are outrageous. In addition, the line was extremely long. I was very dissapointed in the food I had ordered. The chicken caesar salad was bland and should not have cost $7 for the amount of salad provided.

Irving?s Bagels is a nice State College-only staple. This place should really be called ?Bagels and More? given that their selection of food includes way more than just bagels, which themselves are very good. I would recommend going here for any of your meals, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The staff is friendly and the food is very good.

This place is decent but the prices are way above normal. The bagels here are dough with a huge hole in the center and cannot compare to a real bagel (from NY). You can get plain bagel here with a 1/4lb of tuna fish for $3 but if you tell them you want a bagel with tuna on it (so they put it on) it will be $7. This is insane!

PROS:
CONS: WAY OVER PRICED!

Located right across from the Penn State campus, this coffee (+more) shop boasts wonderful bread, free wireless internet and enough food options to calm even the most ravenous stomach.

I would be lying if I said that I don't take advantage of their free wireless internet. I have, on more than one occasion, walked into Irvings, bought a cup of joe and sat at a table surfing the internet or studying for 8 hours. Their coffee is under $2 and there's plenty of seating.

They also make the closest thing to New York bagels in all of central PA (though that might not be saying much). They have wonderful loaves of bread and fresh cookies and cakes, all made from scratch.

If you want to eat at Irvings, say for lunch of dinner, you will be spending a pretty penny. Their food is far from cheap and a lot of it can be found at other places for much less. However, they have several things that can make a very pleasant meal. I, for one, am a fan of their tomato salad ($2 for a half-lb last time I was in). That on top of a plain (or whichever flavor of your choosing) bagel and cream cheese ($1.80) and a drink ($1.40) is a very pleasant meal for about $5.00.

The people that work there are very nice and accomodating and I never have eaten something that was unsatisfactory, but I must admit, it's the internet that keeps me going back.

PROS: easy to get to, free internet, wide food selection
CONS: pricey, noisy, crowded, lines
