Exercise extreme caution before allowing a Starwood Weimaraner to enter your life and your home. They will love you unconditionally and they will leave you long before their time. Starwood dogs are wonderful, sweet, gentle animals and what is occurring within their breeding lines is not the dog's fault. We have had the pleasure of opening our hearts and homes to two beautiful Starwood girls. However, both of our loving girls were taken from us as puppies (17 months and 10 months). Our girls were born of two different litters but, had the same lines on their fathers side.

To date, the breeder has not acknowledged that there is a problem within her breeding lines - when informed of the death of our second puppy the response we received was that the dog had been misdiagnosed and should have been checked for poisoning. We had testing done on our youngest girl and it was confirmed that she passed away due to complications from pneumonia which resulted in excessive clotting and eventual cardiac arrest. We did not request testing on our older girl because we truly believed it was a freak accident and nothing congenital.

In knowing their histories and in watching their illnesses progress, we are suspect and believe that both girls had the same congenital blood disorder (hyper-coagulation). To date we do not know if any of their litter mates are afflicted with the same condition. Our girls passed away very young and their litter mates are all under the age of three. Our puppies fates were sealed before they were even born and unfortunately, their litter mates and their unsuspecting owners could be faced with the same medical condition that is just waiting to present itself.

If you already own a Starwood Weimaraner, born 2009 or 2011 please have appropriate blood work done on your puppy. It is too late for our girls but, proper veterinary care could save the life of your beloved family member.

I left my 2 dogs for a long weekend. My dogs came home nervous and anxious. I also used their grooming services, which where unsatisfactory, the dogs came home smelling worse then when I had left them their. I have left my dogs at other facilities for a week or longer and have had no problems. I would not recommend this kennel.
