This was a solid place for a heavy winter meal. The service kind of sucks... the waitress seemed really stressed out and annoyed that she was working and barely stopped to take our order, let alone ask how everything was doing as the meal progressed. I had some clam chowder, which was delicious, and sampled some of my boyfriend's steak - it was decent, definitely better than we could have cooked but not outstanding or anything. I hear their 80s night is pretty fun as well. Good selection of beer.

I had a perfectly poured Guiness and the most delicious fish and chips I've ever had for lunch. We sat on the patio on a beautiful day and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I can't wait to try it out at night for after work drinks and dinner.

I always have fun here. Not only is the Irish music good, but the bar also has 80s/90s bands. A perfect place to bring friends and spend the night out. The bartenders are *decent* for such a busy place, but once you make yourself a regular, drinks are easy to come by. What I like most about the Burren is the layout. There is ample room to sit, dance, talk, etc

I used to live down the street so needless to say, I frequented this place pretty often. The beer is always good (they actually clean the lines...amazing!) and the food is pretty darn good too. the mussels are some of the best inthe area (i miss them!) and the portions are supreme!
always a great place to hang early evening. weekends get a little nuts for me but that's the way it goes.

I love this place. It definitely is as authentic as you can get for an Irish pub. A lot of the bartenders and bouncers are actually from Ireland, and I don't think I can remember a time I've been there when I haven't heard at least one Irish accent among the people in front of the bar as well. I recently found out that the owners actually live in Ireland, so I suppose that's part of the reason why it's so legit. The live music in the front is consistently good, and the beer selection is great. The atmosphere is really warm and cozy, and at Christmas time they put up a lot of decorations and lights, which makes it feel like a movie set or something. The food is also pretty good, a little more on the average side and they have a relatively small menu, but it's cheapish. The only downside--and I suppose you get this at any bar--is that they won't let you sit at the tables until 9:00 if you're not getting dinner. Normally that wouldn't be that big of a deal, but since it feels more like a pub in there than a restaurant, it's a little annoying. Otherwise, though, it's great. One thing to note if you're a veggie-burger lover: they fry their veggie burgers, and they're not quite like any other one I've had. They're good, just different. It can just be a little unexpected the first time.

No better Irish bar outside of Boston Propper---at least not that i've found! Lot's of live music, Irish and otherwise, and on Tuesday nights (i think) they even have Irish Step-dancing lessons in the back. Great pints, great accents. It's Boston, it's Ireland, and it's right there in Davis Square!!

If you're looking for Live Irish music then you gotta check out the Burren. I never like paying a cover in Davis sq. with The Joshua Tree, Redbones and Orleans nearby, but the Burren has a one of a kind atmosphere. There are two rooms. The first is a kind of gathering area with a good bar. The second is where the music is at with room for dancing or whatever it is a bunch of grads and undergrads do to Irish music. This place is jumping every St. Patrick's Day morning.

One of the constants in Boston for me over the past 5 years is guaranteed great time at the Burren on Thursday night's. Not for the Irish music being played in the front room or the thickly-accented and friendly bartenders, but the 80's cover band the Swinging Johnsons playing in the back room It is always packed, espeically when the Tuft's students are in session, but it is worth it. I want the Swinging Johnson's to play at my wedding. They are that good.

Great pint of Guinness! Spent the last 3 St. Paddy Days at the Burren and will be back for more. Great Irish music in the front room. Can get a bit crowded.

Pros: Belly up and order a pint; close to the T; plenty to eat and drink in the area

Cons: Usually over-crowded

I used to hang out here all the time when I lived in Somerville after college. The Guinness is always fresh and well poured. The music is great at night and there is always a great group of people singing and talking. Their Sunday brunch is phenomenal - especially if you like an Irish breakfast.

I like this place on Thursdays for the 80s band. Its crowded then but a good time. They have some good beers on tap too. Don't really know if its fun on the weekend. But a good time on Thursdays.

The live music in the back room makes the Burren awesome for starting off a fun night. The authentic Irish servers and their cute accents add to the overall feel of an Irish pub experience. Good ales, good food. Gets a little crowded on the week-ends so get there early.

I can't think of a single place I'd rather drink a Guinness. Friendly staff, exceptional music, esp. Thursday nights. In my opinion the food is underrated. Healthy mix of nearby college crowd and older folks looking for great atmosphere. Always festively decorated - you never have to wait long to place your order. Top notch in my opinion.

TheBurren is simply the best Irish bar in the New England.......I can say this because I have been to most of them. It is one step from being back in Ireland....Food, Atmosphere. Beer, it doesn't get any better!!!

Without a doubt one of the best bars in Boston. When visitors come into town they are all looking for the quintescential "Boston Irish Pub" and this is it. Always great music in the back room, always a good crowd with a mix of young, old, townies, yuppies. You can arrive in cut-offs or a suit...doesn't matter. Also the Swinging Johnsons on Thursday nights are always a fun cover band.

The Burren is a great Pub that really makes you feel like you're in County Cork. They pour a great pint of Guinness and the live music in the back is generally great. Definitely NOT a pick-up bar though . .. unless you're into Tufts' sophmores.

The $25 for paddy's day was necessary because the place was just the right amount of crowded. If they charged $5 it would have been out of control.
