We adopted our dog Gracie 9 months ago, and since her previous owners took her there, we did the same. The staff remembered her and her previous owners even after a few months. We first went in for some stomach issues. Dr. Shanan's ""bedside manner"" was very gentle and kind. He did not over-diagnose or over-prescribe, in fact, he recommended the cheapest option first, because it was the most likely, and he was correct.\r\n\r\nEventually, Gracie was diagnosed with untreatable cancer, and we had to put her to sleep. The staff was very empathetic, and Dr. Shanan gave my wife and I big hugs, even though we had only been going there a short time.\r\n\r\nWe will take our new dog Maggie there, even though it is across the city from where we live now, and we have a new vet across the street. They are worth the trek!

Pros: Friendly, knowledgable staff, amazing doctors
Cons: Across the city from where I live
My cat Brody suffered for a long time. We tried help him by taking him to several specialists and putting him on different medication trials. Brody was always agitated and upset. He couldn't relax and never seemed comfortable. After a year and a half of agonizing over what to do, we finally decided to talk to Dr. Shanan. \r\n\r\nWe knew that Dr. Shanan had a lot of experience with end of life consultations. We discussed Brody's quality of life and after a lot of crying we decided to put him to sleep. It was one of the hardest things my husband and I have ever done.\r\n\r\nI was nervous about my decision as the doctor gave the sedative. After a few seconds, Brody completely relaxed in my husband's arms. Then he started purring with his little kitty head on his shoulder. When we were ready, the doctor gave the second ""shot"" and we said goodby to Brody forever. \r\n\r\nI still miss him. I always miss him. I know I made the right decision.
