starbucks is great, but caribou is better. The number one reason i say, is that there are usually more people lounging around at caribou, and i like that. The single most important reason i go to caribou is to drink coffee AND use free wifi and surf the internet. At starbucks and other spots you have to pay for internet and i think that... that is waay overrated now a days. Internet should be free and at caribou it is, that's why i take my business to caribou. Also they have outlets so you can plug in your laptop.

Pros: free internet, power sockets for laptops, great artistic environment

Cons: sometimes not enough power sockets

Pros: deeeeelicous coffee. better than starbucks.

Great coffee drinks - great atmosphere. I first went to one in Chapel Hill, NC, and fell in love - they later became a chain, but still have that down-homey feel that's so important for a coffee shop.

it is a shame more 'Bous aren't around, because they are welcome oases from the yupped-out Starbucks and even the independent coffeehouses downtown. yeah, they're a chain, but i don't think that matters if they're brewing the best coffee around. even if you're not a straight-up coffee fan, their vanilla coolers are amazing and, sadly, addictive. even if the coffee was the same quality as anywhere else, the atmosphere alone is worth going in for... it's cozy, warm, and completely unpretentious (as, generally, is the staff). i am a devoted customer!

Pros: comfortable, never snobby, delicious

Cons: sometimes pricey

OKAY, I AM A STARBUCKS-AHOLIC, AND HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS. I EVEN LOVE THE URBAN SETTING-IT IS SO MY STYLE...BUT I FELL IN LOVE WITH CARIBOU THE MOMENT I STEPPED INSIDE.
THE COMFY, OVERSIZED FURNITURE AND LOG CABIN-APPEAL WELCOME YOU AND I COULDN'T HELP BUT FEEL LIKE I WAS ON THE SET OF "FRIENDS". WHAT A COOL HANG OUT!! EVEN HAS A COZY FIRE PLACE. LOVE THIS PLACE...AND THE COFFEE IS GREAT TOO.

Pros: INTIMATE & COZY, GOOD COFFEE, GREAT HANG OUT

Cons: COFFEE? OVERPRICED?, CAN BE CROWDED

Caribou Coffee is the best company ever invented and everyone that has access to one should visit it every single day. The service is great, the employees are great, and the product is fabulous! Keep up the good work, and as a side note, it should definately be rated higher than 9th!!! I LOVE THE 'BOU!!

Pros: Great service, Friendly employees, great product

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS BETTER THAT COMERCIALIZED STARBUCKS ANYDAY.
THE SPICED HOT CHOCOLATE IS DELISH' AND TURTLE BROWNIES ARE TO DIE FOR.
ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH LOCATIONS IN THE CITY.

Caribou has the best tasting coffee... period! I'm a coffee junkie and I've tried Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Kafein (in Evanston), Seattle's Best... you name it! I don't know about the downtown locations, but I usually go to the one in Schaumburg (Roselle Rd.) and the one on Algonquin, just north of Golf Rd.

Pros: brewed coffee, specialty coffee, whole beans
