I tried Van Ball's brats about 6 years ago and fell in love instantly!! I have never ever liked brats.........until........Van Ball's! I try freezing them to save them, but we eat a 10 bag in less than a week! The thing I love the most is that Van Ball's is family owned! Everyone is so nice and helpful and all of their meat is soooo delicious!! Van Ball's rocks!!

where I go when i need the best..... and wanting to impress.... I have been going there since I was old enough to walk 2 blocks from my house. That was 43 years ago and the original owners. It has the exact same quality as it did when I was a kid. A quick party trick is to purchase a selection of there smoked sausages, bring them home and slice cracker thickness. Then have them slice sandwich thick some of their baby swiss, buy a box of crackers and taa daaa you have your self the best appetizer for any party.. The guys love it.....

Perhaps the best purveyor of prime beef in Grand Rapids!! Superb service and they are always ready to help with cooking suggestions. Think now about buying your Christmas prime rib and having Van Balls dry age the meat for a month. It is well worth it for the melt in your mouth texture and intricate flavor!
I am from Milwaukee and used to work for a meat wholesaler before Uncle Sam called me to serve. I have tasted what I thought were the best bratwurst made by Milwaukee's premier wurstmeisters.
It took moving to Grand Rapids to have the absolute BEST brat, homemade at Van Balls. Prepare them the Milwaukee way (soak at room temperature in beer and onions for a couple hours then bring to a boil. Immediately place on a hot grill to brown each side. Assemble on a bun with mustard and raw onions for the most satisying experience you can have with clothes on.

I have had a great experience with Van Ball's. We had their brats (pre-cooked). We bought a bunch of them and thought we would be freezing some, but it didn't happen. We couldn't stop eating them! I will only go here and Frank's market in downtown G.R. for my meat.

This past weekend I went to Van Balls Meat Market for the first time. It is a little market but their meat is great. I was very pleased with all of it. ( Great marinated steak, chicken and Steak and chicken ka-bobs) It is owned by a family, their children work their with them. They are all super friendly. The store is small but their meats and the service is great.

Van Balls Prime Beef is a really good meat market located in the Northtown Shopping Center on Plainfield. They have really great cuts of meat there. Their prices are decent, not anymore than a major store but the meat is really fresh. They do all of their cutting and stuff there. I have loved everthing I have gotten there, great tasting. It is a family owned business.

Very good meat. They are willing to prepare at request almost anything. Great for parties. Friendly service.
Pros: good cuts and selection
Cons: Not open 24/7
