I entered laugh lounge last friday. The host of the show was Wil Slyvince. The comedians that night were Mike Yard, Michael Troy, and Imagine. All four of them were really funny. I really enjoyed the show, much more than anticipated.
The show took place in the basement of the lounge. Personally, i think the space was a little too small for the amount of people there were. The tables/audience members were too close together, but i was glad my assigned table allowed me to have my back against the wall.

This was my first comedy club i've ever been to and i loved it. i went on 08/02/08 to the better then chocolate show at 1230. When you first walk in they greet you and you walk into a nice lounge. We waited in the lounge untill we were called to go downstairs. Downstairs wasnt as nice as i thought it would be but still comfortable. The comedians were very funny. Im definitely going back.

This is my first time posting on CitySearch but after seeing a show at the Laugh Lounge I had to recommend it! If you're looking for a super fun time on the L.E.S. check out this comedy club. The comics are great, the drinks are flowing, and you will def. have a blast.

I've been to Laugh Lounge twice, once with my girlfriend and once with a large group for a birthday outing. Both times were a blast. The bar area is quiet but trendy and the bartender was great. The bar area gets a bit crowded right before showtime, so it's worthwhile to get there a bit early and enjoy the lounge area.

The shows are fantastic. Both times we were laughing from start-to-finish. And no need to worry about the traditional 'pick-on-the-audience' comedy. These guys have great material of their own. They do a great job of getting the audience involved without much grating.

At the end of the show, it's refreshing to have a bar area to congregate and have a drink while sorting out the gameplan for the remainder of the evening.

All-around a great time at Laugh Lounge and highly recommended for folks looking for something different than traditional nights on the town in NYC!

Great selection of beers. Good bar food. Service sub par - even for an area that totally caters to the theatre crowd and tourist. I was there with a very attactive female friend and the service was almost non existent. I can understand them ignoring me (a middle aged male) but come on - a nice looking lady with any empty glass....hello!!!!

Tanya28 has a review, but it's not at all true...
I am the comedian in question in the previous article. My name is TuRae..The Laugh Lounge is a premier New York City comedy club. It has wonderful decor and a cozy theater area. It is located in the Village close to a thriving New York nightlife! The evening in question began as most comedy shows do, the host Wil Sylvince entertains the crowd, and escorts the acts to the stage. This particular night I did "watch" the table full of ladies at the table because they were loud and disruptive the ENTIRE night!!!! Every comic had to adress them numerous times! The host eventually gave up talking to them and just tried to bring the acts on stage. The comedian before me, Gerald Kelly ended up doing a 30 min set instead of his allotted 15 mins because he kept getting distracted by this table of women on their girls night out. i was the last comic to take the stage.. Anyone who has ever seen me knows this....I am a professinal comedian! i don't need the crowd to help me with my jokes, carry on a conversation, or try to do arithmetic at the front table trying to tally up their tab on my shift! I immediately tried to ignore this table and go on with my set, but then they started talking LOUDLY about the bill, I asked them to simmer down, and i'll be done in 5 minutes. They continued, and I teied to make a joke about them paying them tab, and it was,"..Just cause you broke..."..Something to that effect..So, you have been warned! I'm sorry i'm not the "Your mama so fat.." comedian; i fi want you to be quiet, imma say "shut the f&^k up" but only after NUMEROUS warnings and sidebars. Every patron in the building gave my declaration a round of applause. Every person leaving shook my hand and said, "Thanks for telling those chicks to shut up." So , You may have been embarrased, but don't become a liar also. You were disruptive and loud, and this is a comedy club, not a bar. Check me out on HBO's Def Comedy Jam...I'm so broke!!!!

The atmosphere was amazing. The setup was priceless but the last comedian Turae Gordon was a total, disrespectful, a**hole. A couple of my coworkers and I headed out to the city for a girls night out. This was our first time visiting the Laugh Lounge; we were very impressed with all of the comedians. We had a good time and expected the night to end on a good note, but when the last comedian went on the stage he was shouting "Shut the F*ck Up. I watched this table all night (referring to our table) and I am not that dude. I can see your a** outside this show if ya'll don't shut the f*ck up." I mean we were having a good time laughing and enjoying the show until Mr. Gordon got on the stage. I was disgusted by the way he spoke to us and how he threatened to see us after the show. Although, I had a good time for the most part, I will never return to the Laugh Lounge again! I refuse to allow some low class, broke a** comedian disrespect me. I don't think you should ever have Turae back. He has no respect for women nor the establishment. . I will never recommend the Laugh Lounge to anyone, in fear that they might get disrespected as well. We were paying patrons who deserved to have a good time and not leave with a bad taste in or mouth, which ruined the rest of the evening.

Last night was crazy! My friends and I went out to celebrate my cousin's birthday and we just wanted a big fun group place. We heard good things about Laugh Lounge...it was supposed to be hip, nice people, really comfortable New York not touristy comedy so we decided to go. We were late and they were nice and still let us come for the next show even though we were a big group and they were very accommodating. Then we're sitting there in their beautful bar and in walks CHRIS TUCKER!!!!! He hung out at the bar. Took pictures with us and then performed during the show for 30 minutes! It was off the hook! He even said happy birthday to my cousin from the stage. It was great. We're definitely going back.

I was expecting the same old when my friends told me we were doing the comedy night out...expensive drinks, cramped showroom where you couldn't even cross your legs, overpriced drinks and rude comedians. I was thus amazed by Laugh Lounge. The location is great on the Lower East Side...it was a fun happening neighborhood. The place was small and intimate, but beautiful with a nice lounge and even nicer staff. We waited upstairs and were able to hang out comfortably on nice couches and talk without feeling cramped or pressured. We went downstairs for the show and even though the space was not as plush as upstairs, it was kind of cool in a funky way. Once the lights went down and the show began though, I realized that it was one of the best locations to see a show I've been to. You are right there with the comics. It is like being back stage. All 4 people were great...especially the host. I loved it and am already planning a trip back!

Comedians in this club are horrible. The jokes were beyond stupid, one comedian actually thought it was funny when he said, ?I will get l.id tonight because I?m a r.pist? or ?I f... my dog like a human?. Cocktails were really bad as well; my cocktail was full of water and no alcohol at all it tasted like seltzer water with hint of sweetness. Over all, my husband and I had bad experience and we would never go back there again.

When we first walked into Laugh Lounge we were impressed by the lounge area, the red dim lights (nice touch), the bar was sparkling...nice. 15 minutes later, we were called for the show, the downstairs was less impressive but the acts made up for it. This was my first time at any comedy club and although I am not an expert those guys last night were funny!! I was suffering from a root canal infection that was drilling through my brain, and I don't drink so all odds of a good time were against me, the host was great, the three comics were funny and they made me forget about my pain. Thanks and I'll be back for more.

hello, my name is william and i would like to extend an invite to you and your friends to a night of comedy and upscale atmispheir at the Laugh Lounge Comedy Club. Let me tell you how great this comedy club is. Usualy when i went to a comedy club their was a feeling of rush, (a.i. "hurry up and get a drink, watch the show and get out!"), that made me uneasy and ready to go somewhere eles to hang out for the rest of the evening. I really didn't care about staying at the club and trying to talk to the comics that i liked in the show. Neither did my date's. Lets just say that I didn't go out on any 2nd date's. The other thing that burned me with the date's was that i had to shell out $125, ($30 cover charge and a2drink minimum) per person. A good friend told me about this new and hot comedy culb, the Laugh Lounge, when i was dating my now fiancee and I imeadetly fell in love with the comedy club sceen again. Now i spread the word about this wonderfull establishment. I invite you and everyone you know that likes comedy to the club. My bill came out to $45 and after the show me and my lady chilled out in the lounge. We actualy met a famous comic and pounded back acouple a beer's with said comic. What a night!!! I want everyone in da hood to come out and share my experience.

I usually never write reviews but I had such an amazing tme that I want to take the time and let people know about this gem! This club is beautiful. The lounge is gorgeous. The drinks were great and well priced and there were free chicken wings that were delicious. The show was downstairs and it was great from start to finish. I was crying I laughed so hard. The host was nice and he remembered everyone's names. There were 4 comics who each had their own style and the comedy was smart and witty. My friend told me that one of them was regularly on Comedy Central and VH1 Remote Control. They gave me great passes to come back and get in for free which I can't wait to use. I'm planning my return trip right now!

Easily the worst, most offensively bad comedy I've ever had the misfortune to witness. Not one comic had an act that did not include the cheapest form of comedy known to man, namely picking on the audience. I took a group of Irish people there and the best these so called comics could do to make us laugh was to make some lame references to; hating the English, drinking a lot and of course fighting. A nine year old could be more original. There were possibly five or six smileable jokes all evening, that's it. How in the name of God this place ever got a good review for comedy I do not know. Oh and talking about sexual matters is not in and of itself funny guys.

The bar upstairs is nice. The downstairs area is a bare basement with tables and chairs.

Recently I had the pleasure of catching a late comedy set at the Laugh Lounge. Almost 2 1/2 hrs of non-stop laughter. My date and I were happy with our seats ( which we were able to choose ) and our drinks were very much to our liking. I've told many of my friends that if they want to do something different other than the usual: dinner, movie etc. That thye should get there butts down to the Laugh Lounge. Guaranteed a good time will follow.

Pros: Great comedy, Good crowd, Good drinks

Cons: none, none, none

We went on a rainy night and what a pleasure it was not to have to wait outside to get in! The lounge is beautiful and spacious. Its a great pre-show place to meet friends and relax with a drink. A big change from the sardines in a can feel of some other clubs.

All the comedians were very, very funny. One of my friend laughed so hard they were sore from laughing after the show. We all had a great time!

Very cool place to hangout - even better are the top shelf comics.
I've been quite a few times and have always had a blast!

A group of us came for happy hour on my birthday and a great time. The atmosphere was relaxed and not pretentious at all. The complimentary buffalo wings on Friday night in the lounge area made us feel welcome. The bartender made wicked drinks and played great music. Best of all, I got to meet and buy drinks for some of my favorite comics that I've seen on Comedy Central and Chappelle's show. For great, low key fun in a cool neighborhood, I'd highly recommend Laugh Lounge. It is not like the cramped, stuffy older clubs.

The COMICS were CRUDE, VULGAR and not FUNNY.The drinks were watered down. What a waste of an evening. There are better Comedy clubs in the city. Don't waste your time.

A great downtown place to see comedy or just have a drink in the lounge. Especially nice becuase most comedy clubs dont have a place to have drinks before or to linger after the show.

Pros: Good comedy, Nice bar

I've been to all the comedy clubs around town and love this new joint for its strong line up of women and minority comics. I get bored of the misogynist frat boy routines and there's none of that here. It's really friendly, laid back and the stand up is EXCELLENT!

Kudos to the folks at Laugh Lounge for creating a terrific nightlife "clubhouse". The bar alone is a destination -- great room, good music, good drinks, and a no-attitude staff. And you can have a conversation. The comedy club downstairs is a cool room that has been booking some very impressive talent. This is NOT, repeat NOT, your typical comedy club.

Great atmosphere with a cool bar upstairs to just hang out at regardless of whether you see the show or not! Downstairs the performance space feels like you've stepped into a beatnik scene--underground performance with an edge! You can actually sit comfortably in this comedy club and not feel like a sardine. Check it out!
