I started going to Knapps when I moved here in 1990.
I was extremely happy with the care my animals had gotten through the years.
Dr. Paul was wonderful to me through the tough times of having to treat terminally ill babies in my family. He even gave me his home phone when I had a really sick one, and talked me through making the decision it was time to let her go.
This past year I decided to change vets because I've seen a hike in prices, lack of willingness to work with me for making payments over time, and an overall lack of emphathy towards my animals. I realize that vets are in business to make money, yet due to the cost of even simple treatments, it is hard to come up with the cash at the time of treatment. I have always paid them in full when they previously worked with me -
I have a history of 18+ years with Knapps-- and yet was asked for my drivers license when I paid by check!! (never had a bounced check!)
I found different opinions and treatments when one cat was seen by two different doctors (original not available for follow-up)...which was very confusing. Dr. Robert (original) had recommended many different expensive tests for my old girl -- and after discussing them in detail on follow-up visit with a different vet, it was recommended to me that some were not needed due to her health and age.
I appreciate the candor of the second visit/different vet -- I came away thinking that Dr. Robert was only looking to make money!
Dr. Lori is good -- but when I needed to get in to see her ASAP, she is often booked.
Overall, it was a hard decision to make. I am a very loyal person. It took me a few years to make the decision, but I am glad that I did.
I am extremely happy where I am now going -- they remind me of Knapps years ago.

There is a reason that Knapp Vet Hospital has been in business for over 60 years. The new facility is wonderful and the staff are very competent and caring. You should trust in the work they do and know they are looking out for the best interest of your beloved 4 legged family member. Dr. Paul is hard to get to see since he is semi-retired but his son Dr. Robert Knapp is awesome. I trust him completely. I have never had a negative experience with ANY of the veterinarians at Knapp Vet.

Our family has been going to Knapp for over three generations and have been happy with them up until last year. The service level and quality of the care has fallen.

I do not feel they focus on getting to know the animals and put caring for the pets and the owners in first perspective.

I do not feel the care my pets received was in line with what we paid. The cost was out of line!

Also they charge $47.50 to just look at your pet!

I use to at Knapp's for a bout a year. Dr Robert was so mean and nasty. He would call his employee's names if they were not able to hold down a down by themselves. Then just this past week i got word that a great Vet Tech that worked there had pasted away. I called my friend to get the info about his viewing and was told that Dr Robert told his employees that if they call off for the viewing then they will be fired. THAT IS MESSED UP!!!! WHY WOULD U NOT CLOSE DOWN EARLY FOR A EMPLOYEE THAT WORKED FOR UR OFFICE FOR 25 YEARS???? DR ROBERT U NEED TO GROWN A HEART AND SEE THAT IF SOMEONE GAVE 25 YEARS OF HIS LIFE TO U AND UR COMPANY THEN U NEED TO LET HIS FRIENDS WHO LOVED HIM OFF WORK (WITH OUT GETTING FIRED OR WROTE UP) TO MORN HIS DEATH AND REJOICE HIS LIFE!

I worked at this Hospital for a few years and trust all of the Vets with my two dogs. My daughter works at another Vet Hosp in my area and I have the option to receive discounted Veterinary care at that Hosp for my pets. I choose to pay full price for the excellent care provided to my pets and have no regrets. I have had the chance to get to know these Veterinarians, technicians and receptionists and I know how well they care for all of the pets that that pass through their doors (not just employees pets). The charges for pet care are very reasonable (call around for yourself). No well or emergency care is ever given without the owners consent---ever. An estimate is also given up front. A rabies vaccination has to be given with a yearly physical exam for your pets safety and they do offer a multiple pet discount. I have had two major surgeries done to my dogs there and the cost was less than half of what it would have cost elsewhere. I am always told up front what the charges will be and no services are performed that aren't needed. The Vets at Knapp are very compassionate and capable and I will continue to take my babies to them. Thank you to everyone at their Hospital for years of excellent care.

I have been taking my pets to Knapp's for a couple of years now and I love it! The doctors are all really nice and truely care about my pet's well-being. When my dog was attacked by my neighbors dog they were so helpful, and were able to get me in quickly! So if your looking for a vet who cares, you should really consider going to Knapp's! They've only been around for like some 60 YEARS, so obviously they are doing something right!!!

Called Knapps and ask if they had the staff and facilities to treat an injured cat which had bee hit by a car. They assured they competent and able. Upon arrival they said x-ray's would cost an additional $100. After looking at the x-rays they suggested that I would be better served to take the cat to OSU. Cost was $192.50 (for what?)

I would not recommend this hospital, unless you enjoy being gouged !!!

I took my female Rottie into this vet to have a artificial insemination done 6 weeks later I had to have her put down due to a mass infection in her vaginal cavity wall, plus she was so anemic she needed multiple blood transfusions and then having this infections for 6 weeks her body was having a hard time fighting it off. my regular vet does not do artificial insemination so I took my female here. when I took this dog to my regular vet and did blood work and xrays there were no pups. I have owned this female her mother and 3 out of 4 of her grandparents and none of them every had vaginal infections ever. This female was only 3 years old. she had a litter of 10 pups before with no problems. my suggestion do not take your dog here to have a artificial insemination done. also this vet clinic did a physical and vaginal smear before the insemination there was no infection and the dog was in excellent health. so you can come to your own conclusion on what went wrong.

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, all of whom have been treated by Knap Vets. Dr. Knapp (sr.) is excellent but the hospital is getting too big as one feels like an anonymous number in the care of any doc other than Knapp himself. I suspect continuity of care will be a problem in the future as well. Additionally, we've found their prices to be excessive as there is no multiple pet discount. The hospital also assesses room fees for something as routine as a rabies shot--- my friend brought her dog in for his yearly and was charged 50 bucks for a tech to administer the shot to him in a room, the entire process taking about 5 minutes. I have another friend who brought his cat in for a serious health condition and set a $200 cap on everything--- if they were considering going over, then the staff needed to talk to him about it--- needless to say the staff never informed him and he left with a bill for 1000 bucks and still didn't know what was wrong with his kitty. we too have experienced a bunch of big bills from the hospital which as compared to other clinics are exorbitant. we have concluded these large bills with room fees and doctor fees on them to be the knapp vet excuse for clients paying for their fancy addition and new technologies. We sincerely believe that their quality of care has been forfeited and hope to, with this post, notify others of our experience.

PROS: Dr. Knapp (sr.) rocks!
CONS: Good luck getting in to see him!

i had to pick up my friends cat from here after getting spayed and they had her in the aiting room which was for pets only! there was the regular waiting room for the owners with their pets but if you had to go to work and pick up the pet later they could keep it for you! i thought that was so neat. and no worries..they had several pet sitters so none of the animals were attacked by others!

I got my cat at animal welfare, and this was one of the places that they offered for her spaying. I also wanted to get her declawed in the front, and they offered lazer surgery (a lot less painful for the cat and cleaner) that was pretty reasonable compared to other vets. Their facility is big and friendly, and my only complaint was that one of the vet techs was totally out of it when I checked her out, didn't set up another appointment for her to get her paws checked, and didn't give me any instructions on her care. Otherwise, all the other techs I've dealt with were more than competent.

PROS: Big, clean and friendly waiting area
CONS: Ditzy tech, but the rest were fine
