This Company is run by Steven Saidman and he has what we call now, stolen our dress. His deceitful practices are no doubt evil. He lies impulsively and god know what he may have done/doing to our dress. He claims that we have not paid for the services and therefore does not send the dress back but after multiple and I mean MULTIPLE Emails and Texts and Calls he avoids us at all costs and claims that our card does not go through in the transaction. Nice try buddy the bank would have told us if you attempted to make a charge. We gave him the benefit of the doubt but now we perused a claim to the Attorney Generals office In Maryland where he refused to mediate with. We are now exploring other options and will file a police report for what is now stolen property.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN YOU WILL NOT SEE YOUR DRESS BACK.

BEWARE! There are very few things I regret in my life, as I have wonderful family, an excellent job, and I am fortunately in good health. Our wedding was beautiful and the vendors were fantastic. However, entrusting my wife??s gorgeous wedding dress with this faade of a business was a disastrous mistake. I implore you to take your business elsewhere. To be honest, I??m a fairly laid back individual, and this experience has been upsetting. The service is pathetic. I can only assume that in the past this business was somewhat respectable. However, the current owner, Steve, runs a poor business. This individual is a charlatan. A wedding is an important occasion, and you don??t need this individual getting involved. They did not adequately clean the dress. Moreover, to obvious observation they ruined the dress. This was a very expensive gown. My father, a retired police officer, and mother went to discuss the matter with management. They were extremely rude, yelled obscenities, and threw my elderly parents out of the store. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they have multiple cases of a similar nature pending against them. Please, Please, if you want your wife/daughter to be happy or for your own peace of mind, use another vendor. Please do your research on this company! I cannot stress this enough. I hope you all have a better experience and wonderful weddings.

Steve and Imperial Gown Restoration, completely ruined my $10,000 Monique Llhulier wedding gown, which I paid $600 to have "cleaned." Not only was the dress NOT clean, but it has multiple new stains/burns and is falling apart. Needless to say, it is damaged beyond repair. Their service is deplorable and Steve is a nightmare!! He is irrational, was irate and called me names as well as yelled at my in-laws who attempted to rectify the situation. As others have said, I regret not seeing these reviews sooner and believed I was paying such high $ for a high end service, which I was guaranteed by Steve. I believe this business is a scam, preying on brides who want the best for their gowns to which they have sentimental attachment. His "guarantee" of reimbursement, should anything go wrong, is a lie! When I discussed this guarantee with him and my desire to be reimbursed due to the irreversible damage, he accused me of damaging it and said he "improved it." Stay away from this man and this business...it is, as others have said, BAD NEWS!!!

It is such a shame that I didn't see these terrible reviews of Imperial Gown before I sent my wedding gown for cleaning and preservation In April 2010. Not only did I spend $500+ but I waited 5 months to get a monogram that never happened. I had to call this 'Steve" character several times during the spring and summer months to see what was the hold up as I was expecting my dress and accessories to come back to me in tip top shape with a custom monogram sewn in to the underside of my gown. First story this Steve told me was that the monogram guy was backed up and very slow. He offered to send it back to me minus the monogram and monogram charge. I told him I would like to have it done and I would wait it out. A couple of months later, I had to call again and see what was the hold up (Why should I have to call and track down my gown?!) Steve then told me that the monogram guy was no longer with them. I had no idea why he would still be holding my gown if there was no one to do this monogram. I told him to send it to me immediately. Now it's September and I get my dress back- in a box that is crushed. I am not happy with the packaging and began to get very nervous of what the inside looks like. After putting on gloves and setting up a clean and open space, I open the preservation box. I carefully lift my dress out and lay it on my bed. The entire front of my satin skirt has vertical pulls that were not there when I had sent it in!!! I turned the dress over to find my buttons loose and with stains that I had written about (they were only cake stains!! no blood no wine nothing!!) My lace trim still had loose threads and pulls as well as the bodice's cluster of rhinestones. My bag, my shoes and garter were all wrapped in single sheets of tissue paper and stuffed in the bottom of the box. I proceeded to call Steve the next day and he got very snippy with me about the pulls in my skirt saying that satin is a very delicate fabric and you should be very careful when wearing it/dancing, etc. He then told me it couldn't of happened during cleaning, that I had done it. I told him I am sending my dress back and it needed to be fixed. Nowhere in the notes and comments did I write about any type of pulls in my satin skirt. I was very specific in what stains and problems there were with the dress. First and foremost I am not one to clean the floor with my gown and second how dare this Steve not take responsiblity for ruining my wedding gown. I spent most of the reception taking pictures and greeting guests and I think I danced once. I was extremely careful with my gown and hung it up immediately after I took it off. I studied that gown's flaws and wrote down everything I saw when sending it to Imperial Gown. September I sent it back with a two page letter which described the damage that was done to the gown and box. I called a couple of weeks later asking Steve if he received my gown. He said not yet and he would call when he did. I received no call. January I call again - where is my gown Steve?! I can not believe the nerve of this man and this company that you have to track them down to have them fix what they destroyed!! Steve got snippy again and said his computer was off and to call again the next day between 12 and 3. A family emergency kept me from calling back until the next week at which Steve got extremely rude on the phone telling me I did not read my contract and that nothing was done to fix the gown, that they just put it in a new box. (?!) Immediately he got very defensive and started to talk to me like I was a child that was bad. I asked to not speak to me in that tone as I am a paying customer and have waited almost a year to get back my gown to be properly taken care of. He then said I need to look at my contract and that I would have to talk to his lawyer. As his voice was raised at me, I raised mine right back. I told him I want my dress back immediately and that I would take this matter to the Better Business Bureau and hung up. He then called back and said if I contacted the BBB he would have to charge me more money-are you kidding me?! I told him I want my dress back now. So now I have my dress back and have taken pictures of myself opening the outer box (which was damaged and was the same one from the original mailing) and the damage to the dress and unfinished work. And then I realize he took my sewn in bra and cut it out of the dress and never put it back. The first time the gown was delivered to me it was still sewn in. This company is bad news with a capital B. I every intent to bring this shady Steve and company down with speaking to the BBB and Consumer Affairs. I also advise all brides who have ever brought their gowns to this place to do the same. The more people that come forward, the less people Imperial Gown can hurt. Such a scam!

Steve Saidman and Imperial Gown Restoration were contracted to clean and restore my wedding gown in Jan of 2009. He's very charming and helpful when he's trying to get a sale. I explained all the reasons I was weary of sending my dress to the US, to get it cleaned and he assured me that I was fine. He assured me the pleats would be restored and the dress returned back to white over the phone. I had called a number of times to feel comfortable with the fact that I was considering sending an almost $4,000 dress to the States, as I reside in Toronto Canada, to get it cleaned. He assured me I was in good hands. We went through the procedures for signing the contract and sending the dress for the quote. I thought it was a bit of a pricey quote but WAS a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and since Matthew Christopher, the designer of the dress sewed a care label inside the dress recommending this company I thought I was safe.

My first mistake was paying in full before the service was even rendered. I paid $613 for the service on 02-17-09. I thought the practice of him taking my money first was pretty shady but apparently he'd been in business awhile so I wrongly went along and paid by credit card over the phone. They finished my dress 03-15-09 and sent it back to my in-laws in NY, I did it this way to forego delivery charges. We went to pick up the dress the weekend of May 16 and 17th, 2009. When I looked at the dress through this blue film plastic I thought to myself the I was already seeing a yellowish tint. I proceeded to open the box and my worst nightmare began. The pleats were completely gone, the dress was still yellowed and the stains I had pointed out on the "Special Attention" portion of the contract were still there. Why would I be asked to point out certain things on the dress if you're just going to leave them there. The worst part is there were no difficult stains on the dress after the wedding, like wine...etc. There was a sugar stain on the bustier and some sweat stains by the under arm area and a pin drop of blood on the underneath layers from the seamstress I guess but those were nothing to worry about. I pointed all of this out with instructions to be careful of the embroidery/beading on the bustier while cleaning it. Worst of all the elegance of the dress, the pleats, where completely removed because I later found out he washed (wet cleaned) the dress. Therefore, all of the fabric sizing was removed, therefore the pleating was destroyed. I made sure to ask him so many times to restore the pleats and he assured he'd handled this exact same style of dress (Josephine by Matthew Christopher) before and not to worry. I also pointed this out on the contract "Notes or Comments" section.

I contacted the business on May 16th, 2009 I spoke with a receptionist. She told me she would pass on the message. We got back to Toronto and he called me at work on May 21st. I said to him that for the amount he charged me I was not pleased with his work and I would like to see if we could work out getting half the money back so that I could go and get the dress cleaned properly here in Toronto. He got loud and belligerent with me while I was at work, I actually had to calm him down. He accused me of maybe trying to scam him. I told him that I'd contacted my wedding planner and she even said for the service he performed it was very pricey and I could have got it done here for about $250 to $350 at the most and that is how I arrived at the figure for him to give me back half of what I paid, as he was asking how I arrived at half. He said that it was that much money for the service he performed, basically saying that a service was performed so why should he give me back my money when he did the work. I told him it was in no way GOOD work and that I needed to try and find somebody else to do a better job and it was not fair that I would have to pay more money to get it done a second time when he should have did it right and followed through with his promise of great work the first time.

We had agreed on me trying to get it cleaned in Toronto, and then going there to show it to him for inspection and then he would give me back all my money. Nobody in Toronto would touch the dress. Three other cleaners told me he ruined it, that it was washed and that is why the pleats were gone, and that there was nothing they could do for me. Two told me to sue him.

Absolutely agree with the other reviews. Do not use this service! I have never come across a business with worse customer service and they did a terrible job (if they did anything at all) in "restoring" my wedding dress. I have never left a review in my life but would like to help other people avoid the turmoil that I experienced. I have had to send my gown out to another restoration service to complete the job. I would like to give this place 0 stars...but this service will not allow for it.

The owner -- Steve -- is rude beyond belief. He does not deliver on promised service. I've never had a more unpleasant, intimidating experience in my life. Plus, my daughter's wedding dress -- which I took in to be pressed -- still needs pressing! Right smack in the front is a crease that he argued was a function of it's hanging and refused to take out! He had promised me when I brought the dress in that it would be in perfect shape in the store. Obviously, with a crease smack in the front it wasn't. Rather than fix it, he said "I knew you were a problem from the first time I met you." Then, after saying that he was going to give me a full return of my money, he then changed that to a partial return, then started intimidating me. Three days before my daughter's wedding this is the last thing that I needed. Don't use this vendor under any conditions.
