This is a response to Mike S. Really?!? He is the one who must be a joke! Does he really expect anyone to believe the bad things he has to say about the Center when he leaves his child there? I know First Friends and it is a warm, wonderful, clean, and healthy place that anyone would be lucky to leave their child in. The teachers truly care about the children and everyone there is friendly and professional. There is plenty of security, and you even need to enter a personal code to get in the front door. I was blessed to see the holiday pageant recently put on by the children, and you should have seen what a great job they did! The teachers got amazing performances out of those kids, and there was nary a dry eye in the house. I'm not sure what is up with Mike S., but it sounds like some kind of sour grapes to me. Don't listen to anything he has to say. Check it out for yourself. You won't regret it!

As a whole, the place is a Joke!

The office is often unattended and the owner is rarely there!

The lack of communication to the parents is embarrassing! Parents get charged for services not rendered and at times do not get credit for payments made. The owner has a habit of handing a financial statement to the parents and having them find the missing monies. Tuition checks are not cashed regularly and often can be several months before they get cashed.

The new lunch menus are sometimes not given to the parents until the last few days of the current month and are often due back in 24 hrs.

Most recently after Hurricane Sandy, the school was without heat, lights or phones yet they still posted on a Facebook group that they will be open, but to dress the kids warmly, pack a lunch and send them with flashlights! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!??? This is totally illegal, yet they did it and were charging parents for services rendered!?!?!?!? WOW, BUNCH OF WACKOS!!!

This place is famous for outbreaks of coxsackie and ALWAYS fail to alert the parents until after multiples kids get sick. This is so annoying. This happens as a result of poor hygiene after using the toilet.

Many of the teaching staff are very nice people...then there's the "elite few" who have their own problems and their own social click.
Many of the parents I am friendly with have hear some of the teachers yelling at the students and one LOUD MOUTH who I don't like at all has told a student to "pick it up off the floor and eat it".

The only reason I still send my daughter there is for her friends & this is the last year she will attend this place. I can't justify starting a new school to make new friends just for 1 school year.

There are better places out there, you just will pay more!

Just interviewed the center and really liked it. The care givers were friendly, nice and experienced. The center was clean and had a very good security system. It is really important to me that my child goes out and plays during the day and this center had the best plan grounds of all the centers I looked at; so I signed up.

This is in response to Lisa S. who claims she roamed the halls of First Friends for twenty minutes. My sister, who they already know, went to pick my son up was not allowed to take him off site because I forgot to call and let them know she was coming. In addition, some mentioned that the kids are behind a gate in the playground. Yes, they are behind a gate, but they do not allow the children leave the area with random people. They have to let the kids to go out to play and how else do you expect a parent to pick their kids up if they are outside playing? The bottom line is this, the staff PERSONALLY know the parents. They don??t need cameras because they know if you belong there or not. By the way, the school is not large enough to roam for 20 minutes straight.

FF? I LOVE IT!! My child is a graduate there and I disagree with the response by Melissa W. She is wrong! First Friends is the best child care center on the east coast!

First Friends is amazing. I certainly disagree with a comment I just read. You are being to pushy. Do you honestly expect someone to stand at the door all day and greet every single person that walks in? That is ridiculous. My child is a First Friends graduate and my son is going to be a graduate this year. First Friends has actually helped my child get a modeling and acting career. When picture people came, the put my child's picture on the wall, and a modeling agent walked in and gave my child a job. If you ask me, First Friends is the best daycare in the world!

I am a First Friends graduate and it is the best school I have ever been to. The staff are so nice and the director is the sweetest and the most well-kept person I have ever met. When I graduated from First Friends, all of first grade I would spend staring out the window wishing I was still at FF. The school is clean and has 7 acres of land for the children to play on. There are 3 playgrounds and # pools, depending on what age your child is. They also hold a summer camp program which the kids will love! I have and always will be a First Friends girl!

I disagree with most of you reponses. I looked at many daycares in the area. I walked right through the doors which are unlocked. I wasn't greeted at the door. The woman in the office didnt even get up. Also after my tour which after seeing the eating area down in the basement I wasnt too impressed. After I had called back the next day to see about the locked door situation, I was rudley talked down to by the assitant director. She laughed in my face when I asked her to see papers on something and basically told me to go to another daycare. I wouldn't even recommend wasting your time going there. I have never been so insulted in my life and I didnt even get an apology when I went there to speak to the director. She wasnt in, and I also hear that she is never around. I dont feel that FF is clean either. A friend of mine removed her son because she felt he was being treated badly.

I worked with Miss Jessica, and she was never any trouble. I never heard her once curse. Not sure who, or why someone would say that about her just becuase she is not here anymore. Reviews are not to personalize and humiliate an individual but to reccomend or not reccomend the company. Miss Jessica had a Bachelor's degree and had 12 years working experience in professional corporate environment and only worked here part time after she had her child so she could spend more time with him. She is also a grown woman and never dressed inappropriately. She wore her First Friends Logo T and sweatshirt as told to do so. No one here dresses professionally, as it is a caual environment, not even the owners are dressed to impress. She was no more underdessed than the head office manager Miss Heather. Also if Miss Jessica was not constantly greeting people, it was becuase she was busy doing paperwork that Miss Heather would leave for her, becuase all day I would see and hear her on the phone talking to her friends about her sons. Miss Jessica new all the parents by name and who their children were, if she did not recognize someone she would ID them and ask who they were. She was very helpful to me when I needed her assistance and was also very helpful in a crisis situation.

Before deciding on bringing our child to First Friends, we had looked at many other centers. We did not find any other center that had as qualified caregivers, as nice grounds and play/learning areas inside and out. FF has many amenities, great quality and they have the most competitive price in our area. We love the hours 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. If we get stuck late in traffic we know that our child is being taken care of by competent, experienced caregivers in a safe and secure environment. They always have activities planned for the children and incorporate learning into every experience. We love how excited our child is to tell us about everything they learned that day at FF. We feel as the staff that we have come into contact with, are great caring people who all love children. As parents if we have a concern they always take the time to listen to us. You never feel ignored or just another customer. We feel as though we have found a great match with FF. It is like one big family. We would definitely recommend FF to anyone looking for superior childcare.

I totally disagree with the review I just read for first friends daycare center. I have three children that attend that school and I just recommended it to my best friend who is coming off maternity leave. The campus is huge with plenty of different playgrounds for each age group so the "big kids" don't mix in with the little ones. Everyone knows everyone by face and name....it's like one big family! The only complaint I have ever had in the nine years that my kids have been attending was the recent afternoon secretary Miss Jessica. She dressed inappropriately and never greeted anyone. I actually heard her curse on more than one occassion. Much to my delight, once a few parents and I made our concerns known to the wonderful director, Miss Jessica was let go! Talk about customer satisfaction, I wish the DMV took my concerns so seriously. I feel sorry for the people who didn' t give first friends a chance....they are really missing out on quality childcare!

I am happy my child is going to First Friends. I love that the campus it is very large and has a park like setting, with a really great playground. The care givers do an excellent job of caring for the children; they are some of the most loving and caring people you will ever meet. The rooms are large with lots of windows! The ratio is very low which I really like.

It is really hard to find a good, safe, clean, reliable daycare center and I am happy we found this excellent school.
BTW, did I mention that they have a huge auditorium where the children are able to play in bad weather or put on a great Christmas show for the holidays.

I did not place my daughter at First Friends simply because on the day I went to visit them - I set up interviews to check out various daycares in the area - there was no security at this daycare.I walked right in through the front door with my husband and roamed around the facility for a good 20 minutes unnoticed. Not one person approached me to ask me what I was doing there. In addition, there is a gate on the playground - where I saw parents just going and picking up their kids. The playground/gate is right off the parking lot which makes for an unsafe environment.I also did not like the infant room - it was overcrowded with furniture, kids, and caretakers - a total fire hazard - and just an uncomfortably cramped environment. When I questioned the director about the lack of security cameras and security entrance - she said "we use our eyes and ears to determine who doesn't belong here" - Frankly, that method doesn't work too well since I roamed around with my husband for 20 minutes and no one noticed us. Completely unacceptable.

First Friends Child care really separates themselves as the number one child care facility. I really feel comfortable that my children are not only well watched but are motivated and are learning. These things are very hard to find in any day-care center and First Friends makes sure that they teach reading, math and social skills as well. I would definitely say to give them a try.

This daycare is super big and clean. They have a state of the art play area for the children. The staff to children ratio is low. They offer all sorts of schedules and programs and everyone is super nice!
