Horrible and very rude service from their management. Overpriced.

Waitresses and front desk staff were friendly, but the management was absolutely horrible.

Stone Rose is a very beautiful, classy and scenic lounge. You can see Central Park from the venue. Their cocktails are great and strong.

It is great for chit chat with friends at this upscale and quiet lounge. Don't expect to come here to see roudy crazy drunk people or hear loud blasting music.

Of course the drinks here reflect the UWS prices so come prepared!

I don't even know where to begin...
Last week a date took me to Stone Rose for drinks and the view. The view was great. That was the only thing that was great. The service was the worst I have had anywhere! The bouncer was flirting with some girl on our way in and didn't even notice us standing there until we asked to be seated. He was very nice as he was seating us, but it was the beginning of a very long evening.
We waited for 10 minutes before anyone even took our order and our waitress treated us like we were a major inconvenience. We could see her standing near the bar talking and flirting with the bouncer while we sat and waited for our drinks. (Same thing happened when we wanted to order another round, which took another 15 minutes just to flag her down). The waitresses all acted like they were hot s**t and wayyyy to busy to be bothered to serve drinks...you know, it's not like it's their job or anything! I hate to break it to you, but tiny skirts, boots and cleavage don't cover up the fact that most of you are way past your prime in a job you probably took while you attempted to "make it big" elsewhere. Good luck, I hope you like waitressing.
We tried to make the best of the situation, after all the view really is beautiful, but the flirtatious staff and long waits for expensive drinks made this a terrible date. An hour and a half and two drinks later we decided to go elsewhere. On our way out the staff was too busy to say goodbye and the bouncer was busy fliritng again. (What is this place a big singles bar for the staff to meet people?!!)
There are plenty of places that are more accommodating and not as stuck up as Stone Rose. I would not recommend this place to anyone but people on business meetings with corporate cards and no souls (they will fit right in).

Pros: The view is amazing

Cons: The staff is in high school

.

Stone Rose on a Saturday night is laden with half nked chubby 25 year-olds staring at their own reflections while practicing dance moves on the bathroom line. Egotistical bouncers named Andre pick fights wtih patrons in order to showcase their old high school wrestling moves (see other posts, this is not a one off incident). Staff breathe down your neck and tell you whatever spot you are standing in is 'reserved,' after they use the threat of Andre's Full Nelson to make you move. The recession will hopefully force this place to learn some manners. Spend your hard earned money at an establishment that actually values its customers.

I went there in mid-December with friends, and we had a blast. The drinks are great, and I loved the food. The staff was great, very polite and attentive. Very comfortable; we spent a couple of hours there. If you're ever in Manhattan, it's worth a stop.

friends and i went recently, the food was horrible and the manager and bouncer were actually so rude that we ended up leaving early; i was waiting on line for the bathroom on a saturday nite when a female mgr jumped the ridiculously long line (only 2 stalls), when another patron asked her what she was doing, she announced that she was a manager and that if the patron had an issue with that she should leave. Two minutes later a bouncer came in and asked the girl that complained to come with him and that she needed to leave. it was like the gestapo - no joke - who do these people think they are? Randy Gerber needs to stop in and see what his staff are up to - nice view - trashy staff - I will not go back

I have heard about Stone Rose a lot so me and my friends to go there. We went there on Thursday night and it was half empty. It's was all right beause we weren't looking for a big crowd. I expected more from this place. I didn't really like the atmosphere there. We got a table and had to wait for a waiter to take an order forever even though it wasn't busy. When we wanted to order a second round we had to look for a waiter. All drinks are $16-18 so you expect a better service. I don't mind paying if the service and drinks are good. I don't think it's a lot to ask. So I don't think I will go back there.

Went there on a sat night and they easily accommodated a few friends of mine. The place was very chill with a good crowd. You can actually hear the person you are speaking to! The drinks are a nice pour and the DJ spins some good music. I highly reccommend if you are looking to hang with a few friends and have a nice night out.

We went to Stone Rose to meet friends during the week. Its a bit of a meeting place for the single crowd. Its a very loud place and great for after work drinks. The food is overpriced and below average.

I went to Stone Rose with a friend on a Thursday night. The ambience is good if all you are looking for is a noisy place with lots of men in suits and peroxide blonde waitresses with silicone in short dresses. It's definitely not a place to take a date as it is too noisy. It's good for after work drinks with work colleagues. The music is lousy and inconsistent swaying from contemporary rock to hip hop. The snacks are overpriced but below average. Surprisingly, the service was pretty good. It's probably not a great place to meet people if you are a woman because most of the men clad in suits who were ogling at the waitresses were wearing wedding bands. If you are a man, the chances of meeting women are probably pretty high as there was a good single women's scene. Overall, I wasn't impressed but I wouldn't say "stay away."

I went to Stone Rose a few weeks ago with a handful of friends to celebrate my birthday. I called ahead of time to make a reservation. The girl on the phone seemed a bit spacey, she first said they were booked but then told me we could have a table if we left by a certain time, which was fine because we were planning on going to a club afterwards. Upon arrival, we checked our coats (free coat check) and were taken to the couch area next to the large windows that was reserved for us. The bar area was very crowded, many beautiful woman, but can't say the same for the guys. My friends and I ordered appitizers, chicken fingers were really great, a bottle of wine and cocktails. The waitress was attentive, refilled wine glasses, although she wasn't that good a pouring it. We sat on the couches, enjoyed the view and talked to ourselves as we were separated from the rest of the walk-in crowd. There was a wait for the bathroom as there are only two stalls. Drinks were the usual pricey ones you get at most upscale lounges. Good place to go with friends if you like lounges, not so sure if it's a good place to meet people, but like I said, bar area was crowded but didn't see any cute guys.

I'm not sure why the reviewers of this place, the Stone ROse are so bent on calling each other names and giving the other a hard time about their opinions. Opinions are what makes us different. Im going there tonight so will write my review after, right now I guess it a rating of average since I have'nt experienced it yet. But wow, reviewers can be pretty mean! New YOrk city , dont you just adore its people!

Brilliant Central Park Night View. Delicious cocktails. Relatively decent foods. If you subtract them from this bar, this bar makes you feel like coming back to that noisy & friendly college bar. Their clients - You can see them in those positive reviews below. Let's just say that there is a reason why the bar's service concentrates on just two points - bosoms and buds of pretty waitresses (& muscles of black suite managers, if you add one more). Great places for big kids who love to find trendy selves. Adult drinkers, I recommend to move on to Masa Bar on the same floor.

I personally had a great time from the moment i walked in the door to the moment i left.
so i came to write a review and saw all of these negitive things people had to say.... i am quite shocked!!

Any time i have been to Stone Rose i have a blast the door staff is great and very helpful and the manager is so nice even called a night club to get us in with no worries!!

It seems to me that some of these reviews are written by washed up jaded losers that go out looking for a bad time. It so reflects the energy they put in on city search after going home ALONE! With nothing better to do than eat themselves into a coma via Haggen Daas..
And to the one lady who said the staff is Dusty....and people waiting to go to jersy to put the kids on the bus... I ask so how long did it take you to get so bitter? every day with age i am sure since you are so hung up on image and what people look like. Get over yourself. You are probably just as ugly on the outside as you are on the inside.People like you are why people think "new yorkers" are rude ... So WHAT PART OF JERSEY ARE YOU FROM AGAIN??

I suggest if you want to have a good time treat people the way you want to be treated yourself.. Life goes on ,,, if the worst thing that has happened to you is slow service or someone didn't want to talk to you.....Then END your LIFE now...cuz life gets worse...

I had a wonderful time at stone rose last thursday. There was a d.j. playing the vibe was totally upbeat we had a ton of specialty drinks that were great and had service was very friendly and fast at the bar. The crowd does tend to be a little bit older although my friend and i did meet a couple of cute guys. All together i have to say it was a fun night!

What a snobby establishment! The bartender girl acted as if she owned the place. She was rude and slow. Therefore, it reflected on her tip. She was lucky she even got a tip! She proceeded to tell the two other guy patrons at the bar. The two guys started to yell at my boyfriend. How unprofessional. She could have asked my bf, she could have told her manager, but to tell strangers......that's tacky.

Careful in case you make a reservation here. They took my reservation, phone number, and credit card for 22 people to be seated at 6pm in tables by the window and then booked the entire room for a private party without ever calling to tell me. Most of my guests were from out of town and I was looking forward to showing them the view of Central Park. Instead we had to find a windowless bar downstairs. We were outraged to say the least but they didn't do anything except say "we can take you at 9:30." Place might be nice but no excuse for screwing a customer when a better deal comes along.

This place is like a lounge in an airport or what corny non-New Yorkers would consider the "hottest place" in their dusty small town. Overpriced. The waitresses are rude. The bartenders are rude. Absolutely no scene. The crowd you find there all look like they are going to flag down a taxi to board the last nj transit train because the kids have school the next morning.

It was not worth the money, and not worth the wait for a table. I tried to complain about the rudeness, but when this twiggy, crusty bottle blonde with an enhanced bossom walked over and called herself the manager, I fled.

Bad, bad, bad. Management is trash and bartenders are trash.

All the inattentiveness and indiffernce of Eurepean service but without the airfare! Tired of waiting for a waitress (who looks like she just stepped offf the set of a Robert palmer video) to come around, this local is giving up. A terrible waste of a great location and ambience.

Wow. bobvnyc, you're a downer. Are you stocking shelves at the Duane Reade? Go easy. These girls who cocktail waitress in the city are generally persuing other careers and have enough to deal with, and they certainly don't want to touch anyone's stanky feet. She's already bringing you a drink and has had to deal with you speaking to her in a demeaning manner. Have some respect for the human race! This woman is a person too. With her own life and set of circumstances. I've been into the Stone Rose many times and have always had delightful service. Show a little kindness to people in the service industry and I promise you'll get excellent service! And kudos to the waitress willing to stand up for herself! You go girl!

give me a break ! to the whining staffer who left the last post....you should start thinking of another career pronto ! you people are in the service industry. the key word being SERVICE ! For the amount this place charges its patrons, i should be getting a foot massage while i enjoy my drink. stop the attitudes there and you folks may actually make some money ! stop being so freakin miserable and do your jobs, otherwise, have fun stocking shelves at duane reade !

by the way, this place does have a beautiful layout and view of the circle/park but i would rather have spent my money at TGIF's and tipped the waitress with "flair" and a good attitude 50% of my bar bill.

Avoid the Rose like the plague !!!!

give me a break ! to the whining staffer who left the last post....you should start thinking of another career pronto ! you people are in the service industry. the key word being SERVICE !

Frst of all I'm tired of reading reviews from people who probably don't know the first thing about service. Most of the nose in the air people that come in there act like you're suppossed to be there maid. Guess what? The servers have more than your table to look after, if they are running around and not standing in one spot for longer than 30 seconds it probably means they are busy with their whole section. You usually don't just have one table at a time. Most obnoxious customers. Take a second and look at yourselves. If you're already in a bad mood, stay the hell at home. No one there is going to kiss your butt no matter how much you have. Anyone that gave a bad review to the service, let me see you with a tray in your hand and handle annoying peeps with no patience for 6-8 hours. Then let me hear you. Grow up.

Pros: Service, Ambience

Cons: Customers who know it all

I was under the impression that this lounge was upscale and swanky, and so I decided to check it out with some frinds. It took them 30 minutes to seat us even though there were empty couches everywhere! The place had a wierd, pretentious, negative vibe and the staff looked trashy and acted like they didn't need our business. I will never step one foot in there again. Without the view, this place would never survive in this city! It's no better than any bar you'd find in any mall in the rest of the U.S.! Nothing memorable, nothing special. Huge waste of money. Don't go!

Cons: rude staff, absolutely no atmosphere, overpriced drinks

I was meeting with about 15 friends at Stone Rose and we spent well over $1,000 there on drinks alone. We still got very poor service and we were told that we had to put our camera away after we took five pictures. One of us flew across the country just to be there with the group so we wanted to at least have some memory of the event. Furthermore, aside from a couple of other groups like ours, the rest of the crowd was for the most part trashy as was at least half of the staff. The wine list was poor and overpriced, the scotch list -- virtually nonexistant. Basically it's a tourist trap and New Yorkers should avoid it.

We were told that if we waited for half an hour, we would be seated at the table. As if! Even an hour later, the tables were empty but we were told that they were' reserved'. In the end, the hostess gave us a card and said that we should call and reserve next time. Uh, hello? You should have told us in the beginning that you did not intend to seat us? Was tempted to rip the card in her face...

I was there last Saturday night for a couple of cocktails with my wife and two dear friends. The place was packed with great looking New Yorkers and everyone was having an amazing time! Once again, I got a great table from polite and warm hostesses (if you don't have a reservation, be sure to take care of the hostess and behave like the clientele they are used to serving in that swanky place--complaining and nagging them won't get you very far). The service was absolutely praiseworthy and I don't know how the waitress pulled it off. This place was wall-to-wall packed and I never went more than two seconds without a fresh drink and a clean table. I was able to impress my dear friends and I felt like I was in the hottest party in NYC that night!

Was seated (with my date) at a small table and wanted to move to any of many empty chouchs around. When we tried to move an arrogant employee who had initially checked us over in the hall before we were let in came running over to suggest they would be taken by larger groups coming later and we would have to sit at our table. Hope the crowds showed up since we left. Unfriendly staff who are not at all interested in your experience.

The view is amazing as you stare out into columbus circle. The food is good and service is impeccable. I little highly priced but, you get what you pay for and you definately will be getting a lot.

Ambience is really nice. The crowd is mostly mid 20s-30s and classy/hip. Drinks are kinda overprices. Martinis start at $14. Views are ok, its on the 4th floor and overlooks Central Park. Staff is very warm though, not stuck up. Good to check out for a date or for after work happy hr, not sure about large parties though. There is a DJ on the Sat nite i went, but no space to dance or anything. its more of a mingling place.

I went with a larger group, about 12 people last friday. The waitress started out well but there where many times when we had a table with nothing on it. Really nothing as the busser came and cleaned the empties.

He even looked at us and said "has a waitress been by in awhile?" So we paid $700 for some of the worde service in recent memory.

Don't bother going.

Decor is grand and so is the view. But the drinks were overpriced. I was served an expensive drink in cheap glassware. Servers were okay but should be better for such an expensive place. Once is probably enough.

We spent over $500 at this place and continued to receive horrible service from the staff. The staff was rude with no sense for customer service. I even complained to the hostess on the way out and she offered no apology. Really amazing. Can't argue that the layout of the place is amazing, but I would definately avoid. The should really they are there for the customer. Lose the condescending attitude when patrons are paying $20/drink.

Service level drops dramatically as soon as your speed of drinking does not meet the high expectations of the waitresses. They won't stop harrassing you until there is a fresh round on the table. When pointed out three times in five minutes that all our glasses were still almost full from the round served ten minutes ago (which was btw the fifth round within the hour), she strongly recommended us to refresh these, because they were supposedly watering down (and that was not an offer on the house). Tells you something about the amount of ice they put in their overprized drinks. My advice, go there once, enjoy the CP views and one drink, then go as quickly as you can and never come back.

At 15+ dollars a drink, you would expect them to be decent but they are horrible. The tuna had a weird after taste. The waitress recommended my drink, and even though I couldn't get more than a sip down, she never commented on my full drink at the end of the night. The view is ok, but only if you are a tourist. Nothing really new here. If you like saddling up to corporate lawyers and I-bankers talking about how much money they spent the night before, this is the place for you.

Stone Rose is a great typically NYC lounge; Rande Gerber's signature style is obvious. The music depends on the crowd (if there's not a live dj, the staff picks a playlist in accordance with the crowd). The staff is INCREDIBLE! I had the best service I've had in a while. They even made a drink special for me as I requested one of their newest flavored vodka's and they hadn't put something on their menu yet! I haven't been yet on a night when the dj's there, but I am confident that it would be great. The best thing about this place is that it isn't cramped because it is uncommonly large for a NYC venue. I felt bad that some of the patrons were harrassing the spectacular bartender, but other than that it was AMAZING! Well done! I'll definitely go back.

Once inside you will forget that you are in the mall. Very good drink list, with some amazing fresh fruit martinis. Nice view of the park and Columbus Circle. The only downside is being in the Time Warner Center....

Great spot for a cocktail and the appetizers are fantastic. The Tuna Wasabi was sooo good. Can't wait to have more. Tables by window have an incredible view of park. Great NYC experience.

Very cool furniture and lightning, nice cocktails and a beautiful view of central park from the 5th floor of the AOL Time Warner building, and although the Mandarin Oriental which lies overhead on the 35th floor has a better view, it is often more crowded.
Unfortunately, Stone Rose is also expensive and often full of old people behaving badly! Also, although the waiting staff are beautiful, polite and charming, the girls are made to wear dresses just on the wrong side of skimpy.
Go there to displace the rude 50 yr old men in grey suit and turtleneck who will push you out of the way to steal your seat, and really shouldn't be there at all !
