as a former austin Tx native i do like my tex mex and was introduced to the genre at a pretty high level. the fajitas here are totally decent and enjoyable. I also usually like the margaritas (depending which barkeep is on deck, as they vary in quality). They are pretty strong too, 2 and you're fine - 3 is touch and go. Most of the other dishes are mediocre to poor in my view, we've tried most of them and the upstairs is something of a Cacophonous hall of boo. stay downstairs, stick to fajitas and margies and you should be sorted.

I eat out a lot and work in the food industry. I went to Lobo in Park Slope tonight and was totally disgusted. Our entrees came while we were eating our apps. Then, I had asked for my entree spicy and was given an entree that was so spicy it was disgusting and tasted like battery acid. When we politely commented we were treated like we were ridiculous. When they replaced my entree, they spilled sauce all over my husbands coat and the original entree I ordered was totally different. This was some of the worst, most indifferent service I have EVER had in my life and I will never go back here.

This was my first time eating here. Didn't know what to order, but the cheesesteak sounded good. Our waitress, Linda, suggested I substitute the pulled pork for the steak, and boy, was she right! I ordered an extra one to bring back to my roommate. She was terrific as a server -- very patient, sweet and accommodating. I'm coming back AND asking for her. Thanks.

I ended up going here on a saturday night, without a reservation, with 6 friends for my birthday. I'd originally planned to go to Frankies down the street but the rudeness of their greeter drove me away (see the Frankies 457 review I wrote). We came to Lobo and were seated immediately in the backyard and were treated to GREAT mexican food, very strong and yummy margaritas, and great service from the lovely bartendress who did not remotely rush us at all, as we spent hours back there having drinks after everyone else had left the back patio. I wish I'd caught her name, because she was a doll. Thanks, Lobo, for a great, relaxing birthday dinner! We all had a great time.

Good mexican restaurants are hard to come by in our area, so I had high hopes for Lobo. Needless to say, I was mildly disappointed. The food was just OK, nothing spectacular. The drinks were expensive, and the service was spotty, even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded. The most disappointing aspect was that they did not serve black beans, only refried. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but the overall dining experience pales in comparison to other restaurants nearby.

I ate at Lobo's a year ago and it was okay. I really enjoyed the fact that you could eat outdoors, especially on a nice spring day. It wasn't the best nor the worst. However, I went there over the weekend for lunch and the food was not good at all. It was devoid of flavoring. I ordered a fish taco and it had no flavor at all. And, the rice had the same problem....no flavor. I was very dissatisfied and couldn't finish my meal.

When Lobo opened where Harvest used to be, it wasn't bad. The food was decent and hte margerita's were great. I hadn't been in quite some time and went back a few nights ago. Wow did this place go downhill! THe food was incredibly bland. Hoenstly I didn't even finish it because it wasn't very good. It made me long for the days of Harvest's comfort food which was far superior to what Lobo's has become. We were seated upstairs and honmestly the place didn't look as clean as it used to be either. The service was not offensively bad, but it was pretty lackluster.

Lobo used to be a good bet for decent mexican, large portions, and the nicest waitress around (sorry I don't know your name woman with the bandana, but you are the sweetest!), but lately it's fell off. Went to brunch yesterday and had the rudest waiter. He's tall, scruffy looking, and should quit if he's going to have a bad attitude and act like he doesn't want customers in the restaurant. When he seated a huge party so close to us we were being elbowed by the woman sitting against our backs, we politely asked if there was any way the waiter could ask that table to move over just a little. He came back and told us there was nothing he could do in a very snotty way, and when I said "ok, we'll just try to move our table a little," he walked away in a huff. Not to mention the STALE biscuits, tasteless burritos, and coffee you had to light yourself on fire for before anyone would come over to refill it. Listen, I'm not a big brunch fan, so if Lobo's servers are going to treat me like garbage on a weekend morning, I'll stick to my cereal at home or go elsewhere. Save your money and avoid Lobo!

I am sorry to say their enchiladas are really really sad. They are smaller than cigars then have white Velveeta inside and on the top. I was expecting the rice and refriend beans that come with it to save the day but they only give you a few tablespoons of each. I was still really hungry when we left.

Our experience at Lobo was terrible! It started when we asked the waitress a few questions about some dishes & she just read off the menu to us, explaining that she "never eats those things." When the food came, everything was swimming in "queso" - it looked like melted Velveeta with a plastic skin on top. Then, our raspberry margarita had a white blob floating in it which we were told was egg whites! Why are they putting raw egg in margaritas??? The waitress never apologized for this, the drink was not comped & never once did she check in with us once we get our food except to drop the check. Don't go here! There are so many amazing restaurants in Brooklyn, don't waste your money on this one.

we live a few blocks away from the court street lobo and love it dearly. the food may not be earth shatteringly interesting, but it's very good and i consider it comfort food. the margaritas are strong and mercifully free of sour mix. in my eyes, the only down side to this place is that the bar gets filled up quickly and the upstairs dining room can feel a little isolated and creepy when it's mostly empty.

my name is stacey I have been eating at lobo since i moved here 1 year ago from california. i love the brunch and i love the dinner. what really attracts me more than the brunch on saturday mornings is the guy who brings me my food, he's hot stuff and i find it so s*xy when he alwayz looks at himself in the mirror im pretty sure his name is zigi because that is what he told me when i asked for his name because his behind and his smile has my face glowing every saturday morning, i hope he continues to have my food served to me with the same smile he shows me every morning..

Ok, WE LOVE THIS PLACE! Exceptional Margarita's (finally!) at a good price (yipee!) and mostly nice people that work here but lately this one bartender (I think I heard some one call him Tom) who always looks like he's been up all night (and not from umm...coffee!) is always behind the bar. He'll have three people at the bar and you'll still have to flag him down. Now I don't need a hand holding, telling me your life story kind of bartender (being one myself for 10 years) but damn! Look around man and get off the phone! EVERY TIME we are in, it's the same story with this guy so we opt for the garden (which is lovely) if we can. Just had to let it out!! Otherwise a great place!

I am from Austin, TX and have been in NYC about 7 years now searching for decent Tex-Mex, but haven't found any, much less good Tex-Mex. Sure there are places to get your fix, or have fun, but the food is nowhere close to the realm of the genuine or delicious food I grew up with. When I heard about Lobo, I was excited, but doubtful, I had heard rave reviews about Rosa Mexicana and others afterall and we know how that turns out, but figured I'd try. I ordered an iced tea, of course, and it came in a BIG glass with a lime and free refills. No nestea, no tiny glass. Now we're on the right track, i thought. Then we ordered Queso. I've made this mistake in NY before, but figured I'd try it. To my shock, it was made the right way! Delish! 2 for 2! Then kept going! I ordered the Sassy Mama Enchiladas which come with a side of rice and beans. Get this, the rice was spiced correctly and did not contain peas! 3 for 3! FANTASTIC! The beans were good without adding salt too! More tea coming. I can't believe i found it! The margaritas were great, the service was good, there is an outside space with a bar, it must be too good to be true! I've been back 3 times now in 10 days. I agree with all of the great reviews. The writers of the bad reviews either like something that is not true tex-mex, work at a competitor, or just plain have no taste. GO THERE TODAY AND SAVE ME A SEAT.

I am a Texas native that moved to NYC only 7 months ago, and the only thing that ever made me homesick was the lack of good Tex-Mex food in the City. Living in San Antonio, TX, for 22 years, you become accustomed to good Tex-Mex, and that is exactly what I found at Lobo. The enchilada's were delicious, and my girlfriend said that the Fajita's were delicious as well. My girlfriend and I have eaten at Maudie's restaurant in Austin, TX, as well, and the food is very similar at both places. The atmostphere is authentic and resembles many Tex-Mex spots in Texas. I must agree with many of the other reviews that say the service is below average. We have been twice since we found out about the place, and each time I have had great food with below average service. But for anyone looking for great food, good margarita's, and an authentic environment, this is a definate weekly spot that you must visit. Let's be honest, when you try to find a great place to eat that has a nice environment and strong margarita's, does it matter that the service is slow and you get to drink an extra margarita. Tex-Mex lovers will not be disappointed.

Couldn't believei it! First, the music. LOUD, and weird, and scratchy. It kept pausing, them blasting, then skipping. Numerous tables around me complained that it was very annoying and distracting. Then the service. THe waitress must have been on somethin. I ordered a enchilada entree, which is supposed to include 3 enchiladas, rice and beans. The bus boy gave me a plate with one tiny enchilada, and nothing else.! It took several minutes to flag the waitress to ask if this is correct, and she said no, took it back, and too half an hour to bring me my dinner! She never asked if we wanted drinks. We managed to get one drink from her, and she never came back. Getting the check was another ordeal, several tables around us were in the same boat, in disbelief at how bad everything was, and how they couldn't get the check either! When we finally left, we wished the poor customers still waiting the best of luck! What a mess.

Lobo used to be OK, but over the last year or so they've become a hellhole of inedible food and horrible service. Time before last we even got a self-tipping waitress - after paying the bill, we asked where our change was, and she said "Oh, I thought you'd want to leave it as a tip" So she was tipping herself something like 30% for her inattentive service. Avoid at all costs. I really miss the old Harvest at this location - it was decent, friendly and warm. Now they act like they're doing you a favor for every little thing, and the food is just terrible. A total waste of a good location.

My fiance grew up in TX, so he knows his tex-mex and is very picky. He loves Lobo though, and we've tried many other mexican restaurants in NYC and each has failed but Lobo. Fantastic fajitas, queso, chicken quesadillas, steak nachos, and the best margharitas around. Service can be slow and lackadaisacal unless you get the co-owner who usually works downstairs (Jennifer?). She's so sweet and very attentive.

Their mac 'n' cheese is just about perfect if you're a purist - all it is, is soothing macaroni and creamy, almost sticky, cheese sauce. Sticky doesn't /sound/ good, but it's addictive... Oh, my waistline.

Also try the Georgia bean dip and the vegetarian plate.

I'm from Austin, and often find myself missing the true Tex Mex I grew up eating. After seeing these good reviews, I decided to see if it lived up to the hype. I visited the Park Slope location on Fifth Avenue, and was impressed with the menu, and that they offered chicken fried steak. In the dim lighting, I thought the portions were impressive and dug in. The steak tasted a little odd, but after a few bites that I noticed it was oozing blood. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he snidely informed me that "that's how it's served." No, it's not. His snark continued when I asked for the check, "thanking" me for my patronage.
I won't be returning.

I believe I have found a new neighborhood favorite. The guacamole was delicious, the chips weren't greasy. The Bartender was accommodating and very freindly to my picky friends. I can't believe how good the food is for the price and portion size you get.I usually go on Friday nights because I don't think there is any better way to relax after a hard week then with some of the best margaritas I have ever had!!!!

I eat at Lobo about once a week either with friends of just by myself at the bar .The staff are really fun and give great service especially when in comes to substitutions. I am not from Texas but if the food is as good in Texas as it is at Lobo I cannot wait to go.

The problem with the previous review is thst he grew up in the southwest that is not Tex-Mex. Lobo has the best and only Tex-Mex in NYC do not just take my word check out NY Press best of this year. I eat there all the time and the food is always excellent. People come from all over the city and even from Texas to have there famous Margaritas and at $8 for a 17oz drink made with 100% agave tequila it is a bargain. If you want Tex-Mex this is the only place to go.

Growing up in the southwest I know my tex mex. The food here is decent, it's edible at best, but nothing about it is authentic and you don't crave it after you leave. The drinks are weak & overpriced, so save your money. The tamales are dry and the chicken tacos are mediocre. However, I did enjoy the caldo de pollo (chicken soup mexican style) and the fajita salad. The guacamole is pretty good, considering noone knows how to make it out here. Overall, this place is average with above average prices.

-For a 'tequila bar' you would expect to be given a tequila menu. Nope.
-For $8 margaritas touted to be "the best" you'd expect more than well tequila and cheap mixer in a small glass. Nope.
-For hard shell tacos you'd expect them to be fully prepared with fixins. Nope.
-For taco beef you'd expect some seasoning. Nope.
-For a small restaurant that isn't too busy you'd expect a water refill. Nope.
-For a great dining experience will I go back to Lobo? Nope.

As a Mexican living in the New York area, I have a hobby of trying
Mexican restaurants in the city, searching for authentic food. I am so
happy that I found lobo. We sat at the bar and my date happened to be a
vegetarian so we asked the bartender for some suggestions, he made some
great suggestions on how they'd alter meat dishes to be vegetarian
friendly and what they came up with was just amazing. I had the
shrimp fajitas which were full of flavour and a very generous portion.
But the best was definitely the margaritas just so tasty and refreshing.
After a couple of rounds the bartender offered to buy us a shot of
tequila, he suggested their homemade ancho chili tequila. Wow I cannot
explain it you just have to go there and try it for yourself. I sincerely
(and have) recommended Lobo.

The enchiladas and tacos are great! The enchiladas have a lot of cheese and flavor. It is tex-mex so there is more chilli than standard mexican food. The beer on tap is served in a huge thick beer glass, which is fun! The atmosphere is pleasant with lots of western decor and great servers. The free chips and salsa is always a plus too!

Lobo is absolutely outstanding! I crave their Chicken fajitas and queso dip every week! The margaritas are amazing! Citysearch even named them 2nd place in 2004 for best margaritas! They said "Tex-Mex that'll satisfy wolfish appetites--and some of the best margaritas in the area." The staff is absolutely fantastic and fun! The owners made an effort to introduce themselves, and since have always made sure to come over and say hello whenever I am there. They always remember my friends the next time we come back too. The food is sensational, and the brunch is amazing. For some crazy reason their bacon during brunch is the best bacon I have ever had! Plus how can you go wrong when chocolate chip pancakes are on the menu? Mmm!!!! I go there to eat dinner, brunch, or to just drink and hang out at the bar with the friendly staff. Highly recommended!!!

It is pretty unfortunate because this place has pretty decent food, but the staff is so incredibly aweful. There demeanor is gruff and sarcastic and completely unfriendly! I recommend you never ever order food from them to your home - THEY ALWAY MESS UP THE ORDER. The house salad - the lettuce is always so dark and aged. They are unhelpful in substitutions, like no hot peppers and or adding cheese. They charge you for each additional add on. I will be honest, Brooklyn is missing a real jem of a Mexican restaurant - which is needed in our neighborhood. By the way - the Margharitas are just soso....nothing to write home about! Sorry it is much better to learn how to cook your own food at home than waste your money here!

The key to enjoying Lobo is -- surprisingly -- going for brunch. They've got a thick-cut brioche French toast that's classically perfect, served with grade-A syrup. And the breakfast tacos transcend expectations. They've got a touch of heat and a pile of flavor -- a wonderful savory breakfast. For dinner, Lobo is passable, but not spectacular. For brunch: Rarely crowded, consistently great.

While I am not a chef, or from Texas, I do think this place is excellent. And I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and Lobo is usually my choice for a drink, or a casual group dinner or nights when spending $60 on dinner for two is out of the question. Its a super cozy, friendly place with a very welcoming staff and laid back feeling. The margaritas are really good, especially the ones made with the flavored tequilas (I like the ginger). The beef fajitas are my favorite and I usually start with the spicy chicken soup. I find all the dishes very flavorful and the service to be friendly, fun and attentive. And you get a lot of food for the price!

Okay, I am obsessed. I absolutely love this restaurant - to hang inside at the bar or if the weather is nice, the backyard is amazing too. I can't get enough of chips w/ Georgia's Bean Dip (I swear, I dream about it at night) and the fajitas and soft tacos. There are enough options to cater to non-spicy food people like me, as well as those that like it hot hot hot. This place actually makes the commute from Manhattan worth it - sometimes twice in the same week!

If you review this place or if you have been there and were disappointed in the Mexican food it is because it is Tex Mex cuisine. That being said it made my taste buds stop missing Texas so much as I felt like I was back home with an El Arroyo style patio, cheap queso and salty Ritas. Great combo platters with heart-stopping, or at least clogging enchiladas and refried beans.

We just visited Lobo recently and were so impressed with the authenticity of the Tex Mex cuisine. The flavors are great, the relaxed environment is fun and easy...and the margaritas are terrific. We highly recommend sitting in the garden and enjoying some wonderful food and drinks. We especially loved the Sassy enchiladas and the extremely flavorful bbq ribs.

If you have spent any time in Texas, you will recognize Lobo as the real thing. NYC has until now been sorely lacking authentic Tex-Mex food, so thank heavens for these people. The service is super-friendly and the margaritas are terrific, great for washing down Lobo's spot-on chilli con queso (which transplanted Texans know is hard to find in this city!) Definitely worth a quick trip to Brooklyn on the F train. If you don't like it, then you don't know Tex-Mex!

This was the best Tex-Mex Food outside of Texas I have ever had. The food is authentic and has excellent flavor. The margaritas are out of this world they are made with fresh juices and premium tequila. They also have kept the same brunch from Harvest and added a few Tex-Mex specialties. If you have not been here yet get there as soon as possible.

I recently ate at the bar at LOBO and really enjoyed the drinks, food and the people. This is true Tex Mex! The margaritas are delicious and refreshing, the best I ever had. I ate the beef fajitas and they were so tasty, the perfect blend of spicy and flavorful. They were served with plenty of sides and tortillas. The beans with perfectly cooked and just slightly salty and the rice was fluffy and yummy. Everyone at the bar was friendly and gave great service. I would highly recommend LOBO and cannot wait until they open the back garden this Spring!

Lobo is a find! Certainly worth the trip from Manhattan. The food was delish -- not your run-of-the mill Tex Mex. The place is warm and friendly -- like the wait staff. The margaritas can't be beat! And all at very reasonable prices.

I am from California and not once have I tasted Mexican food like this! All of you that have been searching....I have found it. Everything is outstanding...you can not go wrong! The prices are so cheap it will blow your mind. Great for everyone and the Margarita's are mouth watering.

Check it out East Coasters and West Coasters...you will never have food like this unless you head to Texas or better yet Mexico!
