This store has a very absurd trade policy which requires you to spend the same amount you trade. So if you trade 200 dollars of books you must spend 200 dollars within 6 months or lose your credit

This review applies to the Dupont Road location only (now closed) as I have not visited the other shops. Village Books is just generally Disappointing with a capital "D". The inventory is mediocre, at best. Let's put it this way, if you like trashy novels, out-of-date textbooks or self-aggrandizing pulp screeds written by half-wit celebrities, this is the store for you. This store is firmly in the "used mass market" category. If they would learn to be more selective in their choice of inventory, I'm sure they would benefit. On the upside, the store is very well organized and the staff are helpful. NOTE: Since I wrote this review, Village Books has had to consolidate its operations down to one store (probably a fair indicator of the quality of their business model). You can bring your books in for sale or credit, but they aren't very accommodating about it. Even if you ask for store credit, they give you a paltry sum and then they rub salt into the wound by giving you only six months to use it! Frankly, I found this quite annoying as it would probably take a year's worth of weekly visits to find something I would actually want from their shelves. Rating lowered to one star.
