.

I passed by this small boutique when walking around Chicago late at night. I remember seeing the lights shining on these magnificent looking necklaces and the pops of color in the window. Unfortunately, the next day we were so exhausted from being vacationers and it was Sunday.... that we didn't have time to check them out before they closed.

Thankfully, before leaving town, we managed to squeeze Mali Jewelry in first thing in the morning! I had a knot in my stomach- it was exactly what I had been envisioning. Something funky, loud, unique and a bold statement. I found it all inside that little store. All came with a hefty little price tag too. After negotiating with the owner and his wife, we took some snapshots of the jewels and sent them to my MOHs and waited for a reply, while sipping on a mocha at Starbucks. I was awestruck. I would have never found these online!!

All handmade in Thailand with Swarovski crystals. No two are exactly alike. When working with gems, the color variance is what gives the piece it's character. Thankfully, when he was poking around in the back for a similar style, he found a second matching sister necklace, just a little different in color and symmetry. Overall, they were the perfect turquoise necklaces for my Tiffany Blue and Sand color ensembles!!!

The owner was so helpful- and I didn't find the staff to be overbearing. I actually valued her opinion and found it to be very helpful. The owner allowed me to walk around with the necklace on- over a quarter of a thousand dollars and gave me time to breathe and think it over.

In the end, he hooked it up and I am very happy to know that I got quality jewelry that no one else will replicate. These are the types of jewelry pieces that receive compliments left and right!

The place has fun items, but they break very easily (two experiences me and my friend) and it just so happens the owner is staunch about his 7 day return policy!!! So it is not recommended for buying gifts! The sales people never let you know you only have a narrow window to return items.
