This is another fantastic sushi restaurant in the Cedar Rapids area. The service is always attentive and friendly and the sushi is not only fresh but it tastes great. There are many great rolls to choose from but my favorite is the Fire

We drive a 2 hour round trip to eat at Sushi House every other weekend it seems! Friends who are Japanese or who have lived in Japan verify its authenticity. My husband orders some of the more rare items and everything is always fresh and generous. Chinese menu available as well so no one should shy away from joining a night out.

My husband and I were entertaining guests from Thailand and they wanted sushi, so we brought them to Sushi House. Everyone loved the variety of items on the menu and the sushi quality far exceeded everyone's expectations. The presentation is something you'd expect in a high end restaurant in a big city and our waiter Mike was fantastic. We were also pleased that he could converse in Chinese with one of our guests! For non-sushi eaters, there are plenty of cooked entrees with as much flair as the sushi menu.

We've also tried the takout service and were just as satisfied with our food.

Pros: Great food, excellent presentation and good service

Cons: Small waiting area if the restaurant is busy

It's very hard to find good sushi here in fly-over country. Most of our sushi places are run by Koreans and Mexicans. Sushi House isn't fantastic by world-class standards, but it's pretty darned good for a place that's about as far from any ocean as you can get in America.

The fish selection is typical. There is occassionally something exotic on the menu, but mostly you get tuna, salmon, snapper, octopus, etc. The presentation is excellent and if you have them cater your event or if you're eating there and it's not too busy, they can do some amazing work with oranges, radishes, and other garnish.

One of the problems that sushi lovers have is that they're a rare breed. Often their friends and families include people who refer to sushi as "bait". The nice thing about Sushi House is that their non-sushi menu is outstanding. The veggies are always fresh and the vegatable dishes always contain a wider variety of veggies than you'll find elsewhere. The teriyaki dishes are superb; the salmon steaks are always the best cuts.

Of the choices you have for sushi in Cedar Rapids (Osaka, Kaji, Sushi House, Metro Buffet, and Target -- yeah, Target), Sushi House is the best. Your non-sushi-eating friends won't be disappointed either.

PROS: Great food, great presentation
CONS: It's still the midwest -- no real stand-out sushi dishes
