Reviews for Esspa Kozmetika Skincare

Ratings_icons Unhappy Customer

Ashley A.

I was recently visiting the Pittsburgh area and I decided to go to two spas, Esspa and World of Serenity Day Spa. I really didn't like Esspa because of the customer service, I felt like I was an intruder at the spa and rushed. I was never offered a beverage nor did they attend to my needs. World of Serenity on the other hand was so helpful, when I entered the atmosphere I was greeted by a woman who escorted me to the receptionist room. I was also offered a beverage and they gave me some fruit to snack on. My services were great, I was not rushed, and I didnt want to leave the premises when i was finished. So, they let me relax in the "Enchanted Garden", this garden is to die for. I like the place so much I decided to become a member and plan to visit their whenever I come to the burgh. World of Serenity keep up the great work.

Ratings_icons Best Pre-Treament and Facial Spa - Hands Down!

ShadyUrbanista

Eva, the owner of the spa gives an amazing facial, and offers the best in home remedy and home treatment advice while treating you - at no extra cost! My experience with Eva and the other estheticians has always been amazing and I continue to go back. If you sign up for email updates you can even get great insight on their almost weekly specials and receive coupons as well. My only con is with the helpfulness of the front desk staff and their customer service, which I will say has improved over the last 6 months.

Pros: Pampered feeling no matter what you are there for

Cons: Front Desk customer service

Ratings_icons Best Spa ever!

Number1 Nani

I've been going to Esspa since it's inception and am so glad it's being recognized nationally for its excellence. After all these years, I have never been dissappointed with the services and the courteous staff (Karen, you're the best!). Eva, Heather, Robert and all the other professionals there are hightly trained and so good at what they do. I would give it SIX stars if I could!!

Pros: Facials, massages and manicures are the best

Ratings_icons Spa "Pre"view

Patti P

I am writing a "Pre"view and will write my Review after this Saturday, (11/21/09,) when I will be having my very first facial at the salon. I purchased a gift certificate for a friend and actually received one myself for my own birthday the following week. My first impression was that the place was beautiful and clean. (I was in Hungary a month ago and it really resembled parts of Budapest!) The staff was kind and helpful. I hope the facial is a good one, the prices are high, but I will pay them for quality. I will post my honest feelings and observations next week. Can't wait!

Pros: Beautiful surroundings

Cons: High Price

Ratings_icons Without question the best spa in Pittsburgh.

ats22

Esspa is without a doubt that best spa in Pittsburgh and over the last five years I have probably been to 75% of the spas here. First, it is beautifully decorated. The facial/massage rooms all have different themes and they are all tastefully decorated with richly painted walls and beautiful chandeliers. I relax the moment I walk in.

Pedicures are much nicer than those I have had elsewhere. I recommend them. But, I cannot recommend Eva's facials enough. I never realized how much the appearance of your skin can improve with a facial until I went to the owner, Eva. My skin GLOWS after I have one. And she is fantastic and really knows her stuff. I have very clogged skin and she spends a lot of time with extractions which no one ever did before. She's fabulous and she really cares about helping your skin improve.

Pros: Best Facial I have ever had, beautiful spa

Cons: Pricier than average Pittsburgh spa, but worth it

Ratings_icons Excellent Massages

Mandy412

I've been to ESSpa twice and the staff has been nothing but friendly and helpful. I think those that have complained of bad customer service have just caught people on a bad day. I've had massages with two different people and while both massages were great, the one I had with Robert ranks right up there with ones I've had in Las Vegas or at Glen Ivy Hot Springs in CA. I can't wait to book some kind of package to experience the other treatments the spa offers.

Pros: Convenient, nice atmosphere

Cons: None yet

Ratings_icons Very enjoyable

I had a very nice pedicure at this unique spa, well worth the money.

Ratings_icons Nice Massage

FG1945

I had a very nice massage by a young lady at this spa. She said she was new there , but had experience in many spa's in Florida, and I wasn't disappointed. The only reason I didn't give my experience 5 stars was I was a little taken aback when she told me she also makes house calls and she could come to my house if I ever needed her to. This made me feel uncomfortable, but overall I really enjoyed my experience.

Ratings_icons Eva vs Eva

The service was ok, definitely not worth the cost. The girl at the front desk was frustrating and the gentleman there, not sure who he was, was trite to say the least. I found that I can get a better service at Eva Szabo in E. Shady Side. I had gift cards for both places and know now that for future services my money will be well spent at Eva Szabo.

Pros: none that i could find

Cons: save your money

Ratings_icons A "green spa" that doesn't recycle???

goodgirl22

I was there for a service and had a bottle of water with me as I was just coming from the gym. I was looking for a garbage can when one of the staff members offered to throw the bottle away for me. I was shocked to say the least when she just dumped the bottle into the little white can next to the manicure desk. When I asked if they recycled the girl answered that they don't have a recycle bin!!! How is THAT green????

Pros: Good services

Cons: They are fake green spa

Ratings_icons A perfect day

lkronen1

My grandmother, daughter and I enjoyed the Three Generation Spa Package yesterday and I just wanted to say thank you to the entire staff for giving us the most wonderful day ! It meant so much to us. We rarely get together to just to enjoy each other and that's exactly what we did on Sunday. All the services that the three of us had were great (especially the facial and massage) and the lunch was perfect.

We weren't even in the car before we started to plan our next visit. We will be back soon.

Pros: professional and inviting

Cons: none that we could see

Ratings_icons Mixed Feelings

lmg50

I have had a 4-5 treatments at Esspa. My first treatment was a gift, a facial and a massage. When I booked the appointment, I asked how long the two would take and explained that a had a commitment later in the day. Just my luck, someone was delayed and I had to get only 1 treatment and reschedule the 2nd. They gave me 10% off my 2nd treatment. I'm not sure that was adequate but I dealt with it. In hindsight, 10% off didn't compensate for the inconvenience.

I have also experienced some questionable customer service from the middle aged blonde receptionist. She has a bit of a snobby feel to her- I always thought maybe it was because I always book the Eva Saver specials! Regardless, every customer should be treated with the utmost respect no matter how much their service costs.

In the end, I continue to book the Eva Saver's because they are such a great deal and the services that I have had are amazing (mainly facials). Heather is especially welcoming.

One more comment, I had never used a male masseuse before going to Esspa. I must say that I left feeling a little uncomfortable and will ask not to be with the male from now on. He was good, I was just uncomfortable. Just something to think about if you are looking to book a massage!

Pros: Great Services

Cons: Mediocre Service

Ratings_icons A wonderful first experience

Hello,
I just have to tell you how wonderful my facial was. My skin feels so much better, it was really thirsty. Heather was so nice, did a terriffic job, and really made it a comfortable relaxing experience. She made my first facial a very special one! I do look forward to treating myself again in the future.
Sincerely - Debbie

Pros: Comfortable, relaxing, very professional

Cons: Can't think of any

Ratings_icons Terrible Customer service

Elee2

I purchased an early bird petite pedicure just to start off my day prior to going into work. I thoroughly enjoyed my pedicure and even decided to purhase some skincare products upon recommendation from the spa consultant. The blond lady at the front desk was very aloof and curt when checking me in and out. Upon entering the spa I was told to wait in the waiting room and was not offered a beverage. An older lady (40's)who entered after me was offered tea, coffee, water and the blond lady even served it to her. I am not sure whether it had to do with my age (20's) but this disparity in service was rather obvious. Furthermore, the same blond lady overcharged me for my skincare products at the checkout and I ended up paying $20 more on top of the tip that I left ($30 in total). I had already corrected her once on the discount for the early bird and did not realize being overcharged until afterwards. Although I've already contacted the spa I have not heard back and highly doubt that I will.

Although the services are great I do agree with the other reviews that the front desk staff is TERRIBLY RUDE and unprofessional. I believe that they need further training on customer service/satisfaction as well as the prices for the services and products in order to prevent overcharging customers.

Pros: Good Services

Cons: Rude front desk

Ratings_icons Spectacular!!

whiteam1856

I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience I had at Esspa. The spa and its employees are elegant in presentation. The second I walked thru the door I knew I was about to be transported to pamper-land. I was scheduled with Eva for a facial. I was so looking forward to a little relaxing and I absolutely got more than I expected. I have had facials before but this was the best one ever. The room was so inviting. The facial chair, if you can call it a chair, more like a flufy marshmallow to relax in, was heated and the blankets more plush than anything I have ever seen. There was even a ribbon draped over the cover!! Eva attended to me as though I were a queen. In every other facial I have had there is a time when the facialist leaves while the masque is on. Not Eva, she massaged my arms and hands and feet. I think at one point I actually started to fall asleep. I felt as though a life long friend was taking special care of me and Eva made me feel as though I was the most important thing to her. Today was my second visit with many more to come. If you are looking for the ultimate pampering experience with an elegant atmosphere you need to try Esspa. When you come, look for me! I'm the one with the big smile on my very happy face!!!

Pros: Outstanding service and treatments

Cons: That I eventually had to leave.

Ratings_icons I didn't want to leave

I was in to have a facial done on Sunday. I just had to write and let you know how wonderful everything was! I have been to other spas in the past and never went back. At Esspa, I didn't want to leave. It was perfect from beginning to end...I can't wait for my next appointment!
Thanks Again!

Pros: Attentive, Professional, Amazingly Relaxing

Cons: absolutely nothing

My husband bought me a gift certificate for a birthday massage at and I can't complain about that. It was wonderful. But even though I was on time I had to wait almost 30 minutes with no apologies from anyone. The service was just curt and at this price that is unacceptable. It certainly put a damper on my special day and I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Pros: good massage

Cons: bad customer service

My friend and I got massages on Valentine?s Day, and we both agree that they were amazing, relaxing and soothing. Not only were the masseuses great, but from the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by professionalism, kindness and genuine warmth. We?ll definitely be returning to esspa! Thank you so much! - Tara

Pros: very professional, sincere and kind, happy and quick to help

Pros: An owner who loves what she does, knows more than anyone but is humbler than others

Cons: nothing at all

Ratings_icons Impressive first visit and going back soon

rfishr1

I visited Esspa for the first time today, and even though it was a short visit for a waxing service, I left quite impressed by the staff . Both receptionist's greeted me with big smiles and were very pleasant. Heck even though I didn't have any quarters for the parking meter, they took care of it for me. I don't think there is much more your receptionist(s) can improve on. After filling out the paperwork and handing it in, I didn't have to wait long before Audra came and introduced herself to me as the one who will be doing the waxing. At no time did I hear the usual "NEXT" like some other places do. It was nice to be treated well and be given personal attention even for such a small service. This was my first time at getting anything waxed so I didn't know what to expect. Audra was very nice and was easy to talk to. It went by quick and painless, not like I imagined it to be. However, while I was waiting I noticed all of the magazines in the waiting area were for women. If you want to welcome male clients as well, you may want to add a few that we may like such as weekly news or travel magazines. It took quite a while to build up enough nerve to go to a spa but it was a very pleasant experience and I would like to do it more often so look for me to go back for a manicure and pedicure soon. They say that first impression mean a lot, and with this being my first time at Esspa, by the time I left all I could think of was "WOW!". Thank you - Richard.

Pros: Nothing like it; Professional service with a smile; Knowledgable Staff

Cons: can't think of any

Ratings_icons Best Spa in Pittsburgh

I am a huge fan of ESSpa Kozmetika and decided to check the reviews on this webpage... I am shocked to read the most recent comment bashing the spa and its employees. My friends, family, and myself have been going to ESSpa for quite some time now and have had nothing but impeccable service. The employees, especially the receptionists, have always been extremely welcoming and helpful. My close friend's grandmother, who often needs special assistance at the spa, raves about her experiences there, particularly involving one of the receptionists, Karen. The services are excellent and of course there are occasional miscommunications, but the staff has been more than willing to solve any problems in a swift and gracious manner. I am an avid believer that the customer is always right (a sentiment that ESSpa has always followed) BUT as for this young woman's problems at ESSpa, I think it is apparent that she may have some issues of her own. There are certain rules that one must abide by. Famous institutions with the most impeccable service still have rules and regulations. And a side note for the writer of this outrageous and incorrect attack on ESSpa, please learn the proper usage of the word sadistic. I recommend not using vocabulary that you do not fully understand.

Ratings_icons Great Spa Services, Unacceptably Rude Customer Service

decime

I was a faithful EsSpa customer for ~2 years for facials, pedicures and waxing. It cannot be disputed that the spa technicians and the quality of services are top notch. HOWEVER, there is a lot more to the spa experience than that. It is supposed to be just that--an *experience*--and the management at EsSpa (particularly the outrageously snotty receptionist) may ruin the nice feelings you have after being pampered during services.
I routinely waited in the lobby for upwards of 30 minutes. One time the receptionist forgot about me, though I inquired at the front desk twice. When I inquired a third time, I was scolded for having waited so long (wtf?). Unless you have LOTS of time to wait around, I wouldn't recommend booking services there. This also stresses out the technicians, as it is up to them to "fit you in" despite scheduling mishaps.
I've had numerous other horribly rude and unsatisfactory encounters with the receptionist/manager woman at the front desk. One time I came out with a bit of a red/broken out face after a facial and she made an inappropriate comment, something like, "oh, your face...you poor thing!" (hello--someone that works at a spa should know that redness after a facial is quite normal).
Last straw and why I won't be going back again--I purchased a $55 facial product a couple of months ago after a treatment. I opened it up last week to use it and it was completely rotten...unusable...smelled horrible and had separated into a little pool of water and some brown chunks. I checked and there is NO expiration date indicated on the product so I went in to EsSpa to ask for a replacement. The receptionist was visibly disgusted by my request. "Well, if you had bought it like, two days ago, I might give you a new one"..accused me (in a very loud voice) of "putting something in the product" and told me there was no way I could get a refund as I "should have used it already". I left my name/number for the owner, but never received a call back.

Pros: quality of spa services

Cons: horrible customer service, sadistic receptionist/manager

Ratings_icons I am not sure why this spa is so highly rated!!

Guest30002

My family sent my mother to this spa for several treatments for her 70th birthday. She did enjoy the services. However, the spa modified a published "30% off" coupon that resulted in less of a discount for us. After repeated phone calls by the birthday girl and me, we were promised that the manager would follow up on the coupon dispute, and did NOT.
The spa split the "30% off the regular price of any individual spa treatment" coupon from SpaFinder between two services. This is NOT the published offer. There were no restrictions upon which service the customer applies the coupon. Nor does it say that the spa may apply the coupon at their discretion, such as splitting it between less expensive services. This is dishonest, if not illegal.
I am not sure why this spa is so highly rated!! Customer service was mediocre at best. The was our first experience with the spa and we will NOT return. Since this was a group gift, ESSpa lost multiple customers.

Pros: Competent service providers.

Cons: Poor to nonexistent customer service.

My name is Pascualin Martinez, my wife and I was just in the Pittsburg area on Aug 8th - my wife and I had shceduled an appt. for her and a friend of ours while i went to the pittsburg steelers game that evening. When we arrieved I was impressed on the way your staff attended my wife and our friend and how friendly everyone was. Before schedualing the appt. I had call other spa in the local area and esspa seemed to be the best both viewing the web page and your attention over the phone. I also hade a
special request to get some flowers and your staff member was kind enough to call me when the flowers arrieved. That made me feel that you establishment is dedicated to customer service. And also efter the service we recieved a post card from your establishment expressing your apreciation and also a discount on our next service. If any one is trying to deside where to go for a good spa treatment look no further this is the place to be pamperd. ~ Thanks again, Pascualin Martinez.

Pros: Friendly, caring staff. Great service. Neat place

Ratings_icons WOW.....

I thought about going to this spa but after reading all of the snippy "had to have the last word" and retaliate comments the lady that i will assume owns the place wrote saying "oh well, you should say thanks to us" I am definatley not looking for this kind of treatment. As a business professional, I could get smart allick commets anywhere else in the city for a lot cheaper such as a $2 coffee. I think its nice you try to reslove the problems but your attitude sure does shine! Not how you run a business! Not to mention your responses still sound like you were in the wrong. The customer is always right.

Ratings_icons Best Spa & Most Beautiful in Pittsburgh for sure...........................

may22

This was my first visit to Esspa. I can't believe I have never been here before. As much as I still adore Eva Szabo in Pittsburgh, I feel this place is SO much nicer and just better ambience in general. They sell beautiful, organic skin care.

It is a gorgeous, clean, absolutely beautiful salon in a really cute part of Aspinwall. The front staff, especially Karen, were so accomodating and pleasant. Lois gave a wonderful , relaxing massage. I will be back for a massage for sure and will recommend Lois to my friends & family. The treatment rooms are so serene, clean and blissful. I can't say anything negative at all about this place.

Pros: Cute Area, Gorgeous Salon, Organic products

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Great products, terrible costomer service. Dont use website booking, they do not respond.

amd89

I have been to this spa many times over the course of 5-6 years. Each time the spa staff seems to get more and more rude. Not usually the girls completing the services, but the front desk staff, or the people answering the phone. Spa services should be something that is pleasant and stress free, although every time I find myself scheduling an appointment, I am stressed.
Do not use their online booking option. They do not check it, and they never call you back. So you are left wondering if you have an appointment. Only to call days later to hear, "sorry we didn't get back to you, but we are all booked now, they probably did not call you back because we are booked"
You should let the customer know ASAP if you can not accommodate them so that they can look to book an appointment elsewhere for the occasion.
For this upcoming special weekend, I was unable to be accommodated for this exact reason, and now it is just easier to find a new spa and not deal with these issues.
It is just not relaxing anymore.

Pros: Great product line

Cons: terrible customer service, very rude and unaccomodating.

My husband surprised me with a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, facial and massage. From the moment I walked in the door of ESSpa, I was amazed at the quality of service. The receptionist greeted me warmly and was very attentive to my needs. Not only did she walk with me to the seating area and take my coat, she smiled and made eye contact with me. The massage was fantastic! The perfect amount of pressure and the right amount of time was spent on each part of my body. The relaxation area in the loft is a wonderful place to pause between treatments. I felt the effects of the day well into the evening.

Pros: massage

Ratings_icons I love the new sauna!

I have been reading about the benefits of infrared saunas and was so happy to see that ESSpa got one. I have been there twice just to use the sauna and it is amazing! It is very relaxing and definitely worth trying. Also the staff is very nice and accommodating. I have also been to ESSpa for a deep tissue massage and it was great! I highly recommend ESSpa.

Pros: Sauna, great massage, nice staff

Ratings_icons Cheap Cheap Cheap

At first I wasn't bothered, but thinking about it now, I am.

My wife was given a $150 certificate to this place from a relative. She was very excited. Unfortunately, at the last minute she had to cancel (family issue). I understand a penalty charge - my wife even volunteered one. But no business should take the entire value of a gift card for services not rendered. I understand that ESSPa was out some profit for a last minute cancellation (assuming they would have been fully booked). However, my wife spends a lot of money on personal services, and could easily have become a lifetime client of ESSPa. Now she'll never bother going there.

I hope the $150 was worth it. But the idea of a spa being cheap like this doesn't sell me on the whole "luxury" concept. If they nickel and dime on something like this, i just wonder....

Pros: Probably have decent services

Cons: Cheap

Ratings_icons Great Selection and Very Nice

I just made my first appointment and the girl was so pleasant and answered all my newbie questions. And my online purchasing experience was great! Nice selection of gift cards, easy to navigate website and very clear and simple purchase process. The customer reviews (of the actual treatments) and photos of your spa were the two reasons I chose ESSpa over others. It helped me to feel more comfortable making the selection without yet experiencing it myself. I am really looking forward to my visit.

Pros: Attentive Staff, Atmosphere, Selection

Cons: none

I was in the market for spa certificates for Christmas gifts, and was so excited when I read Esspa's black friday ad on their web cite. I drove across town at four am to take advantage of the "buy one get on free certificate offer". The offer should have said buy one as a gift and get one for yourself! The certificate that you purchase is a regular gift card, but the free certificate is a piece off paper that says"Black Friday Bonus Certificate." How could anyone give that as a gift? Due to medical reasons, I am unable to receive spa treatments and am now stuck with these certificates. I feel tricked. Other people stood in line for an hour in the cold at four in the morning to find out the free certificate came with many restrictions. A lady in front of me in line drove all the way to Esspa to buy certificates for her Bridesmaids in her wedding-only to find out that the free certificate expires April 1stt and her wedding was not until August. The web cite should have been specific about this promotion instead of tricking people into being there at 4am for a bogus certificate that can not be used as a Christmas gift.

Pros: Erin and Bethany are great! Erin gives the best facial I have ever had!

Cons: The staff is rude and the services are overpriced.

ESSpa has truly changed my outlook on customer service. Every single person that I met was nothing but nice to me while I was there this past Saturday, November 17th. I was greeted promptly and cordially as soon as I walked in. I was offered a cool and refreshing drink while I filled out my paperwork. I was escorted personally to the back by the young lady that would do my facial. That room in itself was the most relaxing place that I had ever been. She was very attentive to my needs, making sure at all times that I was comfortable and relaxed. My face afterwards was so smooth and soft. My skin is a little on the sensitive side, and not once did I feel that unknown burning sensation. I was then taken directly to the young lady that would be doing my manicure and pedicure. She was very friendly and talkative while not being overwhelming or pushy for information like some nail technicians can be. We went into the pedicure room and she made me feel like I was the most important person in the world, sitting on those comfortable couches. I was then taken to the wonderful massage room. The one with all of the dark purple, that was simply amazing. The woman has hands of gold. I felt every ounce of stress just drip away. The time didn?t fly by either; there was no ticking clock tracking my time. Thank you so much for creating your diamond in the rough. I had an absolutely awesome time and can not wait to spend more time with you and your attentive staff in such a relaxing and rejuvenating environment. Don surprised me with the gift of coming to spend the afternoon and it was by far the best present and surprise that I have ever received. A million thanks! ~ Chandra P

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I know personaly how the employees are treated, and the only reason Scott and Eva don't know this as well is because the girls walk on egg shells and are scared to death to speak up, for fear of losing their jobs. If the truth was told about ESSPA it's a boot camp! As far as the great birthday gift... it was a gift certificate that was not used and Eva needs to realize money doesn't matter to everybody. People who are happy with their lives, and themselves dont need money nor do they try to buy others. Write back soon Scott!

I have been here before (as well as other places) but I have never experienced anything quite like yesterday. My boyfriend made all the arrangements and didn't tell me anything except that I would be picked up around 10am and I was not supposed to make any other plans for the rest of the day. So at 10 a limo picks me up and delivers me to ESSpa. They had champagne and strawberries waiting for me and showed me to the lovely (redecorated since I was there last) locker room where I changed into a fluffy white robe and slippers. The next 8 hours are a bit of a blur but by 6pm, I felt that I had been on vacation for a week. And when it was time for me to change, there was a beautiful new dress for me to change into (my boyfriend had dropped it off while i was having a facial - which, along with the my stone massage, body wrap, sugar scrub, manicure, pedicure and incredible makeup, were simply fantastic. I don't know how much he spent but whatever it was it was worth every penny. I left glowing from head to toe and have never felt or looked better. The entire staff (and I think I met everyone) from front desk to the cleaning lady was so nice and treated me like I was the only person there. I will never forget it.

Pros: Incredible, attentive staff. Ambience. Great Treatments.

Cons: Can't think of any

I have never written a review before; however I believe this review is way overdue. I have known Eva for over 8 years. There was an apparent misunderstanding by a prior employee in relation to my prior wonderful appraisal of Eva and of her staff. I am a long standing client and I am writing to tell each reader how wondeful Esppa is. Prior to meeting Eva, I had many facials; none of them even came close to the facials that I receive from Eva. I had moderate to severe scarring from acne and after years of Eva's unique and expert facials, dermabrasion and of using Eva's remarkable products, my scars are barely visible. I am over 50 years old and Eva's expertise has helped my skin more than I could ever put into words. She knows skin more than anyone I have met!

The massages provided by Esspa are extraordinary as well. With chronic back problems, I receive consistent massages from the staff and I can honestly say, without them, I don't have a clue what kind of pain I would be in.

So, I feel badly for the prior employee who feels the need to try to put Eva, her staff, and the spa down. This is a fantastic spa. I recommend this spa to anyone who wants quality services. Eva is an incredibly generous person who strives for excellence. My hat is off to her and her staff. Way to go Eva!!

Pros: Everyone and everything

Cons: none

I began going to Esspa when they were first located in Fox Chapel Yacht Club. I followed them through their next location to the current one. I'm an extremely picky person, so for me to continue to use just one business is quite unusual. I think I've had just about every service there--wax, peels, microderm, massage, nails--and have had consistenly good service. The fact that it is hard to get an appointment speaks volumes to this fact. Add to that the beatiful European interior, complimentary beverages and food delivered from Luma (a restaurant across the street) and you have a tremendous experience.

I left the city a month ago and am strongly considering the six hour drive north for services but unfortunately, after the relaxation, I'd have to drive myself back. :)

Pros: Ambience, Service

Cons: Parking

Ratings_icons Terrible service, but compliments to Audra

I went to Esspa today and was very disappointed with my experience. I have been to Esspa once before and was very pleased with my appointment, but since that time I have tried on several occasion to make an appointment and was unsuccessful. I was happy that they were finally able to schedule me for a brow wax with Eva this week on short notice. I arrived early for my appointment, checked in at the receptionist desk, and was told to have a seat and someone would be with me shortly. I sat for at least 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time and no one asked if I needed anything or with whom I had an appointment. Two people that arrived after me were taken for their services before me. I had to go back to the front desk to ask when I would be waited on, and after about another 5-10 minutes, I was first told that there was an issue with another client, then I was told by another person that Eva had left (even though she was supposed to do my wax). I do have to give my compliments to Audra, who ended up waxing my brows and did a great job, but overall I was extremely disappointed in my experience today.

Pros: Beautiful setting, Audra did a nice job on my eyebrows

Cons: Terrible customer service, hard to get an appointment

Ratings_icons Best day spa in Pittsburgh

Esspa really is the best place in Pittsburgh to go for a relaxing spa treatment. I had a luncheon for my bridesmaids there recently and we were all treated wonderfully. They provide a welcoming atmosphere, experienced staff and excellent customer service. What I loved most was my experience with Eva doing my wedding day makeup. She did such a beautiful job and I have already convinced a friend to use Eva for her wedding day makeup. She made me and my shy mother feel totally at ease and confident in her abilities. I highly recommend Esspa and especially Eva!

Ratings_icons Best Spa in Pittsburgh!

I have traveled the country going to day spas! I lived in Chicago and when I moved to Pittsburgh I was a little nervous about finding a new place to get manicures, pedicures and waxing. ESSPA IS IT!!! I was immediately impressed from the moment I walked in the door. I literally fell asleep in my chair during my pedicure. I sipped a great glass of white wine and enjoyed an appetizer from Luma. I took the weight of the world off my shoulders. I have been going to Esspa for one year now and I get everyone gift certificates there- for birthdays, mothers day and Christmas....everyone enjoys going there and being treated as a King or Queen! I highly recommended them to anyone that knows spas!! THEY HAVE MY VOTE!!!

Thank you Eva and Scott.

Ratings_icons Perfect place for a spa party and had a great service

My maid of honor surprised me with a party at ESSpa the weekend before my big day. All my friends, my Mom and MIL to be picked me up in a limo and wouldn't tell me where they were taking me. I have heard of ESSpa but have never been (my maid of honor goes there all the time). It was as good as she said. There were 10 of us and it was as though the spa was there just for us. I had a facial with Eva that didn't make me break out or red - just glowing, and a massage with Lois that made me forget about all the planning. The rest of the girls really enjoyed it too - especially my Mother in law to be. Karen was wonderful with making sure everything went well and everyone seemed to really care that we had a good time. Lois said that they have a lot of men guests so I scheduled a manicure for my man so he would have great looking hands for our big day - I think he liked it. I will definately go back to ESSpa.

Pros: Big, Open Space and Friendly staff

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Customer service lacking

I was very disappointed with this spa. Theprices are that of most day spas. You pay for the service and treatment. If I wanted rude treatment for a manicure and pedicure, I would go to a place that charges $25.00 for each. And to be honest those people are not as rude as these women. I don't know who crowned them Princesses, but they act like they are way better than you. They were rude. They actually asked my friend to leave after she spent $300.00 there. Please save your money and your time. I actually got a manicure and pedicure, but my polish was coming off a day later.........Trust me I was careful. Please save your money and try a different day spa!

Pros: Safe town

Cons: Customer Service, Quality of Services

Ratings_icons World-class massage, great eyelashes and a very good crab cake

joyn910

Esspa is a great place. People seem to know it because they couldn't fit me in for over a month. But it was worth the wait. Jodi gave me a deep tissue massage that was out of this world AMAZING - I have had dozens of massages all over and this was by far the best. I also had a pedicure with Lisa that resulted in very pretty feet and I did this eyelash extension thing which took almost two hours but I now these long beautiful eyelashes which I never had before. I was there for about 5 hours and was pampered the whole day long, they even provided a decent champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. To top it off, the girl at the front desk called over to Luma (restaurant next door) and had a crab cake salad delivered for me to enjoy in some kind of new balcony relaxation area that ESSpa just built. I learned my lesson and scheduled my next visit before I left. ESSpa is my new best monthly treat. BTW - Sundays and Mondays seem to be the best (least busy) days to go. Parking can be an issue so try to get there a little early to find a good spot.

Pros: Treatments, Service, Atmosphere

Cons: Parking

Ratings_icons Less than satisfactory

lovely33

Unfortunately, I had a less than satisfactory experience at this spa. First, I arrived to find that I did not have an appointment and was told that there must have been a mistake. They were able to "fit me in" which meant cramming in my services and cutting some of them short. I really didn't like my facial with Eva; she was very rough and spent a lot of time complaining when I just wanted to relax. I ended up with scabs where she had extracted my blemishes. But I had a great service with Erinn; she does a great wax. And Robert gave a wonderful massage; I highly recommend his deep tissue massage. But facials are my favorite service and I was really disappointed with mine and it was only 40 minutes when I paid for the Traditional European Facial which was supposed to last for over an hour.

Pros: Great massage and waxing

Cons: Parking, Cost (prices go up almost monthly), Complaining owner

Ratings_icons Wonderful spa

This is a wonderful spa. They have a plethora of services to offer. Their facilities are nice, relaxing and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this spa. It is one of my favorite in Pittsburgh. It is a great place to go with a group of friends and book several appointments together.

Pros: Nice facilities, great services, friendly staff

Cons: street parking

This place is 15 miles from my house and it's worth every mile of it. Check out their tremendous list of services on their awesome web site. I have tried almost all of their services and they do a really great job at pampering you. I highly recommend the 90 min. hot stone massage. You truly get al the attention you want here.
I LOVE the hot lava pedicure. Heaven! Most recently I tried one of their facials. I really felt revitalized and fresh after it.
All of the people working at Esspa are nice. They're not stuffy- but some of them are more accomodating than others. I find each person to be an expert in their area and the owner has done a wonderful job in creating a comfortable, relaxing, and interesting environment.
Something for every sense here. Enjoy!!

Pros: Variety of services, experts, ambience

Cons: Metered parking

Ratings_icons I won't go anywhere but ESSpa!

lakwriter

I've been using ESSpa's services since they moved to Aspinwall and I could not be happier. The products are wonderful, the staff is fantastic, the ambiance is very relaxing...you really feel pampered here. My hands and nails always look fabulous thanks to regular appointments with Tracey K. I've also had massages (Mary Ann is the best!), facials, and salt scrubs. Every 3 months a friend and I schedule a spa day together for stress relief-it does the trick! And doesn't break the bank.

Pros: attentive staff, friendly atmosphere, relaxation potential

Cons: limited parking
