I have always had great service at this store. There have been a few different people who have helped me and I have always felt "taken care of". For someone who doesn't know much about wine, it can be intimidating going in to the store, but I know that they will take care of me and my friends always compliment the wine choice.

They have a large range of prices, you can easily spend a lot here, but they have plenty of wine for $12 and under if you're on a budget.

Highly recommend.

Pros: good wine for good prices

I disagree with the other review. These guys are TOP NOTCH. Jason is excellent and very knowledgeable. So much so that my wife and I had him to our home to host a tasting for friends.

They have a very good selection of well known vineyards and we have found some smaller ones that are fantastic. In fact, they recently turned us onto an under $20 PORT that is fantastic.

I highly recommend them.

This store is in my neighborhood, five minutes away from my house, but sometimes I'll take the time to drive all the way to Midtown Liquors. Why? Because despite Grand Cru's good selection, their service is unreliable.

Some of the people working there are really helpful and enthusiastic. There's one older gentleman in particular who is great, and I wouldn't mind paying the buck or two more per bottle if all the people were like that.

But some of the employees are condescending snobs who practically roll their eyes if you buy anything under $10. There's another one who has some OK advice on what to buy, but likes to call female customers "my dear" in a really patronizing way.

So if I've already had a bad day, I don't risk making it worse by going to Grand Cru. To be fair, though, I'm guessing they won't give you the condescending treatment if you drop enough cash -- but that's why it's called "snobbery".

As someone who's lived in Italy, I know that you don't have to spend excessive amounts to get a decent bottle of wine. I just wish the less-informed Grand Cru employees knew that.

Pros: good stuff on racks

Cons: snobby clerks; prices a bit high
