Neat place with a different name and I didn't see any penguins as menu items. The pizza crust had a good flavour, the toppings were right on and the sauce was great. I really enjoyed the staff though, lots of fun and they took good care of us.

Definitely a place I'll go back to.

The penguin is a great place to grab a slice or sit down for a good meal. The slices are only $3 and a full quarter of the pizza. The rest of the food on the menu is also phenomenal. And of course I have to mention the beer selection - fantastic! they always have about 20 beers on tap and many more bottled. There is also a loyal patron system where if you can get one of each type of beer within a year you get your own mug kept there, and a free upgrade from 12 to 16 oz beers! how can you say no?

I love this place!

It is right by my apartment so I am here alot. The pizza is thin crust with great-inventive toppings, and the salads and wraps are good as well.

I always bring people here when they come visit, and their list of beers is amazing!

Penguin is a new place out in Brigham Circle. The atmosphere is small and comfortable. The food, consisting of mainly pizzas and pasta dishes are delightful. The thin crust pizza must be tried, it's great. There are a long list of toppings too! Also, there is a bar, so if you like a beer with your Italian food, you're in luck!

Best thin crust pizza in Boston and fantastic smoothies! This is a local pizza place spun off from Pig's Pizza. It has a small bar and a very cozy yet hip feeling lit by blue neon lights and loud music. The pizza is to die for and you won't find it anywhere else. For instace their Seasonal has roasted butternut squash, goat cheese, fried sage leaves, and braised leeks - yum! Or their Aegean has sliced tomato, spinach, kalamato olives, and feta cheese. Get a smoothie to go with your order. They're very healthy made with fresh fruit and juice and non-fat yogurt. Since expanding to their new location they now offer other Italian food, but I haven't tried that yet. They're pizza is too good not to have!

I've worked in Brigham Circle for a few years now, but only recently discovered Penguin Pizza!

The pizza is fresh and crisp. I highly recommend The Seasonal, a 4 cheese "white" pizza with a butternut squash sauce. The slices are seriously bigger than your head and are totally affordable ($3.25 including tax).

The beer list is amazingly long for any place, and impressively long for such a small restaurant! Seriously, it's about two pages long with an 8 point font. The waitstaff is great at recommending new beers.

Penguin Pizza can get crowded on a Friday night, but head over during the week or for lunch and you're good to go. I'm not in love with the decor and wish they had outdoor space, but that won't stop me from going over for a lunchtime slice (and to sneak a mid-day beer).

Pros: long beer list

Cons: decor leaves something to be desired

Ahh, The Penguin. I would have to say hands down, Penguin takes the cake. First off - the beer. I love beer. Who doesn't? Now I'm a professional. Why? Because of this place. Woah, drinking beer doesn't make you a professional. Well when you drink beer here it does. The passport! The pass port has hundred + beers all from around the world. Different tastes, TEXTURES, and food pairings. Now... when I started there was only 106 beers to drink before I got my lovely mug with my name engraved on. These days there is an upward of 200!!! So get started and get drinking. But now I know so much about beer and different kinds that my family regularly calls me at restuarants mind you to read me off the selections and decide what will go best with their meal.

Nex the pizza, it's in the name right? Ok I am a pizza snob. I'm from NY, I know a good pie, and Penguin does it well! The slices are HUGE. Not like normal huge, but like seriously order one and then wait and see. My favorite is teh Seasonal. It is roasted butternut squash, leeks, sage, goat cheese, and more deliciousness. Believe me nothing tastes better than a slice and a pumpkin head beer.

Now a days they have added more to items to the menu. The pastas are always great. Some of the best fries and don't forget to get the curry sauce. Also Mondays are now 15 cent wing night. Yes you heard right. And they are some of the best wings I've had in a long long time! The food is fresh. The shrimp is amazing, the meatballs are homemade, and the calamari kicks ass(ask for extra sauce). Also I don't know how or really care for that matter BUT BEST FRIES ON THE PLANET. I think it's because they are from the Ireland. LOVE LOVE with side of curry sauce.

Now on to the service. Service is gereat. It gets PACKED in this place. The lovely ladies do the best they can, but honestly it's a small place so you really can't fit more staff. But anyway the ladies (Pam, Yana, Eliza) are always fantastic and adorable. This place would never have been as popular without them.
So.... what are you waiting for? Go already!

Pros: Beer list, fresh crunchy pizza, BEST FRIES ON EARTH

Cons: Smell like garlic when you leave.... is that really bad?

The beer list at this place rivals that of any other in the city; last I counted they boasted one that included 300 or so different varieties. Where else could you pull up a bar stool and take a trip around the world? I know! a place that provides a passport to its "travelers" and encourages you to attempt at least some of the world's finer hopps.

While some of the food leaves something to be desired it is not all that bad, and the pasta dishes are better than average.

Overall, a good bang for the buck!

Pros: Beer

Cons: Gets crowded at times

All of the pizzas I have tried here have been delicious and the beer selection is one of the best in Boston. The pizza is so good I had an eating contest with a friend and ate seven slices. I definitely recommend Penguin, but you should use public transportation so you can avoid having to park.

Pros: Great pizza, huge beer selection

Cons: Fairly small, parking can be difficult

i have eaten a lot of pizza and drank a lot of beer in my day, and after stopping by the penguin on saturday night, i can't imagine finding a better spot to do either, especially in mission hill. service was great; the bartender was quick to check if i needed anything at all the right times. friendly but not intrusive, which is an important distinction in a place like this. pizza was great, huge slices, great tap selection. i'll definitely be back next saturday!

Pros: good service, beer selection

Cons: could use a dart board

This is not my first review. I eat out quite regulary. I love eating out.

First the food: The raviolli with sausage was excellent...Spicy/hot but very tasteful. My friend ordered pizza slices which I tried. They are HUGE. I found them to be tasteful also. Overall I enjoyed the food and "our server".

The atmosphere from what I could gather was nice but there may be something I'm not aware of...please read below. It was very strange.

After we ordered our appetizer and had our drinks "the bartender" and not our server came and stood over me and wouldn't leave until I ordered my main meal. I found this strange. He wouldn't leave our table. I mean, he wasn't even our server than he practically forces me to order my food.....LOL....I was so taken aback I just chose anything...I have never been treated that way before and I go out a lot. We were at our table for only 10 minutes also...We had barely sat down....Also it was 6:00pm so they weren't closing. Question: Why did the bartender feel that he had to come over and make sure that I put my order in immediately...LOL...Talk about weird...I will go back there again for the food but if that happens again he is going to see my other side also if I see him I'm going to bring it up. Very strange.

Pros: Great food, great prices...

Cons: Bartender on Tuesday night was very odd....

I?m a veg and eat a LOT of pizza ? bhop, uhop, upper crust, crazy dough?s, south end, pizzeria regina, etc etc etc., but Penguin takes the cake. Super thin, crispy crust, and homemade sauce with lots of rosemary and spices (yum!). In addition, they boast about 150 selections of bottled beer from around the world - try every one (they give you a checklist), and you get a beer stein with your name engraved on it. COOL!
The atmosphere is cool and quiet with lots of bright colors, hardwood, and brick. I love Penguin Pizza.

As a nurse at Childrens Hospital, I get to the Penguin about twice a week, and it is my favorite place to go to any time of the day, in the beginning it was my lunch hang out, but now I tend to go more in the evening, it has a great vibe to the place. The pizza is great, and you have hundreds of different beers to get drunk on, but for me its the ralaxation of the place, I will have a slice or pasta, a glass of wine and for the most part destress, and read a book and listen to the Juke box and leave several hours later. It reminds me a lot of Amsterdam, or London. I spent a year in Holland and there is something about this place, that has that flavor to it. The staff are very nice, the crowd is a mix of hospital staff, students and locals. Not a bad place to watch a ball game, I found the place when I was with a co-worker who was looking for a place that was showing the soccer world cup, this place had it and the accents from the staff, gave it an atmosphere!
I can not say enough about the penguin, I hope this is helpful and that you enjoy it!!!

Pros: Relaxed, casual, gourmet food, great music

★☆☆☆☆

I loved this place until recently. A few examples:
*They had the best smoothies around but they stopped serving them.
*Their pizza has gone way down in quality. They have almost no topping on them and the crust is paper thin.
*We had a very ditzy, and somewhat rude, waitress who forgot that we were there. She disappeared and we were stuck there for two hours before we ever got a bill. Then, she had the nerve to add a gratuity (even though we were just in a group of four!). When we didn't give her the full amount of added gratuity (20%) to our bill, she stopped us on our way out.

Pros: prices are good

Cons: terrible service, pizza has gone downhill, other menu food is not good

★★★★★

Penguin Pizza, is a cool place. Gourmet Pizza, they are very inventive. After years of average pizza. Penguin has shown Boston what you have been missing. It has a European feel about it.
The owner is from London, bar staff from Ireland. They have a beer club, they have over 150 beers. It is a hard place to leave once you get comfortable. My favorite Pizza is the Three Tomato, a pesto base, with Yellow, Plum and Cherry Tomatoes. I have also enjoyed thier Pasta.
They have a great Carbonara. They play a lot of eighties music, which is easy on the ears.
The crowd is very mixed Locals, Students and people who appreciate the place who travel a couple of miles. Enjoy the Place!!

Good Pizza, particularly in a city lacking in such delicacies. Penguin os worth the visit for a slice or two.

Pros: Pizza, beer, just right

Cons: Parking

★★★★★

Penguin Pizza have got it right they make great thin crust Pizza. They also have about a hundred odd beers. I read about Penguin Pizza in the Boston Globe Calander section.
And was impressed by their review. I stopped by, and have been stopping by ever sence. It has a great vibe to it. It represents the neighborhood. I have seen the Mayor in there. Old folks and College Kids. My favorite Pizza is called the Seasonal it has Butternut Squash, leeks and Goat cheese amoung its ingrediants. I just joined their Beer Club. I have to sample another 84 varieties, but lifes tough! They have decent Pasta, a plate is enough food for a small family and costs 7 bucks. The Bar staff are very friendly and as diverse as their Beer and Pizza. I have also got lucky there on occasion!!

Pros: Great Food, Great Beer Selection, I have got lucky ther

I work in the Longwood area so I get to have penguin pizza on a regular basis. I love their thin crust. The variety of toppings is also wonderful (duck, squash, plus the regulars like good old pepperoni). If you want to be impressed, try one of their unique pizzas becuase I find plain cheese to be a bit boring there. The waitresses are always rushed but still efficient if not the friendliest around. Unfortunately it is a VERY loud place. My husband and I had to yell at each other across a 2 person table to hear each other on a Friday night. 2-3 people can eat very well from a medium pizza which seems like a bargain. For eating in I would have to warn you not to expect to hear each other or have great service, but I would definately recommend it for carry-out or delivery.

Pros: Good pizza

Cons: Loud, Slow

★★★★★

Great pizza. Flat, hand thrown, good use of ingredients. They use hand cut bacon...irish style. Best Hawain pizza I've ever had. The butternut squash seasonal is perfect. And they deliver.
