Consumer Credit Counseling Services claim to help you pay off outstanding loans and reduce your debt, but in my opinion they are a rip-off. Before you start your monthly payment plan, they want you to make a "contribution" that is equivalent to one month's payment. Thereafter, you have to continuously make a "contribution" in addition to paying the required amounts to your creditors. One month I said I couldn't afford to pay the "contribution" and could only afford to pay my creditors, and they said I had to pay the contribution, as they would deduct that first before distributing payment to my creditors. I said that's crazy! This company is suppossed to help people get out of debt, but yet if you're hard on cash, they make you pay their "contribution" before they distribute money to your creditors....honestly, this is a rip-off and waste of money and you're better off making payment arrangements directly with your creditors. Also, it's a pain to enroll in the program because you have to get all your statements and fill out this annoying form.
