The first time I went to M. Y. Salon was due to a gift certificate that I received for my birthday. It was the best gift I've ever gotten.

I have been going to M. Y. Salon for three years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Yolanda and her sisters are the best hair stylists around and they are wonderful people as well.

They are so very friendly and genuinely care about you. The sisters all work together as a team and help each other out. You feel very special and cared for what ever service you might be getting done.

I always get my hair colored and cut when I visit Yolanda. She has always done a fantastic job with the color and my cut is awesome! She even mixes the different color degrees to match you hair just right. By the time I leave her salon, I look and feel 10 years younger! When I get home, my husband always says, lets go out on a date - you look great! That makes my whole day! Thank you, M. Y. Salon!

M.Y. Salon is hands down the best salon I have ever been to. I will never go anywhere else to get my hair done except here. The staff is as talented as they are kind and caring, which makes the overall experience always pleasant. I have never left the salon feeling like they didn't do what I wanted nor have I ever left feeling disappointed. I have tried many different hairstyles and have experimented quite a bit with highlights and colors and they have always come out fantastic. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone I know. The quality and service is always above and beyond what you expect at your typical salon and the results are always top notch. If you haven't been here yet... what are you waiting for?!

I wish that there were more stars so I can show how much of a positive experience I have every time I go in for a men's haircut. The family who owns it is extremely friendly and very helpful. I have gotten my hair cut from Yolanda and my girlfriend gets her done by maria and we have always been satisfied! If your in the Boston area I definitely recommend this salon!!!

I've known Yolanda and her sisters since I was a little girl and they always do such a great job on my hair every time I visit. My mom and some of our close family friends are also regulars and we're never disappointed :)

I had a great experience at M.y> salon, and especially with Carina the other day.
I had never been there and I plan on making this my go to place. Carina gave me a fantastic mani/pedi. She was thoughtful and made sure it was perfect.

She also gave me a wash and blow dry which i am still getting compliments on two days later!

it is a family owned business, and everyone was very friendly and seemed happy to be there.

Before finding M.Y. Salon, I had tried other salons in Boston (including several on Newbury Street) and in Cambridge. I finally decided to look in my own neighborhood, and am so glad that I did. I have been getting my hair cut at this salon for a few years now, and not once have I had less than a PERFECT cut. Seriously. And my hair is difficult to cut, in the sense that it is board straight, so any unevenness is immediately apparent. The ambiance is wonderful, the salon is clean, the owners-Yolanda and Maria--are wonderful, caring people, and highly talented and professional.

HI! Maria at MY Salon does the hair of kids with autism, aspergers, sensory issues and other special needs and does a great job! She is absolutely wonderful and very caring and kind, and the kids are very comfortable with her. Many of them have a very hard time with haircuts and she makes the experience okay, or even good, for them. Please check her out if you have a child with special needs or who hates haircuts, she will do a terrific job and you will never want to go anywhere else! She has been doing hair for these kids for over 15 years and is just second-to-none for providing hair care for these kids who need special attention!

MY Salon provides excellent hair coloring and cutting for me, and also nail and waxing services. Maria and Yolanda are the owners and are wonderful women with big hearts and great skill in their field. I have been having my hair colored, cut and styled by them since 2006 and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Give them a try, they will do a great job for you and they are so friendly and nice that the experience will be especially enjoyable. They also do the hair and nails of the kids in my life, both boys and girls, and do a great job with them, even with ones who have difficulty with having their hair cut for any reason, including autism and sensory issues.

Wow- it has been a little over a year since I had my hair done here and I have been thinking about writing this review for quite some time. The experience was so bad that it has stuck in the forefront of my memory.
I recently moved to the area and was looking to try a new salon near me and saw all the great reviews, so I thought I'd give it a try. I should have looked at yelp first, though, as that tells the real scoop.
First, when I showed up the lady who was supposed to cut my hair didn't show up because she was sick, so I had to wait a while for another (only other) hair stylist to finish her appointment before doing mine. It was inconsiderate and unprofessional.
The sole purpose of my hair cut was to cut off my hair to give to Locks of Love. The minimum length you need is 10 inches to donate, and I wanted to cut off the minimum. Instead she cut off 14 inches! Cutting off 10 is already a ton, but then to cut off 4 more!
I was engaged when I had my hair cut and had hopes of growing my hair back long in time for the wedding which was in a year. My hair grew quickly and was almost long enough for the hair style I wanted for my wedding day- but was just about 4 inches short! go figure. So I had to spend $100 on extensions to add length to my hair because this salon messed up. Thanks!
I felt like she did a haphazard job on my hair and rushed, so she could move on to the next girl's hair because they were behind and she was the only one working.
I was also not at all impressed with the looks of the place. It definitely needed updating and was just dirty and drab.
Then she had the nerve to tell me to make sure to post a good review online... unbelievable. I'm sure that's the main reason she's gotten all these great reviews she doesn't deserve. Well, I did make sure to post the review as requested, but instead told the truth about this place.

Everyone is weary about getting there hair done if you are like me you may have had horrible experiences at the salon. As soon as you enter the seat you are eased by the warm atmospher of MY salon. MY salon is run by three sisters who excel in what they do Lori, Maria, and Yolanda they are passionate hair stylist and their passion for their work is evident in their results. I now have gorgeous healthy hair cut and with a beautiful highlight that best compliments me. :) Overall, if you are looking for a trustworthy sucessful experience at the hair salon book an appointment now !

My boyfriend works in the same building as M.Y. salon and gets his hair cut there on occasion, he always had good things to say about the ladies who worked there and their service. I made an appointment and despite hitting traffic and being almost an hour late (I hate being late and apologized about 1000 times) they were completely understanding and professional. The entire experience was relaxing and comfortable. They use Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner that smells unbelievable and left my hair feeling healthy with a great shine. I have long, dark, very thick hair that I hadn't got cut in almost a year fearing I would go to the wrong person and end up with a mullet, but Maria knew exactly what to do and gave me one of my favorite cuts I've ever had. She was even nice enough to give me some tips and pointers on how to blow dry my hair and get more volume. Very knowledgeable staff and 5 star service!

I discovered MY Salon when my sister gave me a gift card to the salon as a birthday gift. She lives out of state and selected MY Salon because it had such good reviews on-line. Ever since I got my first hair cut and color, I've continued to get my hair done here. Yolanda and her staff are so very friendly and professional. They treat you like you are part of their family....so generous and considerate. They do a great job with hair color and cuts and are very reasonably priced. MY Salon Arlington, is a unique place, because of the people there. They are friendly, unpretentious and do great work. As long as I live in Massachusetts I will be going to MY Salon for all my salon needs.

I started going to MY Salon because it was right near my kids' karate classes, but I continue going because it is a great salon!

I get my hair cut and colored there, and I always receive lots of compliments on the color and style. Yolanda and staff do a wonderful job and are always welcoming. I sometimes bring my kids along, and the staff always make them comfortable too (providing snacks and drinks, magazines to look at, and comfy places to sit).

They also do wonderful manicures and pedicures. All in all, this is a great salon -- great services and excellent prices too!

I moved back to the Boston area in 2009 and was lucky enough to find this salon right away. I've been going there for the last year and have had wonderful experiences every time. My hair not only looks good when I walk out, but it's cut well enough that when I do it myself - or don't do it which is more often the case - it still looks good. My husband and children all go as well - everyone in our family is a happy customer. M.Y. salon is our family salon!

I have been a customer of MY for so long I can't count the years. The staff is the best! I was lucky enough to experience a new service they are offering with spray tanning. I was a little reluctant because I am so fair and always heard that it make you a little orange. I look very natural and am quite pleased with the color. I was complimented tonight that my face looks 10 years younger. I would definitely do it again and highly recommend it.

I 've always been extremely attached to my hair - it's my security blanket LOL :) So I am *really* picky about cuts and color. When I moved to town 5 years ago I went to two other salons with lukewarm results at best. Stumbling upon M.Y. was the best thing that happened to my hair - ever! I 've been going regularly for two years now for a 2 color foil highlight/lowlight process and cuts. My hair never looked better. I LOVE both Maria and Yolanda - they are both excellent. I have never left unhappy and can't imagine going anyplace else. They take such care and pride in their work. I trust them implicitly. I'd also highly recommend Preete for waxing - she makes the, um, awkward experience of fancy bikini waxes feel as non-chalant and comfortable as chatting with a friend over coffee. LOL :) Excellent, excellent salon. Highly recommend with zero reservations.

My hairdresser of 10 years left her business and I was forced to find another stylist (gasp)! This is a very serious relationship and not one one to be taken lightly. I had been taking my daughter to M.Y. for a few months (due to a recommendation and location covenience) and decided to try it myself. I'm happy to say, I've found my new stylist. I feel like a part of the family as soon as I walk in the door. The space is bright, light, airy and very inviting. And, I love my cuts. In a short time, Yolanda has understood the ""intricacies"" of my hair and has given me fantastic cuts (at least that's the feedback I get from my coworkers). Definitely go to M.Y. You will not be disappointed!

I never write reviews, but this time I had to. I found M.Y. Salon after seeing the great reviews on CitySearch. After visiting this Salon, all I can say is WOW!! My hair came out gorgeous!! I went from brassy copper color hair, to this stunning rich brown, with hazelnut lowlights. I had it colored, cut and styled, and a month later I am still getting compliments! MARIA did my hair and it has never looked better, as if I stepped out of a Newbury Salon for a better price! Even my friends who go to Newbury Salons wanted the name of my hairdresser. There's free parking on Mass Ave and on the side streets, and the salon is very accomodating with their appointments. And Maria does great work and has FABULOUS TASTE!! I explained what I wanted to her, and she gave me something even better than what I had imagined, the color, highlights were perfect. She has become my stylist. Also, my hair is thick and coarse, and hairdressers are unable to blowdry my hair, but MARIA is able to give me the most amazing blowdry ever. And I ALWAYS step out of that salon with stunningly beautiful hair. If I could, I would even post photos of how my hair looks. I am a loyal customer for years to come. Great place. Clean, professional, friendly environment. I've been getting my hair cut by Yolanda for about 3 years now. She does a wonderful job. I used to go to Vidal Sassoon on Newbury St., but wanted a salon closer to home. At M.Y. Salon, I get the same quality cut (better, even, in my opinion) at a more reasonable price and without the silly attitude. I'm thrilled to have found them. HIGHLY recommend.

I love this place. Maria gives a great haircut, everyone is very friendly and warm. It feels like a family salon - a little old fashioned and very, very nice. Just a happy place. And the young woman who does eyebrow threading (Pritti, probably spelled wrong) is the best - painless, precise, quick.

I have been to many salons, and have had a lot of different people cut my hair but now I can finally say I found someone who truely does an amazing job cutting and styling my hair! I have been going to Cassey and she is awesome! I totally trust her with my hair she makes me feel comfortable and cuts and styles it in a way that suits me best. She even fixed my hair after a beauty school disaster!!!! I definitely reccommend this salon and Cassey is wicked good! You wont be disappointed.

I've been going to MY salon for about 3 years and was referred by a friend on mine. What a great referral. The stylists are wonderful, friendly, and best of all, listen to what you want. My hair is short and curly and could never get a good cut until I went to Maria. Maria listens to what I want and completes the job. \r

I have been a loyal customer of Yolanda at MY Salon for 13 years, and I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else! She and her staff are awesome!!! They are always able to make my hair look great, whether they are coloring, cutting, or styling it. They also have manicurists and waxers or threaders available, and can usually fit you in spur of the moment. It is a great place for an afternoon of pampering. This is a wonderful family run business that in my honest opinion is more comfortable, affordable and, talented than any salon on Newbury St. Another great bonus is the fact that parking is always available and always free! I highly recommend that you give them a try, I always leave with a smile on my face and gorgeous hair.

Every time I have gone to MY Salon in Arlington, I feel like I am part of the family! The comfortable atmosphere makes for a relaxing and non-stuffy salon experience. Maria transformed my hair from a long, curly basic style to a trendy shorter cut that I am constantly receiving compliments on! They ask all the right questions in order to give a cut that you like as well as provide expertise and suggestions for what will suit you best! I am a happy returning customer that highly recommends MY Salon!

M.Y. is a really good salon. It has a real family feeling, very warm and welcoming, with family members dropping in, and sisters at the helm. I love that kind of atmosphere. Maria cut my hair and I couldn't have been happier. Nice place.

I originally went to M.Y. on a whim, about a year or so ago, I had been searching for a new place to get my hair done for months and I finally found a place and now its the only place I will go! The staff is awesome, so friendly and family oriented. They all have great personalities and are sooo friendly! I've seen Maria a couple of times and she is AWESOME, I absolutely LOVE how my hair comes out every time. Recently I went in and had a few different people working on me at once (thats team work) and it came out gorgeous! I highly reccomend going there and seeing anyone who works there, if you don't come out looking gorgeous and absolutely love your hair I would be completely shocked!

I've only gone here twice, but both times my hair ended up looking great! I usually just put my hair back in a ponytail, but the ladies gave me some advice on how to style it quickly, and I wear my hair down all the time now. They are all so friendly and nice, every time I go I have fun and get a great cut. I've also had a facial there too, extremely relaxing and cleansing, and got my eyebrows threaded. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a reasonably priced haircut or spa services, not to mention a great staff!

I have been going to MY Salon for 3 years and I can honestly say that they offer amazing services in a friendly atmosphere. Every time I go, they treat me like family, and I feel like a million bucks when I walk out. I have my hair cut and colored and receive compliments after every visit. Yolanda is the nicest, most patient person I have ever had do my hair. Because of the great experiences I have had, I have also recommended 2 of my friends, who love it just as much. \r
The pedicures by Tina are wonderfully relaxing and her work is impeccable.

I have been going to this salon since it opened a couple of years ago and I have NEVER been disappointed! Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with, not to mention they all know what they are doing! I used to get my hair cut at another place and I hated it every time I left and sometimes even left in tears. That has never once happened to me at M.Y. Salon. They do everything from hair to nails and waxing and now they even do facials which I hear are pretty great. Also, they are very creative and they always know what you want and how you want it. They are also willing to try different cuts and colors that are trendy and stylish. Even if you want to put crazy colors together like very dark brown (almost black) and blonde together for some funky new look, they will do it. This salon is nothing short of amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new hair dresser!! Thanks M.Y. Salon, I am finally happy with my hair.

My hair used to be so-so... now that I go to MY Salon, it's gorgeous. Especially the color - it's so natural, but still vibrant and rich (and I only get a one-process color). I love my haircuts from here too. Recently I saw Jennifer Garner in a Cambridge coffee shop (no Ben) and decided I wanted her bangs. I was nervous about it - hey I'm no Jennifer Garner - but the stylists at MY assured me I'd look fabulous with bangs. And they went the extra mile to go through magazines and Google images to find exactly the style I was trying to describe. I walked out of the salon feeling as beautiful as Jennifer herself! \r

But as great as they are at making your hair look gorgeous, the best reason to go to MY Salon is the people. The women there (who all seem to be related, but they treat eveyone like family) are truly some of the sweetest people I've met. The first time I went to their salon (on the recommendation of a friend), I got completely lost. The sisters at MY kept me on the phone until I got there (trading the phone back and forth), even though it was a Saturday and they were busy. Then when I came in, they all smiled and applauded my arrival. And this was the first time I met them. I just always feel really special when I go to this salon. \r

I should add that I now live in JP and drive all the way to Arlington just to get my hair done - it's so worth it!

First off, i am a straght male, I have been coming to get my haircuts from Yolanda for over 10 years (before this location even opened). All I can say is if you want to get nonstop compliments on your hair for a ridiculously low price, go here. Over the years, I have tried other salons closer to where I live, most of them being way more expensive, and i have always been dissapointed. Once you start going here its difficult to stop.

I absolutely LOVE M.Y. Salon! Everyone is so friendly and professional. I am always greeted with a smile and everyone knows my name! I actually live a 5 minute walk from some of the best salons on Newbury St. in Boston, but I could never leave Cassey @ M.Y., so I drive out to Arlington just to see her!!!!! I have complete trust in this salon and the stylists that work there. They do amazing highlights, cuts and BLOWDRIES!!!!!! They are also very flexible and will fit you in, even if they are busy. I also like to get manicures and pedicures by Tina... she is AWESOME!! My friends and I all come here all the time, and I would recommend this salon to anyone! Excellent service with a smile :)

I have been to many salons and finally found the one for me. I travel a half hour to get to the salon,and would travel 2 hrs if i had to. The owners, actually everyone that works there are all amazing people.you feel so welcome when you enter the salon. they hang your coat ,offer you coffee,cookies etc.... i feel like a super star when i walk in there( like i am somebody important!!) not only are they the best in hair color foils, cuts, styles, and blowdries. you name it they can do it and do an amazing job at it! I like to get a little crazy at times with color and they do exactly what i want not what they think i should do like most salons have a bad habbit of doing!! My best experince with the girls at m.y salon is having my daughters 8th birthday party there 8 girls dressed up in dresses met at the salon and they set up different stations so all the girls werent standing around they had one woman painting nails ,one doing makeup ,and another doing the girls hair. We took pictures of all the girls after they were down can we say stunning! my daughter still thanks me today.'A girls day of beauty' is the theme for a great birhtday party!Also me and my daugher go together and have a great mother daughter day.I have 4 people in my town that i have brought down to experince M.Y. salon and they also travel a half hour to get there and still go to this day! My statement that I say to everyone who stops me in grocery stores gas stations dunkin donuts, ect.. ask were i get my hair done that they love the foils and the style my response M.Y. I want everyone to know about MY Salon. The owners& employee are so so nice, they know hair and skin, are so honest, very accomidating! They make you feel like your the most special customer and you leave feeling and looking beautiful!! JUST GO THERE!

EXCELLENT cut and color. I have VERY curly hair and can somewhat be difficult to do, but she did a terrific job. One of the owners, Yolanda, did my color. My hair is brown but with the color added a tint of a violet red, very subtle and very beautiful. She also cut my hair, and she is the best stylist that has ever cut my hair. I watched the other sisters with their clients, just as good! You can tell they are VERY experienced. One of them, Maria, dried my hair beautifully. It is nice and straight and will last me a few days. (You can do that with thick curly hair)The owners are all sisters and are the nicest people you'll ever meet. An upscale salon without the attitude. Very down to earth. The salon is beautiful inside. Relaxing atomosphere. I live in Wareham Ma. and they are worth the trip.

THIS IS A FAMILY BUSINESS AND YOU BECOME FAMILY ONCE YOU WALK THRU THERE DOOR. AND THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING TO SATISFY YOU. THERE PRICES ARE COMPRABLE TO OTHER SALONS. THEY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND WITH THERE WARMTH AND CAREING STAFF. DONT TAKE MY WORD FOT IT, TRY THEM FOR YOURSELF, I AM POSITIVE YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. I WAS AND STILL AM.

Worst Experience EVER! Not worth the $$ - I had my hair colored with one of the owners, i wont name names to spare her the embarrassment, i have a heart! it looked like i got my hair colored by a Barbazon trainee it was brassy and it fried my hair, not only that, the cut was juvenile and so 5 years ago. They're still doing the Jennifer Aniston style of the early 90's in this place - i saw. I should have known better by the look of the place the decor was ""cheesy"" and the hair of almost every employee in there was brutal. I complained and the manager/owner did NOTHING except look at me with a blank stare after telling me it looked NICE!!!!!!! I'll be the judge of that sister........it was horrid, and i had to spend hundreds of dollars to correct the mess.

I went to M.Y. Salon to have my hair highlighted and restyled. Not only did they listen to my desires, they consulted on what would look best on me. My hair has never looked so amazing! They use only top-of-the-line products, and are the nicest sisters you will ever meet. I felt comfortable, like I'd been going there for years. And after this, I will be! It was a bit pricey, but the service and amazing outcomes were worth it. I didn't see one woman walk out of there without fabulous hair - one girl with very curly hair had a beautiful cut. \r
They squeezed me in at the last moment, they are open late, and are flexible. \r
Go there. You'll love it.\r
(And it's right on the 77 bus route!)
