I purchased and planted a couple of trees in the fall. It is now Spring and one of the trees died over the winter. Home Depots policy is they will refund or replace up to a year. Over the long winter I had lost the receipts and was told they can not look it up by credit card # and they will not refund. Now Menards and Lowes can go back a year or more on purchased made on a credit card. They even have a computer you can slide your card through and pull up all your receipts. I will never shop at Home Depot again. No wonder their stock has dropped and they have to close 15 stores!! Good luck staying in business with your attitudes!!

Hello,

I am writing this email in regards to the very unpleasant customer service that was received in the Carpentersvilee, IL. store in the early afternoon tuesday, oct.4. To sum up briefly what occurred, the associate named "Bill" working in the paint department was extremely rude and vulgar in comments and demeanor towards my wife. She was just trying to inquire about a painting project we are currently working on by asking him several questions, but he was being outwardly rude and annoyed by her asking him questions while he was in a personal conversation with another associate. It wasn't this unprofessional behavior that prompted me to send this email, but the fact he had to call her several hurtful and vulgar insults, including "an F*****n bitch," when he thought she couldn't hear him down the aisle. She came home in tears after this incident, and nobody who is this hostile and insulting should ever be in a position serving the public, period. I tried on two occassions to contact the store manager there regarding this, but they have never been available when I called. I am not expecting much, if anything to be done about this given this Bill is apparently an example of service in this company. Needless to say, I will never again be shopping at a Home Depot when there are now several other names just as big like Lowe's to shop at, especially after being so insulted. Please do your company a favor, and be alot more selective in the future on the people you hire to represent your company.

Last week I wanted to build a shelf in my basement so I need some supplies. I went to the Home Depot outisde of Springhill mall. Like all Home Depots this one is huge and seems like the meca of home repair and construction needs. But in its completely huge size it makes itself into a gigantic maze. The signing always confuses me because i'm never looking for items that can be easily defined. As I walked in I asked one of the cashiers if she knew where the shelf boards were. She pointed me in the direction of the raw wood materials but I was looking for something a little more manufactured than 4x6 slates of board. I walked around for ten minutes or so unable to find exactly what I was looking for. I hadn't seen anyone to ask at this point so I ventured away from the area to find some help. I approached a circle of 5 workers who were busy talking. I approached them and stood behind them for about a minute, completely ignored, and I was staring right at one of them for a while, he made eye contact with me at least 3 times before I butted into their conversation and asked if they knew where the shelves were. I was quickly told that they were in some aisle over in some direction, then the conversation quickly resumed. Of course all the information I had gathered was wrong. So i asked a older gentleman with gray hair and glasses if he knew where the shelves were. He personally took me to the shelves which were 7 or 8 aisles over from where the cirlce told me they were. I would've been there all night if it weren't for the one gentleman. It took me about 15 minutes to finally decide and when I was leaving I walked past where the circle was and they were still talking, but this time some of them had taken up resting positions on the shelving and a computer station desk. I know I'd be mad if I was paying those guys to talk and discourage customer experience. I'll probably try to get away with shopping at the Menards next time.
