ANNOYED!!!

Since Commerce Bank became TD Bank, the service has been degrading to say the least.
You can make deposit before 6 and have it available by the next day, except this only applies in theory. They like closing the cashier earlier than they are supposed to in order to save a few extra minutes (sometimes this happen 30 minutes earlier) and then your money isn't on your account the next day. Make sure you double check with them because they won't even bother telling you and you might find yourself surprised when you're using your debit card the next day and the transaction is refused.
They also removed my maiden name from the account without my permission, but still would accept all the checks on that name until now, since I pinpointed that fact to them on another occasion. You would think identity verification in a bank is a must. Now, I have to go there even though I have better things to do, to fix the mistake of incompetent people.
They also won't bother giving you another branch address in the city because they supposedly don't have access to such an information. Funny when you see them all sitting in front of a computer with internet.

I have been doing banking with this bank for many years. They are so quick to help you and always friendly. no fees, and free checking. Nothing hidden about them. They have great hours. They are open until 8:00pm which is unheard in the banking world.

Normally choosing a bank is largely based on deciding which one will screw you the least, but Commerce Bank seems to defy that bit of conventional wisdom. An alternative to the corporate behemoths, Commerce has kind of a friendly local vibe going on, and is open 7 days a week. You gotta give them credit - in the trade-off between folksy customer service and proper security measures, they opt for the former; the lack of bulletproof teller windows earns them the dubious honor of being robbed more than any other bank in New York. The Penny Arcade is pretty fun too (there's a little one for the kids' piggy banks).
