I went to Dov for a wig a few months ago, having been diagnosed with cancer. As a woman in my late 20s, I needed to find a wig that was going to keep my secret (and still make me look good) in public. Dov immediately put me at ease with his compassionate attitude and professionalism. He worked with me to find a color and style that would suit my face and mimick my natural hair. The wig looks so natural, even people who know my diagnosis think I haven't lost my hair yet. I think it looks better than my natural hair! I would recommend Dov to anyone (men and women) who are experiencing hair loss for any reason if they are looking for an expert in wigs and hair pieces with a heaping side of understanding and compassion.

Dov is not only a talented and skilled hairdresser and wigmaker, he's the most honest person. He will never sell you something that you don't need or doesn't meet your or his expectations. Suffering from thinning hair for five years I find his hairpieces life altering. He knows how to give a woman back her self- confidence and self esteem. I went to DOV salon to get a wig for religious reasons. His kippah falls are truly amazing and he's so nice and accomidating to work with. I work in fashion and nobody will know I am wearing it. He worked with me to design the perfect piece and and showed me how to wear it so that it looks the most natural. The cut and color match my hair exactly. I recommend Dov to anybody that covers their hair.

One of Dov's best kept secrets is that he works with men as well as women. Luckily, I found that out recently, and took a chance based on a friend's recommendation as well as Dov's great reputation. I brought him a hairpiece someone else had made, but that needed to be shaped, fitted, and styled for me. Dov worked hard to address all my concerns, and I am delighted with the outcome... So much so that I intend to have Dov be my stylist going forward, and make my future pieces from scratch. I am excited about that prospect now that I have had first-hand experience of his talent, flair, and dedication. An unexpected benefit of working with Dov is that he is extremely personable, with an engaging personality that makes him a pleasure to be around.

I went to DOV this past August in hopes of finding a wig that would best accomodate my lifestyle and needs and I have to say that I am delighted with my purchase and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOV! I am one of 6 children and the only one to unfortunately be diagnosed with Alopecia at the age of 7 (I am now 29). I have had mutliple experiences with different wigs and different salons and this is the first one that actually made me feel "normal". After 22 years of living without hair, one forgets the simple pleasures of having a hair style cut and styled to your desire. He made me feel so at ease with the entire process and we discussed different styles that would work best for me. Dov is very patient and not pushy and very professional. He was so accomodating to my hectic schedule and the time frame that I could come and see him (I live 2 hours away). My entire family (purchasing a wig for me is a family affair as I need the input of my older sisters and parents )was very impressed with his mannerism, experience with various individuals (he has a wide clientel basis) and style/knowledge of hair. I feel that I can say for the first time ever that I have a Hair STYLIST.. As I said earlier, he is very experienced and patient and more than willing to accomodate your needs. Ladies and Gentleman -he is worth it! I love my new hairstyle!

When I met Dov, I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and was preparing for the inevitable loss of my hair. With all I had to deal with, losing my hair probably shouldn't have been at the top of my list of concerns, and yet as I was only in my early 30s, it was right up there. Dov recognized this right away and instantly surrounded me with kindness, compassion and understanding. Through the process he not only wiped away many tears, and helped guide me through my ?loss? one day at a time, he also crafted for me the most perfect wig. I always joke it?s my old hair, only better! I went to some of the other, more well-known places in the city before making my decision and there really was no comparison. I have received so many compliments and even those who know what I?m going through, and suspect I must be wearing a wig, have had to ask as they just can?t tell. I hope no one reading this ever has to deal with the loss of their hair, but if you do, I would recommend Dov without hesitation; as a stylist and as a person there is no better.

I went to DOV salon because I was diagnosed with cancer and I lost my hair. Since I walked into the salon I felt that I was in the right place, the staff are nice, the place is so relaxing and Dov is such a great person !, words aren't good enough to described him, spiritual, sensitive, special.

The piece that I have now is so natural, it looks great, color and texture is beautiful. Every single day I receive lots of compliments of my hair, the best of all is that nobody realize that is a wig.

Dov is a must for women who have thin hair, hair loss or simply want a great new style. I recently had a clip-on hair piece made for my very thinning hair. It is a stunning piece and no one could tell I had on a hair piece. The hair matched my own perfectly and the style was nothing short of brilliant. Dov knows how to work with all types of hair and create amazing styles, with and without hair pieces.

While searching the internet for suggestions for the best person to help women with thinning hair, I found Dov was the overwhelmingly popular name that kept coming up. After working with him, I know why! I flew up to New York from Atlanta specifically to see him and it was worth the extra effort. He fitted me with a beautiful, natural lightweight hairpiece that added volume, covered thinning areas showing my scalp and embarrassed me, and helped me regain my confidence in my appearance. It looks completely natural, matches my color perfectly, is easy to put on and once on my head I don't even remember it is there. He gave me a wonderful cut and I left looking like myself, but better. He is just the nicest man, as are the women who work with him at the salon. I would recommend him to anyone who needs someone to work some magic on their hair!

Having Alopecia Universalis, I have needed to wear a wig for nearly 30 years. Periodically, there have had to be changes in style, often a somewhat traumatic occasion. The most recent hair crisis involved not only a change of style, but also a change of color. In my search for a new me that the old me could recognize, I wound up with a wig of beautiful but unstyled hair. This was a wig that would need the best stylist. Of course, being bald, I didn't have a hairstylist, and for this particular problem, no one else seemed able to help. I began to panic; how could I get this wig styled so that I could wear it? Then I remembered that I had once seen an article in the New York Times that raved about a hairstylist who worked with wigs. A safari through my archives located the article from March 14, 2004 about this man named Dov. I found him and what a find! First, he is a terrific person. Second, his energy and enthusiasm when working are amazing - you are watching art. Finally, the results are Fantastic! I now have a beautiful new me. This was an occasion that brought me from panic to perfection. I am deeply grateful, Dov.

I was introduced to Dov by my trainer who is also a male model with "perfect" hair. I of course wanted to look just like him so I made an appointment. Dov's salon on East 57th Street is very conveniently located. I liked him immediately. I had let my hair grow sort of wild, so I needed more than a haircut, I needed a new "look." I sat down in the chair in the sparkling clean and peaceful space overlooking bustling midtown Manhattan and watched in the mirror as Dov sculpted my wild mane into a sophisticated stylish haircut that was perfect for my personality and lifestyle. I have been back many times, but not as often as with some other stylists because his haircuts last. Once I went on a two month trip to the Middle East and although my hair got long, it was always in "shape." Dov has since become a very good friend. He is funny, clever, kind and sharing. I don't know if everyone knows, how good he is with men's hair. I recommend giving him a try.

There are not enough good things to say about Dov and his salon.

DOV IS TALENTED, KIND, PATIENT, COMPASSIONATE and FUN!

When we first found out that chemotherapy would take its toll on my dear friend's beautiful hair, we immediately began looking into salons offering realistic, natural looking wigs.

After a dramatic appointment at the first salon we visited (which will remain nameless....but it is a BIG name) my friend left teary eyed, overwhelmed, and shocked at the sticker price of their options. It was difficult enough to deal the pending hair loss but to have pushy, impatient, know it all salespeople pushing overpriced products, was just too much. In short, we left depressed. We were not looking forward to visiting another salon.

But then we met with Dov. Right away, I could tell he was a genuine, loving and caring person. He listened to my friend, let her take her time, and comforted her throughout the process. He addressed all of her concerns, offered advice but did not push, carried an identical product at substantially less than the competition, and provided exceptional customer service. Before the appointment was over I could tell that she wanted to move forward with Dov.

As my friend adjusts to the coming year in a wig, she has already visited Dov several times. First Dov cut bangs for her to ease the transition to the wig. Then he styled and highlighted a human hair wig rendering it IDENTICAL to her long, blonde hair. Most recently Dov cut her hair shorter as she began to lose it. Every time she sees him, he is charming, warm, friendly and does a GREAT job.

I know that G_d put Dov in our path to make things a bit easier for my friend. He has given her a true gift; the next best thing to her actual hair. In fact, I am certain that no-one who didn?t know about her illness would even notice a difference in her appearance. After all that is exactly what she wanted.

I was at Dov's for about 5 hours last week having my hair straightened - the atmosphere is so great that I didn't even mind sitting still for that long! I've gotten so many compliments over the past few days and can't wait to go back to get the color done in a few weeks. Dov was also able to find me a hair piece that night and I left the salon wearing it. It looks awesome and I love it!

Going to DOV's Salon was a dream come true.

My hair was a wreck and I needed help.....Badly!! My niece recommended me to him.

I'm a Flight Attendant and I was looking for a precision cut that looked great and was easy
to do at home. You all know how this goes... Your stylist does a GREAT cut and it looks
PERFECT @ at the salon. The next day ... fugedaboutit!!

DOV is an ARTIST who 'LISTENS TO YOU' !!! It's been almost 2 weeks and my hair still looks
FABULOUS!

His staff is VERY personable and they cater to your every whim.

I'm from Long Island and I will brave the heavy traffic and taxi's just for DOV's expertise!!

I went to Dov about a week before Christmas with a hair disaster (I had had to shave my hair off and was wearing a wig). Dov was extremely compassionate, and made me feel beautiful despite the mess I had created for myself. He transformed the wig I was wearing into one of the most beautiful cuts I have ever seen. NO ONE can tell it's a wig, and I get complimented on the hair all the time. Dov is amazing. His staff is super friendly as well. I am so happy to have found them!!!

Dov has been working on my hair since I was born. He also does my mom's and my grandmother's hair and has been doing so for 20 years, and none of us has ever recieved a bad cut. First let me say that we all have totally different hair types: I have unruly, frizzy, thick, curly long hair, my mom has short wavy/straight hair and my grandmother has super short thinning hair. And to be perfectly honest - we would never consider going anywhere else, his color is superb, his cuts are ingenius and styles your hair so you leave feeling like a movie star. Trust me my hair is thick enough that I don't need hair pieces or wigs, in fact, I would love it if I had less hair. It speaks to Dov's talent that he is able to deal perfectly with every type of hair I could imagine: thinning hair, curly hair, straight hair you name it!

I moved away for college and won't let anyone else touch my hair. I hear so many horror stories about bad cuts and dye jobs. He cuts my hair in such a way that it works with my face, style, age etc. I just recently started dying my hair darker, I thought I wanted to go jet shoe polish black but Dov knew better, suggested something a little less drastic and made my hair a beautiful chocolate brown and everywhere I go people comment on what beautiful hair I have. Also, my hair is IMPOSSIBLE to straighten/blowdry and while away at college I've gone to plenty of places just to get a simple blowout (not a cut or a color) and none compare to the magic Dov does on my hair. This man knows what he is doing and I have recommended countless friends to go see him. If you need a wig or just a flawless cut/color/blow out, go see Dov.

and one last thing - maybe it is just because I've known him my whole life but I could be in the most horrible of moods and would leave feeling great about myself. He is so sweet and caring and just wants to make you feel absolutely beautiful - and he always does.

I had been toying with the idea of a hairpiece for some time due to a toxic combination of hair which frizzes in high humidity and hair loss due to radiation after a breast mastectomy. After trying several "online" pieces which were disasters, I decided to bite the bullet, swallow my inhibitions and try a real person. I went to Dov. But dismiss any notions now of him being an ordinary person; he is not. He is incredibly talented and a true master of his craft. Add to that his kindness and patience -- I am a bit of a nut about my hair -- and you have someone and something that is literally off the charts. When I went home last night wearing my new wig, my husband said I looked beautiful, yet exactly like me on my very best hair day. The acid test was today at work: I work with some very critical, high-maintenance women, and not one noticed anything different. The one comment I did receive was: "fabulous blow-out today"! Ladies, if there is one investment to make during your lifetime which will not erode in value, it is a visit to Dov Salon. I agree whole-heartedly with the reviewer who stated five stars are not enough. The whole experience is "heads" above the crowd. No kidding. You owe it to yourself.

I have many wigs but is not quite very happy and is always searching for that better and more natural looking wig. I think I found it in Dov's salon. Dov is a master in his field. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and of course the first thing I thought about was losing my hair. What else would a girl think about after that kind of news? :) When it was time for chemo, I met with Dov and he totally put me at ease and made me feel good about myself. He took the time to talk to me about how I was feeling and made me feel confident that I would look great in my new wig. When it was time to lose my hair, Dov was awesome. He cut and shaved my hair so fast and with compassion?I had my new wig on in 15 minutes and looked fabulous. I walked out with a huge smile after being so stressed about losing my hair. Seriously, you could never tell that I?m wearing a wig, I now get a ton of compliments on my "hair" and it is also very comfortable (I forget that I?m wearing it). I also saw lots of other people getting their hair cut and/or highlighted and they also looked great. I will be going back to Dov for my first haircut after chemo in a few months!

You will be hard-pressed to meet a kinder, more generous or caring gentleman than Dov. When we first met at his salon, he informed me that he was determined to make me happy. When it comes to my hair, that is a truly tall order to fill! Nevertheless, a few days later, I walked out with a beautiful wig that has given me immeasureable pleasure. As a cancer patient, my greatest fear was that I would look like "Cancer Girl". Dov has enabled me to live my life without anyone noticing that I am wearing a wig.

There's a reason for the expression "bad hair day." We girls know when our hair looks bad, nothing feels right. But having discovered Dov, I can say goodbye to those days forever. For years I've been self-consciousness due to thinning hair. I went to Dov Salon for a consultation and he showed me sample hairpieces--not full wigs--assuring me my life would change as a result of wearing one. No words can express how right he was! My piece is fabulous and absolutely nobody can detect it's not my own hair. The color, texture and cut make me feel beautiful and the confidence I exude when wearing it is...priceless! I have to tell everyone that if you need a wig - call Dov's now! Having been through radiation, and chemotherapy, my hair was seriously falling out - not a good thing to have to deal with, on top of all the changes in my life. I made an appointment with Dov, who was able to see me right away. He was so warm, and confident - I put my trust in him immediately. His staff was great too. And in the next few hours he gave me a gorgeous wig - really! All of a sudden I started smiling non stop - it was really amazing. I've gotten only rave reviews about my new style - and have been told I look 20 years younger. I can't wait to see Dov again!

I found Dov's salon through Citysearch, and it is one of the best things I have ever experienced. My hair has been thinning through the top and crown area for a long time. Dov was able to transform my look to gorgeous, shiny, healthy hair. It is not a wig, but a hairpiece that is comfortable and believable. His kindness and the consideration of his staff made it even better. My only regret is that I did not do this sooner.So now, I shower, get dressed,attach my hairpiece and feel like a kid again. It has made such a difference in my life. I have another appointment with Dov and am so anxious to let him know how he has helped me gain back a special part of my being. I went to Dov because of the wonderful reviews. I have lost most of my hair because of alopecia areata. Dov recommended a hair piece that worked with my hair. The cut and style of the hairpiece was different from any style I ever had before, but it works for me. He was patient and made suggestions for styling while I familiarized myself with my new hair. When I returned home my husband and four-year-old daughter told me I looked great. My mother-in-law could not believe it wasn't my real hair. I feel much more confident and inspired to update my entire look.

I don't mean to brag but Dov made this sixty your old grandma look like a model. Dov created a wig especially for me, the cut ,the color and the texture was perfect. My hair had been thinning for many years and through his God given artistry he uplifted my soul. This hair piece looks so real that my friends and co-workers could not believe their eyes. Dov gives you his undivided attention and is all his web site says . He creates miricles. I live in Connecticut and will gladly make the trip to the city for upkeep and eventually another wig. I recently had breast cancer and dealt with the hair loss that was a side effect of my chemotherapy. I found Dov through a website search. I was impressed with all the positive feedback, and now I understand for myself. Dov is a one in a million person -- very talented, compassionate and funny -- and unbelievable patient with me when I was at my nuttiest. I had no experience with wigs, and I learned working with wigs requires special skill. Dov has the gift. Listen to what he tells you -- don't second guess him. I am not one to write reviews online, but I have to add my two cents here. Dov is truly, truly a master of what he does. I have thinning hair on the crown of my head, and went to Dov after reading all of the testimonies here and seeing his website to have something made. Really, he is as amazing as everyone here says he is. I was intimidated at the thought of going to a swanky salon but Dov is a warm, caring, sincere person and made me feel completely comfortable. The piece he created for me literally is indistinguishable from my real hair - the texture, color and curl is literally an exact match! All of my friends just think I "lost weight" or got my "hair done". I went into an audition with it and someone thought I was about 10 years younger than my real age. I wear it everyday now. It is not a wig, it is just a piece that literally clips into the hair that I have. Once it is on I forget that I am even wearing it!! Not only is Dov's work AMAZING (seriously, folks) but at the time I was at the salon, I saw the cut and coloring jobs he had done for other clients, and they walked out of the salon looking gorgeous. He was very attentive to everyone and absolutely meticulous in his care and his work. I will go to him for other pieces in the future and also for my regular haircuts from now on!

When I was diagnosed with cancer and realized I would lose my hair during chemotherapy ... I could not imagine going out bald. Dov came highly recommended and sure enough he delivered and then some. My wig looks exactly like my hair, so much so that I ran into someone I know well and they had no idea I was wearing a wig. Dov is an incredibly compassionate man, which during an emotional time such as this is priceless.

The last thing a cancer patient needs is a negative self-image. My hair is an important part of that self-image and when chemo made it fall out, so did my morale.

"Dov Salon" was recommended to me by my oncologist and I'm not sorry that I followed her advice. From the moment I walked into the shop I was pampered and treated with sensitivity and respect. Dov certainly understands what's going on and he is also wonderful at what he does. In minutes he picked out a wig that suited me very well. It was the same color and texture as my own hair. I came back about a week later after he had made some special adjustments and I left as a very satisfied customer. I would not hesitate to recommend "Dov Salon" to anyone be they on chemo or not.

I spent a lot of time researching wigs online, and I was so impressed by Dov's rave reviews that I made an appointment for a consultation. And I found that all the reviews were absolutely true. Dov is a warm, kind person, and makes you feel comfortable right away. He's very straightforward, too, so you feel confident that he's giving you an honest opinion of what looks good on you. And no pressure to decide--he let me wander around with the sample hairpiece on for as long as I needed to make up my mind. He persuaded me to try a slightly darker color than usual, and he was right. No one, including my family, guessed that it was a hairpiece. Everyone just asked if I had gotten a new haircut. (One person asked if I had lost weight on a new diet!) The best of all was when I went to my old salon to have my roots done and I walked in wearing the hairpiece. All the stylists said Hi, and told me how good I looked, but when I sat down and took off the hairpiece, their jaws dropped. It just looked so natural that they hadn't guessed. At the beginning of the process, when I was trying to make up my mind about whether I would be comfortable in a wig, Dov said, "Don't worry, you'll love this so much, you'll be back for another one." I thought he was crazy, but now I can see that there will definitely be another Dov wig in my future.

I flew to New York for an appointment with Dov. His warm personality and phenomenal talent made it a delightful experience for a cancer patient. The transition from my own hair to the wig was seemless. It looked so real! Ever since I started wearing the wig, I get daily compliments. What a miracle worker - how Dov can transform a dreadful experience to a wonderful one.

I went to Dov Salon today because my hair was thinning and I was concerned I may need a hairpiece or some kind of topper., but I also had an appointment for color and a hair cut. First, let me say, Dov, is just a lovely, kind, man, he and his staff made me feel comfortable immediately. The salon itself is wonderfully decorated and a very relaxing space in itself. After looking at my hair Dov, told me I didn't need a hairpiece and he could do something with my hair to enhance the color and hide my thinning. So, I let him get to work! He lightened my eyebrows a bit, changed my color slightly and gave me an entire new look! I LOVED it, my hair hasn't looked this full and beautiful since I was a teenager! I highly recommend Dov Salon, he is a true artist and a wonderful soul!

I lost my hair from chemotherapy, and am thrilled to share that the custom-made wig that I got at Dov Salon is nicer than my natural hair ever was, is, or will be! The hair is silky smooth, beautifully cut and perfectly colored. I have received many compliments on my "new hairdo" and have recommended Dov Salon several times.

Dov is an artist with compassion, confidence and soul. He immediately assauged my wig phobias and created a wig that is so beautifully styled and precisely colored I wish it was my own natural hair. I was so comfortable in his care and knew that his creation would help me feel like I was still me as I battle cancer and fight to keep my appearance as normal as possible. I'm no longer afraid of what will happen and know that I have the best possible solution to still look like me when I see my reflection in the mirror.

I am losing my hair from chemotherapy treatments and read about what great and natural looking wigs that Dov made and decided to go to see him. What I found there was a wonderful, caring compassionate person. He understood how as a woman, losing your hair can be such a painful process. After he put the wig on me I could not believe how incredible it looked and felt. People told me it was the best haircut I ever got, and on the plus side, it will never grow out. Dov is truly a great artist besides being such a kind person. I had tried synthetic wigs and I just couldn't wear them because of how unnatural they looked and how uncomfortable they felt. It is such a nice change to have people looking at me because my hair looks good and not because they feel sorry for what I am going through.

I wear a hair piece made by Dov and couldn't be happier. (Well, I guess I'd be happier if I didn't need to wear one at all!) When I first heard about him, he was recommended as one of the city's best colorists, not as a wig maker. Then I read an article about him in the NY Times that talked about his hair pieces. "Not your grandmother's look" I think it said. I remember being so nervous about making an appointment because I was intimidated by all I'd read and heard about him working with celebrities and models and I thought I would feel out of place. That seems so silly now that I know him. He's truly a genius with hair -- "bio" or wig -- and one of the nicest, "soulful," almost spiritual people I've ever known. He's changed my life, both with his generosity of spirit and genuine talent for working with hair. I highly recommend him!

I suffer from diffuse alopecia and was had lost all hope of ever looking ?normal.? Most wigs I had seen before looked fake and ?wiggy? to me. One day, while browsing an alopecia forum, I saw I could go for a free consultation at Dov Salon. I skeptically decided to go and check out Dov?s hairpieces. Well, I couldn?t be happier that I did.

Immediately, Dov knew exactly what would work on me. The piece was completely natural looking: perfect color, length, texture. Before, I didn?t think I would ever be able to look natural, but that has all changed. I can honestly say that my new look has already changed my life for the better. Plus, it?s light, comfortable, and actually wearable all day. People have commented lately that my hair looks great and different, but they have no idea that it?s not really my hair! What more could one want from a wig! I?m sure I will be back soon to purchase another piece. I can?t imagine finding anything better.

The salon itself was elegant and tranquil. Dov and his staff were kind and sensitive which is important when you?re feeling vulnerable about a hairloss problem. I would recommend Dov Salon to anyone looking to improve their look and feel comfortable in the process. Five stars!

it was the wig. Dov is very kind and talented!

I had a great experience at DovSalon. Dov was easy to work with and wanted me to look good and feel good about my hair ! He was patient with me and very senstive to what i needed. I would definitley go back to Dov Salo for my next wig!!

If your looking for an amazing looking hair piece....look no further. I have purchased wigs from all of NYC and nothing compares/even comes close to the quality of Dov's wigs. The way he highlights and styles them...they look and feel absolutely real. I walk out of his salon feeling beautiful everytime.THANK YOU DOV.

I went to Dov with special needs. I was in a very bad accident while vacationing in Ocean City Md.I had a head scar and lost hair at the back of my head.Dov looked at the hair loss and told me he could make it look natural and know one could or would know.He made a wig for me that clips to my own hair. It is like my own.hair.I am truly greatful for his skill .He can never know just how much his talent for hair has changed my life. Thank You Dov and will see you soon Terry
