The Van Andel Museum is worth checking out. For people who live in Grand Rapids, you can visit the museum for free on Mondays. You can't beat free!! The museum has a beautiful carousel that people can ride for a nominal fee. The museum offers some of the most gorgeous views of downtown Grand Rapids. It's right across the street from the Gerald R Ford Museum. Since you have to pay to park at both museums, I suggest parking at the Ford Museum and visiting the Van Andel afterwards. They have special exhibits but typically only one or two a year. You can rent out parts of the museum for corporate parties or weddings.

We love going to the Van Andel Museum. They have so many fun things to do and offer children a rare look at what life was like "way back when." They have a real working ancient printing press and a great wardrobe of old clothes. A doll room with lots of old dolls, but...the most exquisite of all is the grand carousel overlooking the Grand River. Hope aboard for a one of a kind experience as you ride a horse whose hair was painstakingly created from real horsehair. The only downside to the museum is the downtown parking.

This is a nice place to go but keep an eye out for Special attractions. Very educational and prices are reasonable. I don't know that i'd bring little kids there, ours were mostly interested in the carousel

This museum is one of the newest and best in west michigan. It has so many displays of all different things. You can even have a wedding reception there, very nice views. Best of all you can ride a carousel and look at the grand river.

This is the musuem that I grew up going to. The one where all the public schools had their yearly field trip. The carousel especially inside the building is noteworthy. All of the horses were handcarved so I hear. It's simply beautiful. If you have any children; definitely let them ride this (although I do believe it costs $1 fee). I can remember oohing & ahhing over it when I was younger.
