This has to be the absolute WORST bank ever. First, the "free" business checking has it's costs. Even though "Check 21" was supposed to go into effect last October 2005 to speed the clearing of checks, TCF takes 5 business-days, effectively one full week, to get the money into your account. "Free" means that you in effect float this bank a loan for 1 week. As a small business I know that I simply can't do this.

Another thing is fees that they are constantly hitting you up with. If you accidently go over balance with your credit card the bank will still approve an over limit transaction but charge you $33 EVEN if you put the money back the same day. To me, if it's over limit they shold simply decline the transaction. I brought this up to them and was told "we all have to make money some way."

Most of all, the people there are all highly un-professional. Rules vary from manager to manager and location to location. One manager told me that I could not withdraw funds from my own account even though I am the president of the company. He said that I have to write a check to myself. I told him that I have never had this problem before and that I have always been able to do so at other locations. He said that not only can I not do it but if other locations were doing it he would call and see who the managers were to make certain that I will never be able to withdraw funds from MY OWN account again. Nice guy!

To top this all off now, I am told that all commercial customers can no longer cash checks for their customers. I you have a store or any other business and want to cash checks as a service to your customers, TCF is not for you.

All in all, managing my accounts with TCF is a full -time job. If you are thinking about opening up a small business account with TCF my advice is to look elsewhere, as I am currently doing.

PROS: Extended hours and weekends
CONS: Extrememly unprofessional and not business friendly
