We went to Maiz tonite for dinner and we're very disapointed with the food and service. First of all, we ordered the Mole enchiladas, the house speciality and one of the reasons we went there for. Well, the waitress informed us 20 minutes after ordering it that the mole woudnt be done for another hour and would we like another sauce!! The entree's we're small and the service was slow and there was only one other table of diners there!! The margaritas were good though, but didnt make up for the rest of the experience,.

Almost everything served here is made of or with corn. The goat cheese sopes are excellent. Everything is made fresh and the food is served tapas style. Small servings which you can mix & match and/or exchange with your guests. This location is in the middle of the block in nowhere. Drive slowly upon reaching the address range so you don't pass it up. Parking has never been a problem. I don't believe there are any ATM's within walking distance so remember CASH only!!!!

Went there on a Saturday with some friends and had a great meal. The food was definitely cheap but you do get what you pay for. I had the tacos and had to order a side of beans. That's ok b/c it still cost me less than $6 total. You're definitely not paying for presentation but that's not necessary anyways. The margaritas were strong and really smooth. Service was very attentive but not overbearing. The salsas had a great kick that gets you in the end. I can definitely see myself making this a place I will visit frequently. Overall, this was a very cheap night that left everyone satisfied. The only negative is that they're cash only.

We went for the food and wish we had had a margarita instead. I agree with the other reviewer. It tasted okay but for the money I think you should get more food. We had the flautas and all I can say is "where's the chicken?!" And that's all you get no rice, no beans. My kids wanted soup, and while it was good...it was overpriced. One of my sons wanted an elote ($4.75), why bother other than I didn't want a meldown. You get better on the street for a buck 50. There is comparable Mexican elswhere and you get your monies worth. I appreciated the kids menu even though my kids didn't want it.

Where do i begin, there was a stale water stench hinting to plumbing problems, the soda pop was flat, the food was bland, and the portions were small, and blah in apperance. The prices are cheap but in this case you definitely get what you pay for.Another added inconvenience, they dont accept credit cards. We went on a tuesday evening and the place was somewhat crowded(maybe they read the same review as we did), but dont be fooled.

All of the food is to die for....it's honestly better than frontera, adobo, las pinatas! Definitely worth the extra cab $ b/c you will make it up with all the drink $ you save by going here. The drinks are delicious and double the size of what you get elsewhere. The owner did a fantastic job, I just hope you can start branching off more locations -- I would be here every day!!!

the food is still good, i guess i just miss their low prices from back in day when they were on Roosevelt in Cicero.

I'm glad to see Maiz back open. It's better than I remember it being from its prior days on Division. Everything was beautifully prepared and very tatsty. The fresh margaritas were also delightful. We had five dishes and six margaritas which ran us about $90 including tip. Dishes are designed to be shared and run about $5-$7 each. This is a convenient spot to unwind after work away from mass congestion.
