Inventive maki in an unpretentious spot

Indie Cafe joins the growing number of reasonably-priced but gastronomically-exciting restaurants in the Edgewater area. The menu is divided in two--one side is Thai and the other Japanese. Everything on the menus is worth trying, but the unique maki really stand out. The flavor combinations of rolls like "Metallica", "Popeye" and "Las Vegas" are matched with a keen eye for presentation.
PROS: value, sushi, food presentation
CONS: BYOB, restaurant is on the small side

Indie Cafe is one of the newest restaurants in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. It is a wonderful welcome addition! Others have realized its greatness too. Chicago Magazine voted it one of the 20 best new restaurants of the year!
They offer both a Thai menu and a Japanese menu; just flip it over! Both menus are large and offer huge variety, including many vegetarian items.
This restaurtant is the best when you're indecisive! It is BYO, with no extra charge. There aren't that many tables, so there can be a wait on the weekend -- so go during the week!
What really sets this restaurant apart is its fresh approach and beautiful plating and display. You don't ever feel like you should really be paying their low prices for the fabulous food and fun atmosphere.
