My wife and I took dinner with an out of town guest and his pad thai had a really bad taste/odor and upon investigation involving both of the owners it turned out they had used an unclean pan. Instead of saying sorry the owner came by

My husband and I eat here frequently and we love it. Their food is always fresh and their staff is very friendly. They just added another room so It's not as crowded as is used to be which is nice. Street parking is usually pretty easy. We LOVE thai food and this is 1of our 2 top places!

I've been in the restraunt, and the food is great. From the outside one doesn't expect the classy sushi chic design. The food is great! I just ordered them in this evening, and the wait time for delivery seems a little long, but well worth the wait.

Pros: great food, great ambiance

Indie Cafe joins the growing number of reasonably-priced but gastronomically-exciting restaurants in the Edgewater area. The menu is divided in two--one side is Thai and the other Japanese. Everything on the menus is worth trying, but the unique maki really stand out. The flavor combinations of rolls like "Metallica", "Popeye" and "Las Vegas" are matched with a keen eye for presentation.

PROS: value, sushi, food presentation
CONS: BYOB, restaurant is on the small side

Indie Cafe is one of the newest restaurants in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. It is a wonderful welcome addition! Others have realized its greatness too. Chicago Magazine voted it one of the 20 best new restaurants of the year!

They offer both a Thai menu and a Japanese menu; just flip it over! Both menus are large and offer huge variety, including many vegetarian items.

This restaurtant is the best when you're indecisive! It is BYO, with no extra charge. There aren't that many tables, so there can be a wait on the weekend -- so go during the week!

What really sets this restaurant apart is its fresh approach and beautiful plating and display. You don't ever feel like you should really be paying their low prices for the fabulous food and fun atmosphere.

This is the best Thai restaurant for creativity in flavor and presentation. Everything is served beautifully and tastes great. I love being able to get a sushi appetizer and a curry entree. Understandably, the service was very shaky when they first opened; now they have gotten things under control and the place runs smoothly. For anyone turned off by the service in those first few weeks, they are definitely worth another shot. The sushi and Thai dishes are outstanding. I recommend going on non-peak hours, because it does get very crowded, and the tables are very close together.

Pros: great food, two great cuisines

Cons: can be very crowded, annoying muzak

Normally we are hesitant when a restaurant claims to be proficient at more than one type of cuisine. But Edgewater's Indie cafe proves us wrong, serving both notable Japanese and Thai dishes. This casual neighborhood spot with see-through,…
