I recently went to the Oklahoma City Zoo, we drove about four hours through rain. This made us a bit nervous of course. When we got there the sun had come out and everything looked great. We went to the admission office and purchased our tickets and I was ever so excited to go in and see all the animals they boasted. After the first few exhibits with no animals in them I began to gert a bit dissappointed. Then as we went on there were still yet hardly any animals out, and no zoo staff to be found. Apparently the storm that had moved through had been a rough one and they had taken most of the animals inside. I do not blame them for doing so, only that the ticket office should have made us aware of this. There should have been a statement such as " We just experienced a large storm and had to take the anumals indoors, it may be awhile before they are brought back out." Not only that but the signs as to where the animals were, were unclear. As the trams were not running when we arrived we had to walk the entire park, and then when searching for my one highlight of the day I had to walk nearly the entire park again looking for the gorillas, all the while they were stashed in the back of the building. It was hot and on top of everything else, there was no concessions throughout the park that were open. Only the restaurant at the front gate. It was my first and last visit to the Oklahoma City Zoo. Also, I expected to see more exhibits, there were alot of areas where you walked and walked and there was not only vacant exhibits, but places where you walked for quite awhile and there was no exhibit spaces at all, only foilage.
