Made our first visit to Cafe Maya just recently and were not very impressed. We had heard a lot of good things about this place from friends and were anxious to try it. Saturday night might not have been the best choice since it was very busy and we had to wait over an hour for a table but from all we had heard it would be worth the wait. The hostesses were both very friendly and try to be accommodating to everyone who were waiting long by offering us chips and salsa to hold us over. They even told us that we would be offered a free drink once we had been seated which, when we were finally seated by the owner we were informed that she was only a hostess and had no authority to do so. We probably should have gotten up then and gone somewhere else, but we were out for our anniversary. Our waiter was friendly and we did not wait long at all for our order to be taken. Our food was delivered promptly. I ordered a special called the Enchilada de Mole Poblano. The flavor was good but the presentation was not. Not only did it come to the table not hot, it was just barely warm. Then to top it all off, the chicken inside was all dried out. My wife got the Fajita Maya. It did come to the table hot, but the steak was as tough and chewy and the shrimp were way over cooked. All in all, there was nothing about the food that set it apart from any other Mexican restaurant we have tried before and see no reason to give it a second chance.

I am a St. Louis area musician. I will never book another gig at the maya cafe. Nor will I ever patronize that business. The owner is unscrupulous and arrogant. My trio played an entire gig and went completely unpaid at the end of the evening! Apparently he didn't like the break that we took so that we could scarf down his mediocre food. Never mind that there were a bunch of people at his restaurant specifically because we were playing!

Best Mexican food I have had outside of NYC. Great drinks and excellent service. Only complaint is that it is very crowded on weekends, so you have to get there early or you will wait a while. Otherwise, no complaints!

Too bad the food wasn't as good as the Coronas! The sauces were watery and when the food finally arrived it appeared to have been microwaved. I hope management gets a chance to rectify this.
The margaritas which were over $7 tasted like they came from a mix.

Excellent Food & Service. We went with a group of 5, service was on top of their game & food was perfect! The ONLY negative thing I can say was the dessert was a a little disappointing. I ordered the Tres Leche Cake & it was a bit dry.Other than that loved the experience there!

I love this restaurant! There is two of them now one in Fishkill and the original is in Cold Spring. The place in Fishkill is much bigger and better for sit down with the family. Cold Spring only has about 4 or 5 tables so its great for the take out or when you want some peace and quite. The homemade tortillas and salsa you get as soon as you sit down are awesome the tortilla's are still warm. The food is the best Mexican I have ever had. The Guacamole is to die for. even if you are not a fan of Mexican food YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!

Have been a customer since it was a hole in the wall. Not your average Mexican joint. Try the MX city style tacos with beef. MMMMMMM
