Slander is illegal. I am responding to the review from Tamara K. Please remember as you read these reviews that there are two sides to every story. Even a dentist has the right to protect her future children and nitrous oxide is not just routinely given for every procedure without asking for it. Being put in the middle of an adult patient and his mother is not a comfortable place to be.

My son's first appointment was for a simple cleaning prior to have braces put on(thank god not there). The agreed upon fee was 95.00. This turned into 135.00 because his teeth needed to be "debrided" prior to cleaning. This would not have been a problem if I had been INFORMED PRIOR to it being done. That was problem #1. Problem #2 We returned one week later to have 4, FOUR teeth extracted. Of course the FIRST thing I was presented with was the bill (got to get the important stuff out of the way) which was correct (from what I have read here that must of been a fluke). I told the receptionist he would need Nitrous gas and she said that might be a problem because Dr. Cornell was trying to get pregnant and didn't want to be around the gas! Well you know MAYBE there should be a sign stating that Dr. Cornell doesn't use the gas. Why would you schedule a patient for FOUR extractions with a dentist that cannot fully perform her job duties? Why would you not inform the patient PRIOR(there's that word again)? We go back and Dr. Cornell tells us she is having trouble getting pregnant and she doesn't need to be around the gas and it takes a long time to set up blah, blah, blah. I told her we should of known that before and she says it's nobody's business ( guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree-her father is Dr. Jones)! On the contrary it is our business when you can't do your job 100% My son decided to go ahead since this appointment had to be accomplished prior to getting his getting braces. I intend to inform the Board and the BBB of the poor service and to be honest negligent (leaving a patient anxious and in pain because you can't perform 100%) behavior. I was told prior to going there by an employee next door to this scam facility that they did not like them because they "try to use up your insurance as fast as they can" and could kick myself for not listening. Which leads to problem #3 My son was told he had 3 cavities at the first visit so after reading all the previous posts I intend to find out if this is true and they better hope it is. When you leave a paralyzed, amputee in unnecessary pain and anxiety you really need to stop and take a good hard look in the mirror. My son has been sick for 17 years and has had numerous procedures and we have never been treated as poorly and callously as we were at BACK TO BASICS DENTAL ON HIGHWAY 48.

have received a letter from Back to Basics, dated August 26, 2010, stating that I owe $40.00 for a missed appointment. I did not cancel this appointment, the customer service rep did. I had called much earlier and tried to cancel, but the previous rep. had threatened me with a fee of $80.00 if I didn't make at least one appointment. I had explained to her that I could not afford the appointment. I also had a terribly upset stomach but I did not feel that I should justify myself to her, since she had already caused me distress previously by deleting an appointment I had been scheduled for, a couple of weeks before. Two weeks before, I expected to have an appointment for myself and one for my son. I was told, at the office, that there was only my son's scheduled. These folks only laughed it off and did not consider the number of clients that I had to reschedule because I had expected to have a procedure that would leave my mouth numbed and thus unable to talk. These folks were completely unconcerned of the hardship they put me through. They did not offer to credit my account for the missed appointment, yet they are quick to charge me for an appointment that they cancelled. What happened is that I felt pressured to agree to one appointment, but as I reflected on the situation, I realized how unethical their treatment towards me had been. I did not feel well but dressed anyway and called to let them know that I was on my way. The rep who answered the phone decided that I would not make it on time. I told her what had happened and how upset I felt. I also said that I would make it to the appointment and if I cried or anything went wrong, it would be their responsibility, that I could not afford the penalty. She decided that they would cancel the appointment. I asked her several times: "Will I have to pay the $80.00? She only stated that they would cancel the appointment. I see how deceitful she actually was - she made it sound like it would be ok, but in reality, turned right around and charged me $40.00. She sent the letter the very same day, fully aware of what she had done. These folks have also made me feel as if I was unworthy of care because I have the military vets insurance, which according to the higenist, is the one that "pays the least" almost infering that I was a "charity case" I am extremely upset with these folks; their higenist is harsh; the customer service reps have proven to be disorganized and untrustworthy. I will pay the $40.00, however, I will definitely look for a different dental care provider. After reading these other reviews, I know better than to try to talk to Dr. Jones. I don't care for him or anymore of their reps to try to confuse me again.

I had a great experience at Back to Basics Dental Center. I looked them up under the Better Business Bureau website and found they had an A+ rating and were in good standing. I felt very at ease from the moment I walked in the door. The receptionsits were so sweet and welcoming. They gave me all the paperwork (I had to fill out a lot of paperwork, but you have to do that now no matter where you go) and answered all the questions I had about it. The dental assistants have always been very kind and reassuring. I told them about my dental phobias and everytime I go there they make me feel very at ease and relaxed. It is also very clean and I have been in some very dirty dental offices before.

The dentist, Dr. Jones, is very professional and always explains each procedure before it is done in detail so that I know what to expect. He is also very funny and that helps to make it a little easier to get through the treatment.

I would reccomend this dental office and am so glad I did my own research and chose this as my dental office. I have never had any insurance or billing problems with them like some of these other reviews have stated. I have had to pay for things that were submitted to my insurance but were rejected and I didn't like to have to pay but its not the dental offices fault.

I am so grateful for the experiences I have had at Back to Basics Dental Center.

Dr. Lee is absolutely the greatest dentist out there anywhere. I had other medical issues and she showed me compassion and understanding. She called me after hours several times just to make sure that I was o.k after having dental work done. I would recommend this dentist to anyone.

Absolutely no stars whatsoever!! Not only were they rude and curt, but they said I had 8 cavities. After 2 second opinions elsewhere, it was confirmed that I had NO cavities at all! They obviously are trying to run a scam. I would not recommend this dentist to ANYONE!!

I'm not sure why there are such harsh reviews of B2B. My visits there have been fantastic. I think that I would know if a dentist was bad, I've had a couple of the worst ones out there! One of my previous dentists billed me for a root canal, and only gave me a filling and also told me when I complained about the bite block gagging me that I should "suck it up and wear my big girl panties next time"! Another gave me fillings that FELL OUT! Yeah, I've had some losers.
I can't speak for the other dentists in the practice but I had Dr. Lee. She was really nice, explained everything to me in detail, was incredible gentle and patient with me (due to previous dental experiences I'm a little frightened of the dentist), and even got me in when I had an unexpected reaction to the Hemodent that they use.
The only thing that might blemish the experience is the older dental hygentist at the practice. I have a tongue piercing and she said that it makes girls look like hookers. Unfortunately, I didn't go there for her personal opinion, just to have my teeth cleaned. I handled the situation at that moment, and haven't had a problem since!
Definately 5 Stars!!!!

I am a patient of Dr. Sessions. She is a very caring, compassionate, and professional dentist. The only problem I have is the billing office and the rotation of staff members. #1 Dr. Sessions needs to have a consistent assistant in order to provide the best patient care possible. The assistants need to act like professionals and learn more about the dentists preferences. It is quite an inconvenience for a heath care practitioner to have someone not as familiar and knowledgeable. This to me is a very big disability for any heath care practitioner. #2 The other problem is with the billing office. They billed me and my insurance for the same treatment on the same tooth. Of course, my insurance questioned that. They have yet to fix it and send me the stuff for my wage works. Dr Sessions is a highly skilled dentist who needs to find some better help in the office. These actions cause customers to go else where. Get your own practice Dr. Sessions. You are awesome.

Just like movies I never listen to someones opinion until I have done it or seen it myself. I have been to Back To Basics at the New Providence office several times already. The first time I had dental insurance and it was great. My job got rid of it and they helped me find something that I can us to replace it. They were very knowledgable about different ins plans and discount plans they offered people. I signed up for the discount plan and its been great. I have saved alot of money thanks to them. AS A REMINDER we should have knowledge of our own dental ins and I did. Its always an estimate my ins sometimes did not pay everything and I understood. They even told be me that when I was there that is was only an estimate and that they cant guarntee payment from ins. I did not question it because I had researched my ins my self so you should have done it too before going anywhere. I love coming here and I would recommend anyone and everyone to try it out. Never listen to what other people say theres always a reason for the way you are treated. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Try it for yourself and you will enjoy every moment.

You need to read some of the older reviews listed for his other office. That is pretty much accurate for this office as well. The change in office unfortunately has no affect on their business sense or the doctor's "bed Like manner" . They bill incorrectly by scamming the customer & insurance for procedures not needed or not done and other many other billing errors. They don't work to fix problems and the doctor is a problem as he acts like an out of control child. I don't know how anyone could ever give this place or the other office a 5 star rating unless it is bogus and left by the DDS, Doctor Jones, his staff or the DDS's mother! I wouldn't even give him a 5 star if I was his mother! He is a loser and a total idiot that needs to be disbanned from dentistry. Honestly, he acts like he is out of control on something because his behavior is so unpredictable and some simple incident like someone questioning about the procedures needed, can provoke his true character which is not far from the surface at anytime. His staff is like a bunch of bitchy, stuck up groupies and they leave you feeling uncomfortable from the time you enter the office. You can't get their attention to help you with something but they will sit there behind the glass talking and laughing and ignoring you. When you get their attention then they will be ice cold and act like you are bothering them. It's a shame that a place like this can be in business especially since it is a military town and our military members and family members certainly deserve to be treated with some dignity and respect. You can give it at this office but you won't get it. Don't go to either office.

I haven't never met a more incompetent office staff. They state that they are a PPO, Preferred Participating Provider and then they bill your insurance company. The EOB comes back specifying what they "write off" or otherwise known as the negotiated rate for services and they insist still that you pay that portion including the rest. I brought in the EOB thinking that it was just an honest mistake and once I showed them the correct information which breaks it all down then they would certainly understand that they are over-billing me and that they can't do that. I had already covered my deductible and that wasn't in dispute. They wanted me to pay the full rate like they were not a PPO but then they stood there and said that they were a PPO and my health insurance listed them as that. The office is incompetent and Dr. Jones, is a maniac. He came in the office and was very unprofessional as well. The office staff stated that he did the work and he should get paid for it. Unbelievable. I had a regular doctor at the time, thank goodness as I just went there because my dentist was out of town. I told the billing person at the office of my regular dentist and brought in the paperwork and she just shook her head in disbelief as did I. I received a personal tirade from Dr. Jones about paying the remaining balance which certainly wasn't a great deal but I don't recall the exact amount. It was about 50 dollars maybe. I had never experienced anything like this in my life and I pass by their office in disbelief and relief every time I go by there. I would not suggest that anyone go there as I don't think they know what they are doing. From my experience, I don't think that the Dr. is a logical person with control over his behavior and something very small can trigger his anger. I have never been so harsh but believe me when I say, this review is probably mild consi

I highly recommend Back to Basics (New Providence location). I was seen by Dr. Sessions who is a very caring, professional and humane dentist. I had a lot of work done and every time she explained fully the process and asked me if I had any questions. Before she would start a procedure, she would stop and tell me exactly what she was going to do which relieved a lot of my anxiety. I had two teeth extracted and the experience was very good (no pain, just a little pressure). I also had other work done and she was very concerned that I would not feel any pain. I also had my teeth cleaned and they were very, very professional. I had to come two times. The first time, the numbing injection hurt a little (performed by another dentist). The second time Dr. Sessions did it and it was a lot better. I am due to come in August and I look forward to this visit. Now, I just hope I can find an orthodontist that comes close to the professionalism that Dr. Sessions exhibit with me. By the way, I also was shown the cost of the procedure before they started any work. The receptionist is a sweet young lady who always had a smile in her face and was willing to help me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I just recently went to the location out on hwy 48. The front desk staff was so sweet. I don't like going to the dentist, but the dentist made me feel very calm. I was given an orientation of the office by one of the front desk ladies. I can't remember her name but one of the ladies told me to come to this website to write about my visit. It was very informative and I've never had that done before. I didn't like the fact that a cleaning was not guaranteed, but they found a way to fit me in at my request. I think this is a great office and its not that long of a drive.

I recently had to change dentists due to insurance purposes and was reluctant to try somewhere else. I went to Back to Basics and had an excellent experience, their staff walked me through step by step of what was going on and showed me the cost of everything before we did it. I have a lot of work to be done and needed a cleaning and the hygienist there are amazing. They even took the time to take my blood pressure and give me instructions on oral care I was never shown before. I would recommend anyone to go get their dental stuff done here!

From the moment I walked into the office I felt welcome. I thought everyone there was very professional, knowledgeable , and caring. I am glad I did not let a few bad reviews change my mind. I guess you can please everyone. Take it from someone who have traveled around the world you would not regret getting dental work at this office.

I was recenlty seen at Back to Basics Dental center, the location across the river. When I was greated by the receptionist I immediatly felt welcome. I don't enjoy going to the dentist and do need some work. The dentist seemed professional and caring. I haven't been seen by a female dentist in the past. The nurse that worked with the dentist explained things in terms I could understand. They shoed me my pictures or xrays on the TV and explained why I needed certain treatment. They even squeezed me in for a cleaning. The hygienist was great.

I think Michelle O. is being payed for her review or is an employee. I was told to fix teeth that showed nothing wrong with them on the X-ray and did not hurt me. When I pointed this out, the doctor muttered something about microscopic cracks and that I might want to get it fixed later then. Some of the assistances were kind and professional, while others were hurtful {even with being numbed} and seemingly lost. My crown work was so messed up that I had to go back on numerous occasions and it's still incorrect. Now do to their negligence, I must pay again for a specialist to fix their mistake. Who can afford this?!! As for the less extreme experience, every time they put on a temporary, I was in the next day for it to be redone. I am so mad and still hurting. Too bad there is not a zero star rating!

At Back to Basics, they won't take your complaints, but they will take your money. Pay attention to the reviews for this business. They have poor customer service. If you try to dispute a charge by appealing to a higher manager, they just tell you that the manager is in a meeting; no matter when or how many times you call. When you ask to speak to your doctor or the Office Manager, they tell you that they are in a meeting, but will contact you later; again, no matter how many times you call. If you show up to the office to handle the problem in person, everyone who could handle your problem is in a meeting. They will not call you back if you have a problem with the way they conduct business.

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!! I went to the one on highway 48 with Dr. Donald Jones... They tell you the white fillings will be $31 dollars over the amount United Concordia will cover...then after paying the $31...they send a bill for $70. The staff was very unhelpful, unprofessional, and rude when I called to ask about this bill. They emphasized that the $31 was only an estimate...as if they don't deal with military families enough to know!?!? I'm still dealing with this since February! You'll regret it if you dare go!!

This is by far the worst place ever. I have no idea what that last lady was talking about. I went there five months ago and have never and will never go back!!!! What ever happened to good customer service? your just another paycheck to them. they're 100% not professional. they may know how to do miner things like put in a simple filling. but you better hope you never get your teeth pulled by them, crowns or anything else that takes more then one brain cell! these people do not admit there wrongs. so don't expect to get a refund to have your problems corrected. every military family I know has complained about them. I wouldn't be surprised if it got black listed soon. preventing military from being aloud to go there. One things for sure I now know why its the cheapest place around. don't go there or you'll end up spending a lot more because you'll have to have another dentist fix there mistakes, unless you want to sue them! Good luck to those who go anyway!!! I hope you have an extra pair of teeth!

This office is actually split into 2 different locations, making it accesible to everyone in the area. They have awesome up to date rooms with TV to watch program on your treatment, or even see your own x rays for the Dr to show you where problem areas are. The Drs are very professional and well educated. The staff makes you feel very comfortable and secure in your treatment decisions. With the latest technology that they have, I feel like they are continually striving to do what is best for the patient and I like feeling cared about. Awesome!
