TERRIBLE. Join only if you want to pay them forever. The manager is a cheat and a liar and a thief. The staff even said the only way to get the money I was owed was to go to small claims court -- but I live in another state now! They have a rating of F by the better business bureau. Do you know how blatantly, intentionally horrible you have to be to get anything less than an A from the BBB? I wish I could give them a negative star.

ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE TRUE!!!!
1. Terrible service; dirty and broken equipment often covered with sweat. Visible dust is everywhere: ceiling vents, stairs.
2. Shower curtains, showers, and hot tub are disgusting! Sauna is constantly broken and COLD!
3. Management is very unprofessional and very nasty to talk to. I could not believe how some of the employees treat their customers.
I pointed several times to the employees that sauna is not working properly. Nothing was done to fix it for many months.Probably it is still broken. I quit that gym and will never come back!
I talked to PAUL about broken sauna, equipment, and filth. He YELLED at me in response, yelled in front of his employees! Unbelievable!
I really FEEL VERY SORRY FOR that person and SORRY for people who interact with him every day!
5. If you are a member SAVE all the copies of contracts, ??frozen time? forms with the exact dates. Document everything! Take pictures of their dirty broken equipment, filthy hot tub, dirty showers and stairs with your cell phone. You might need those pictures to defend you case IN COURT!
They will try to STEAL YOUR MONEY!

If I would have known what kind of people run that place I would have never gotten the membership to begin with.

I signed up two years ago telling them the main use I wanted was bball for my kids. The worker told me which one covered that, and I signed up. Was told the next week when my kids were playing basketball that I needed to pay an additional bball fee. Never would have signed up if I had known the true fees. Fastforward two years later and my membership was running out. I called a month and a half a head of time to confirm it was ending. I called again a few days before it ended to verify. They said I had to sign a cancellation form. Then they actually laughed and said that because I did not notify them a month ahead of time that they would take out one more month of automatic withdrawal. They said I had agreed to an automatic renewal of the membership, which I never would have done as this was a trial experience for us. The manager laughed again when I told him I would stop this automatic payment at my bank.
I had heard rumors of this company's lack of integrity when it came to money/fees/payments to employees. Just learned today that all those things I heard was true.

When I was renewing my membership in 2010, the staff at the club also suggested that it would be a good idea to get a membership for my spouse. I said to them that she was not going to be able to use the club for a while, and the staff said that we could just freeze it. So went ahead and froze both my account and my wife's account. However, after having made all the monthly payments, when we finally decided that we were going to start using the account beginning in December 2011, we were told that there is no record of us freezing it. Now the club is saying that they would not allow her to use the club because we did not do our job of freezing it. The manager Tina was extremely rude and she had supposedly been instructed by the owner Paul to not entertain a request for freezing. When I noted that I am going to take this to the small claims court and also to make sure to share this with others, she told me "Knowck yourself out." In addition to the corruption of the club managemet, what is even more aggravating is the incompetence, lying and misbehavior of the management. I am posting this message with the hope that more people share their experiences more widely about this club.

I was a member to International and was very unhappy with it!
They were mostly college students who worked there and could care less that I even walked through the door. If you aren't a size 2 and a cute blonde...well good luck getting any assistance. I also have heard nothing but BAD since my membership ended. Thank god I got out of there!!! Been going to Newtone and I LOVE IT!!! Highly recommend!!!!! I am giving a star rating...but dont even think they deserve that.

I have been going to this club for over two years. I joined to get in shape and loose a little weight (now that I've entered my 50's). I usually use the weight machines upstairs and I really enjoy it. I have found the staff to be very friendly. I think if you want people to be friendly to you, you have to be friendly to them. It's not a one way street. I get a discount by being with Purdue, so I feel I get my money's worth. Recently the staff encouraged me to try some of the other classes and since I like to dance, I tried the Hip Hop class. Even though I mess up on the steps alot, I am enjoying myself and with practice, I will get it eventually. I like that the instructor will introduce a step one at a time, we practice it and then add it to what we already have. Eventually we will be able to do the whole routine. And to me it doesn't feel like working out, but more like playing (which is fun). The instructor is upbeat and very pleasant to work with. It's just like practicing a piano piece, you just have to keep working at it and no one gets it just right in the beginning. I would recommend this club and will keep going. Keeping fit is a commitment to ones self and if you can't keep a commitment to yourself, who can you keep a commitment to? It is a life-long choice.

For anyone who signs a contract, it is an automatic renewal and it's not easy to get it to stop. Make sure when you fax in your request that you ask for follow up to ensure they received it. Secondly, when there is a problem, the only person "authorized" to address any problem is the manager, "Paul". Unfortunately, Paul does not return phone calls. Period. He has his calls screened by his staff. It's as if they are forced to lie for him.

Thank good, the company that holds the contracts helped me out. "Paul" was trying to get them to pull even more money out, but that was stopped thank goodness. Maybe if the place hired a manager who actually managed, it would be a better club!
