We sat there at 5pm and were told it would be 15 minutes. They kept telling us that until it was almost 7pm! We ordered our food and it arrived 45 later. The steaks were rare, but we wouldn't dare send them back. Won't go back after

This steakhouse has cut down on their portions and left their prices high. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that used to come with at least 6 large shrimp for $11. Now at this same price, it comes with only 4 shrimp. They kept the same

I do not understand why anyone thinks this is a good steak house. Steaks are not great, sides are just so-so.

The food was good. Not great but good. Service could not have been better. Very friendly staff and our waitress and manager in training were most attentive to our table. We asked to be seated to see football, and they were so nice to

Was over charged and made to feel like a fool by weekly costumers. I was very embarrised and so was my husband. Probably will not return and have been eating here since the opening on special occasions. Not everyone can eat there on a weekly basis with this ecomomy. There are also many other places to spend money on food that are just as good.

Pros: Great food

Cons: Bartenders do not pour eaqully

I've had very poor service in each of my 3 visits in the last 18 mos Each time, the server or manager offered us a free cheesecake dessert to make up for it. On the third time, I realized that poor service (VERY slow, incorrect orders, etc) is the norm here, and everyone is getting free desserts! So, if you have plenty of time and like cheesecake, go for it! The food has been good, and the atmosphere is nice, which is why I left 3 stars.

This place has the best service and steaks I ever experienced. We've been to this place three times. The last time we went on mother's day for a dinner. The place was full, but there was no wait. The server came to us right away and asked if we want order drinks. We ordered couple drinks and salad to start. In a few minutes we placed our order for steaks. Unfortunately our order took a while to get to our table. During our wait, two managers came to us with apology for wait. Our server definitely was worried. Good for everybody we were in a good mood and not in a hurry. What was a surprise at the end when we received a $0 bill?! The restaurant took care of us (the bill was $145). We told our waiter that anyway we would be back, because they have great service and food.

I know...it's my fault. I ordered the flounder (fish of the day) and it was barely edible. I have enjoyed steaks at Stoney and the rolls, bread, yada yada yada are all good. Get a steak, enjoy the darkness, stay clear of the frozen fish.

I eat here regularly. My favorites are twin steak medalions, whiskey shrimp and crab cakes with caper sauce for appetizes. Cozy atmosphere and excellent service. Best restaurant in the area. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I don't mind driving far for a great steak but now I know I don't have to. Stoney River offers everything that you would expect out of some highend downtown restaurant but in the burbs. The service was personable, but not intrusive, and the glass of Treanna complemented my Coffee Cured Filet Oscar perfectly. My wife had the Lobster tail and it was delicious. We were too full for dessert but promised our server that we would return soon enough. I can't wait to go back. I know I'll want to try something different next time but I don't think I'll be able to pass up the Coffee Cured Filet Oscar.
Bottom line is - I paid less, drove less and had a great evening. Not sure how long they've been open but I wish I had tried it sooner. SIgned... new loyal customers

Basically, this is O'Charley's with dim light. OVERPRICED food, OVERPRICED wine list and mediocre service. If you are going to spend this kind of money then there are plenty of other good choices in this town that beat this place hands down. Chain or local. I hope this concept of high price and mediocrity doesn't become the norm in this town.

Went to the restaurant while here on business as an associate is good friends witht he manager/owner? Don't know who he is but he was pompous, rude, and ignored us even after we told him we made a special trip in because of his friend. I have never been so frustrated or angry over mistreatment in my 60 years on earth but this did me in.

Our server picked up on this behavior and he did a fantastic job of trying to cover for his boss, but even he admitted to us that he had no excuse for it, even saying he's never there anyways.

The meal itself was delicious and the legendary steak is exactly as they say. The carmelized onions are fantastic!!! To our server, you are a fine gentlemen and thank you for taking care of us. If we ate desserts your offer of a free dessert was a touch of class. Will we ever return? No. I come to Nashville at least every other month and I'll go back to Morton's where I'm well known and taken care of!!! So much for helping out a friend.

I have been here many times, and out of all the times I have been, only one time was disappointing. I will say that I think that they have the best steak in the area. I always get the Lodge Filet cooked medium. Last time I went there it was under-cooked...weor at least I though, but what ended up happening was that they mixed up mine & my husband's filets. Anyway, I expect at a place like this to just cook me a new steak and not put the same one back on the grill. When you do that it just makes the meat tougher & it just ruins the steak. They brought my steak back out & it was a lot tougher. I did not enjoy it at all, and I was very disappointed to have paid that price and not recieve a new steak...afterall, it was not my fault.

Overall though I really do enjoy this restaurant.....and I really love the ambiance & atmosphere.

Pros: atmosphere, ambiance, Lodge Filet, lamb chop appetizer, the insanely huge chocolate cake

2 glasses of wine, three ribeyes with salads, grilled shrimp dinner, one bud light and one mudslide, appetizer $200.81 (tip included)

Experience of a great restaurant - well worth it

It was great service, good food and a nice calming atmosphere. Not a place that I would go all the time, but for the special occassion, then I would def recommend.

We had a refreshingly wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door until the last drop of dessert! We took a chance on Stoney River on Valentine's Night, knowing it would probably be packed. My husband had called in advance and we were seated moments after we arrived! We have an excellent server, Angela, who wasn't pushy, but definitely attentive! We both had perfectly cooked steaks and the server?s suggested wine was a great combination of flavor. We became customers for life that evening and look forward to more reasons to head over to Stoney River Legendary Steaks!

Cons: Small Waiting area

.

We called in for the "priority seating" which they claim to seat you in 30 minutes if you call in & put your name on the list. So we were down for 8:00 which means we should have been in our seat by 8:30. We were not seated until 9:30 & there were also several other very unhappy couples who had been there longer than we had. If we had not been given a gift card for Stoney River we wouldnt have stayed. If we are paying for dinner, I refuse to wait more than a half hour for a table anywhere. I havent located food worth waiting longer for. But since we were using a gift card, we sat there and waited and waited and waited. We were seated in the "non smoking" section which happened to be a stones throw from the bar, where smoking is permitted. Like there's some invisible line that stops the smoke from entering the designated "non smoking" area. But anyway. The fireplace was lit which made for a lovely and cozy ambience. I ordered the prime rib but since we'd waited an hour and a half for a table they'd run out right before I ordered. So I was forced to quickly pick another option. I dont even recall which cut of meat I selected but it was seasoned with some kind of rosemary rub. I liked that when the server brought out our steaks she requested we cut them down the center to verify it was cooked like we wanted. Our steaks were delicious and the cesear salad was yummy. We also split a gigantic chocolate cake that came with two shots of milk (needed more milk). It was so rich neither of us could eat much at one time. We took it home and I ate on it three more times & my husband had two more deserts from it. It was very pricey on the front end but since it lasted us several days it was worth it. Our server was lovely and attentive until the end then it appeared that she also had to engage in her close up duties even though she still had patrons. We knew it was pricey going in but the food was good and we may return there for special occasions but not very often.

I had lunch here last week and i must say, the service was lovely. I've only been in Nashville since March, and i find that servers always want to be my best friend. Not the case at Stoney River. My server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeabe, but at no time did she try to sit at the table. I found this a real plus. The food was very good, and the place had a quiet sort of elegance in that it wasn't cluttered with any type of memorabilia on the walls, it wasn't trying to be trendy. Just good food in a very conservative and almost masculine environment without feeling like a cigar bar. And again, wonderful service. Definitely a very good choice for a business lunch.

Glad to see stoney river getting some props around here. Ever since it opened in Cool Springs I have been a loyal customer. I have honestly never had a one bad experience eating at the restaurant.

I'd recommend starting with the lobster bisque and then ordering the beefsteak tomatoes and mozarella salad. For the main dish you can't go wrong with the filet with the tempura lobster tail on the side. Caramalized mashed potatoes are a great choice to go with your steak. I never made it to dessert so I can't help you there.

Enjoy the poppy seed bread bites they bring out, they are awesome.

My brother and I had the Cowboy Cut Bone-In Ribeye, and my wife and mother had the Center Cut Siroin. Everything was done to perfection. I hope you save room for desert.
There may only be five items on the desert menu, but they are increadible. The Creme Brulee was a delight for the pallet, as was the Stoney River Chocolate Fudge Cake a chocolate lovers dream. Jackie and Mathew provided flawless service.
This may be a little on the pricey side, but for special occations, it is well worth the cost.

I was having a romantic dinner there with my husband and overheard a manager telling a server that the Mexicans (I am assuming this was referring to the bussers) were running late so they needed to bus tables til they got there. I was very shocked that people are so ignorant especially in a classy environment such as this restaurant. This type of racial discrimination should not be permitted and I will never go there again.

The beef is to die for. You can cut it with a fork. Excellent service to boot! It's a bit pricey, but it's worth the quality! You get what you pay for here! The choc cake to die for. A must have.

Yes, the food is good, but only if you are lucky enough to be seated. This restaurant does not take reservations. They have what they say is "call ahead seating" which is nothing but a waiting list. We put our name on the call head list, and still waited an hour. The hostess either forgot we were there or never put our name on the list. Food is good, but for the price go somewhere you can make reservations and not have to wait. Waiting an hour for expensive food is insane. Go to Ruths Chris, Flemings, Kobe, anywhere.

I had the pleasure of dinning at the river while on buisness. The usual recomendations from my hotels are predictably touristy, but not the Stoney River. It was perfect! From the comfortable environment to the knowledgeable service to the unbelievable food I was in heaven. You have got to give them a try while in Nashville.

My wife and I enjoyed Stoney River in Atlanta on many occassions while living there and were thrilled that the restaurant opened in Cool Springs after we had moved here. We were not disappointed. Wonderful portions of great tasting steaks and seafood, a salad dressing to kill for and a staff that is second to none in Nashville. Bravo!

The high menu prices was a bit of a turn off at first, but once our food started arriving, it was most definately worth it. We have been during busy and "not so busy" times and the service was excellent every time. Parking hasn't been a big issue, especially if you don't mine walking from the next parking lot. However, when it is busy, it is busy. For a change, eat at the "first come, first server" seating in front of the kitchen. It is a bit noisy, but watching the preparation is entertaining, and you get to see other items on the menu.

My Wife and I dined at Stoney River for my birthday; I was extremely impressed. The food was incredible, especially the Filet Oscar! The host staff is young, but very courteous. The service was outstanding. Our server took the time to not only deliver outstanding service, but to walk my wife and I through the wine list, including a sample tasting, for a perfect selection. SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!

Reservations required. Expensive but worth every drop of wine and bite of steak. This place rocks!! Wait staff are tops. Atmosphere perfect especially for romantics. Food is perfect...portion, temp, appealing. Dessert is a must, if you can find room! Our visit was a special occasion for just us two and we spent about $150 but we got the best service and food for our $$ and were very happy w/ the experience. If you're looking for easy parking, spacious seating, warm atmosphere, great wait staff and delicious steaks, you gotta go to Stoney River Steakhouse for sure!!

The first visit was exceptional in every regard. Great wine list, good food and exceptional service. Our 2nd visit left us feeling car-jacked. Our party of 6 was seated at a "buffer" table on stools near the fireplace. We were told it was smoking. The manager told us to put out our cigarettes, removing the ashtray and the smokes within it. After a long time we had to ask for a server. Server was great and should train the cooperate minded management about people skills. Five members in our party are in the food & beverage industry and the buzz was bad all around. I can't describe it but the manager's personality (or lack of there-in) tainted the whole environment and left us "chilly" even though it was not cold in the restaurant.

You will leave smelling like you have been to a dance club.

The salads were very good. The filet was so over salted it was dried out and left kept me up all night with dehydration. The swordfish was completely smothered with seasonings more suitable for sausage or pork. Had no idea what I was eating under the encrusting. Why would you treat alleged fine cuts of meat this way?

Mushrooms were fair, green beans were good, mashed sweet potatoes could have easily passed as coming from the Kroger Deli.

The crème brulee was bordering inedible. Tasted like jello and cinnamon.

Atmosphere - tacky fab 70ish sandstones. The booth seating was very hard on your lower back. Chock full of typical steakhouse rednecks. Didn't see any tank tops but did see plenty of Bermuda shorts and luau shirts.

Decent prices save this place from being a complete waste.

I went on a Saturday night, about 8:30, and there was a little over an hour wait. For those who don't like to wait, be smart and call ahead! I did and made reservations for 8:30 and they assured me, no matter what the wait, I would be seated by 9:00, and I was.
The food was amazing, and definitely worth the price. A 10oz. Filet and 16oz. New York Strip with two sweet tea's totalled $60 after tip. Much much better than Ruth's Chris and the baked potato was wonderful. I'm definitely going back

Pros: Hot rolls, great steak, Romantic Setting, food, employees

Cons: impatient people -, good enough to wait

I have eaten at Stoney River 3 times now and never once have I had a bad meal or experience. This place can definitely compete with Morton's, Flemings, and The Palm. It has a really neat atmosphere and is priced lower than the rest of the steakhouses out there. This restaurant definitely comes recommended and when I have family in town, I'm always sure to take them there.

Pros: Food, Service, Reservations

.

We have been there several times and I have yet to have anything I didn't like. The crab dip and bisque are great for starters, the steaks are tender and cooked as ordered. But for me the fish items are the best, horseradish encrusted grouper and seamse trout are the two best. Dessert is excellant, and even the rolls are sweet enough that they could pass for a dessert.

My Wife and I have gone there for special days, and we have taken family and friends for an early dinner. My little girl is 5 and she loves the little steak she gets.

They only have reservations for groups of 7 or more, but you can do call ahead setting a few days in advance.

Pros: Great Food, Great Selections, Very helpful Staff

Cons: A bit pricey, Long waits on weekend

.

My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant last weekend. For the price the wine list was adequete but not grand. For the both of us it was $57 for entrees and 2 glasses of wine. It's a bit over priced for the food you get. Large portions but a little on the heavy side. I had the Grouper (so/so) he had the Rowdy cowboy steak (very fatty). We prefer Montana's for price and flavor.

Cons: Fattening, over priced

The steak was excellent; tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked. If it was seasoned in the least, I couldn't detect it. As good a steak as I can ever remember eating.

The ambience is boy's-clubbish and cozy; leather-upholstered and dimly lit.

The wine list was too trendy for my taste. Too many Merlots, not enough Bordeauxs and not a single Chateau Neuf.

Our waiter was a bit inexperienced for a resturant of this caliber. He wasn't bad, just unseasoned (perhaps better suited to Longhorn's than to Jimmy Kelly's). But he was eager and I'm sure he'll age as graciously as the steaks.

Pros: steaks Steaks STEAKS, atmosphere

Cons: young-ish staff

.

The dinner was absolutely wonderful, service was great and it is nice to have another quality restaurant in Franklin.

The Salad, Rolls, Steak and.......everything on my plate was absolutely wonderful. I am sure the dessert would have been good....but the rolls were too good to leave room.

Stoney River, one of three O'Charley's concept chains ;has now found Middle Tennessee. Food is supurb, service exemplary, menu choices arguably varied, price, a little ritzy. The Lobster is delicious but pricey, the steaks are large and cooked to perfection, the deserts are divine. Atmosphere ecclectic. I highly recommend this establishment for those occassions when you are making an impression on a new friend, business associate, or just feeling expansive. Dinner for two with one cocktail $70.00

Pros: Food Preparation, Service, a Dining Experience

Cons: 45 minute wait, small bar, pricey

.

Our hour and fifteen minute wait time turned into two hours after being promised repeatedly every 5-10 minutes our table was ready. Turned out the owner gave our table away without telling the hostess. I don't think this place will be in business for very long due to the poor customer service and overpriced mediocre food.

This new chain, owned by O'Charley's, is a definite step up from it's big brother. The decor is very Northern backwoods (think Sportsman's Lodge), the service was a little under par (but they have only been open a short while), and the prices are higher than I would have expected for this locale. BUT......... what a GREAT steak! I'm talking approaching Ruth's Chris quality, Midwestern grain fed Black Angus, done perfectly to order. The sides were great, too! A great place for a special night out.

If Stoney River took reservations and wasn't located near a mall, it would be pretty darn close to perfect. My husband and I arrived at 9:45 on a Saturday night, unsure of what to expect, and glad we didn't have to wait. Although a little surprised by the prices (having expected something more like Outback, less like Ruth's Chris), we were very anxious to try it out. Most everything was great, namely the filet, which was quite possibly the best I'd ever eaten. Contrary to what the other reviewer said, I didn't find the seasoning to be overpowering. And the carmelized onion mashed potatoes really are excellent. But skip the "rolls", which are deep fried and taste like donuts.

Pros: Good service, Great Steak

Cons: Wait, Location

Located in the footprint of the former multiplex, Stoney River emphasizes its steaks. Well they should. They were well aged and tender but the meat's flavor was hidden by the house seasoning. What they should push are the sides. Skip the fries; go for the cameralized onion or garlic mashed potatoes. But don't count on service. The salads were very late and arrived without bread. The entrees came immediately after the salads. (Still the server kept trying to take the salad plates - there must have been a shortage.) Plates were percariously place on top of the utensils or on the edge of the table. One person's entree was totally forgotten and arrived much later only long after getting the server's attention. Stoney River may think of themselves as an upscale steak house. Believe me they are not Mortons or the Palm, except maybe in price where they try.
