It's time for an update on Health Nutz - past deficiencies have been remedied and it is a wonderful facility for young and old offering both land and water exercises and activities. Instructors are professional and client centered. Classes are fun and everyone has a good time while tackling serious activities for health. If you dont want to join a group, work out on your own. Seniors may be eligible for Medicare's Silver Sneakers here too. Health Nutz is an active member of the community serving active members of the community and you wont regret a membership there.

I like the facilities, pool, classes, and personnel. Need for improvement-takes a long time to get around to replacing lights and fixing equipment.

Club is closed all Sundays and holidays-definitely a negative. The club down the street is open on Sundays and most holidays.

This is written May 2011. Joined for the indoor pool and water aerobics. Have joined before. It was disappointing as the water temperature is chilly. Everyone in the pool was complaining but the staff said that it was the temperature that people wanted. No one in pool was pleased. Secondly, probably more important the automatic chlorinator has been malfunctioning with great frequency causing skin and lung reactions. The staff is somewhat hostile to criticism. Members are friendly, staff is not.

Business Response:

First of all I want to apologize for your unhappy experience. The pool tempeture cannot exceed 83-84 as most of the swimmers swim laps. Having a pool tempeture above 84 degress will cause people to overheat. Swimmers can pass out as they do not realize they are over-heating. The people who complain that the pool is too cold really want a therpeutic pool. That is not what this pool was built to be. There have been some difficulties with the Cat system but all of the staff has been trained on how to check levels on the pool to make sure it is maintained properly. I would love to make your experience more pleasant so please stop by my office and let me know what suggestions you have. Thanks!

All 2009 reviews of this business are out of date and certainly do not represent current status of Health Nutz.

I have been a member since August 2010. This is a top notch exercise facility with very helpful staff. The equipment is the best I have used - both in condition and adjustment capability.

Users and staff are very good about cleaning equipment after use and throughout the day and the locker rooms are always immaculate.

There is a nice balance of young and older clients, from high school student athletes to retired folks from nearby communities.

I think Health Nutz is a great Place to workout. I have been coming here for about two years and the staff is awesome. It is like family. The equipment is really good quality from what I have seen at other gyms. The classes are great! I haven't tried the pool but it looks really nice and inviting. The painting on the walls in the pool area really gives it a nice feel. Most of all I really like the attention I get from the staff. Since the change in management about a year ago I can really tell there has been a change for the best.

Pretty Nice place. Are alot of seniors but they don't bother me. I can still get the workout done that I am looking for. They are very nice. Seem to come for the socializing but if it makes them happy. Younger crowd comes in after 5 when everyone gets off work. Haven't taken classes or used the pool but other people seem to like them. Staff is very friendly and help when needed. Gym is really clean. Better by far from what I have seen elsewhere.

We got a two month intro rate that includes classes like zumba and pilates. Trainer (lady) spent an hour developing plans for our fitness goals. We didn't sign up for the pool, but all the issues from older posts seem resolved. Check it out.

To say that the staff is unfriendly is a joke. They are great and they know what they are doing. The pool tempeture cannot exceed 83-84 as most of the swimmers ( like me) swim laps. The people who complain that the pool is too cold really want a therpeutic pool. That is not what this pool was built to be. Leave the staff alone. They are kind and professional. Joe is great and so is Sharon.

Thank you so much for your remarks. It is hard to please everyone but I do try my best!

The equipment has broken pieces on it. With the N1H1 Flu looming they do not require members to clean the equipment after use and believe me no one does.

I signed my kids up for lessons with Health Nutz last year. BIG MISTAKE. I should have put them on the swim team who was always nice and helpful. The manager there is the biggest turn off at all. He is running the place.

My children swim on the local swim team that practices at Health Nutz. I joined Health Nutz 2 years ago and found it convenient to work out while I waited for my kid's swim practice to end. Last year they hired an accountant to manage the facility and everything has changed. The staff are not as friendly, most of my friends did not renew their memberships and the club increased the swim teams rent dramatically causing the team to increase their dues. Now I am stuck with a fitness center that does not appreciate it's members or the youth that practice in their pool. I definately will not renew my membership and would encourage anyone thinking about joining this club to beware.

I hate to say this but this gym is over rated and the staff needs to learn some lessons on being professional. I joined in 2000 and left with in six months. There are better gyms around. This gym needs help

I was a member for 2 years. In the begining I really liked the gym. They had very friendly staff, clean, and most of the time not too buisy. I became frustrated because most of the classes are offered during times when I was unable to go, like during the afternoon. They also got rid of several of the pilates classes. The pool isn't available during the evening because they let a swim team practice there.
I think for $50-75 dollars a month, you should offer more. Its just not flexible enough for a working person.

I joined Health Nuts gym on September 1st of this year (2005) and it was the best decision I have made in a long time. Their facilities are equipped for workouts at any leval of fitness.

Even before you join, you get a free session with a personal trainer. He or she will discuss your goals and what you hope to acheive. After that, you will get to test out some of the equipment. Kinda like a try it before you buy it.

The offer so many different classes everyday that it's hard NOT to find atleast one that you like. They even have calendars right outside of the classroom so you can see when classes are being for the entire month!

In the locker room, you'll find a few showers, large mirrors, spacious walkways, and a sauna. This is great for getting that deep conditioning action if you sit there with your conditioner in your hair. It's so relaxing and serves so many purposes.

Before you run out the door, I recommend taking a dip in their olympic size swimming pool. It's so refreshing and always seems to be at a great temerature. Not to hot or to cold.

They also have on site daycare. Being a mom, that's important to me. I no longer have to worry about how im gonna workout when my kids dont have school.

On a more personal note, they have a suggestion box which seems to do wonders. You simply place your suggestion or request in the box (And it can me anonymous if you want) and they do their very best to accomodate you.

If you like working out but don't want use of the pool, the membership is about $50 a month. If you choose to have access to the pool, you're looking at about $75 a month. That's a little more then I really wanted to spend, but they are close by and easy to get to, so I dont mind paying the extra for convenience.

I would recommend dropping by and checking the place out. You may find yourself going back there everyday!

PROS: helpful and caring staff, variety of equipment, nice ammenities
CONS: a little on the pricey side
