Within the lighting showroom is their appliance division with all the famous name brand appliances you would expect. Also in the lighting showroom is Hermitage Kitchen Design Gallery, where their CKD's have award-winning displays of the finest cabinets in the world.
Is zero stars an option??

My wife and I ordered lights through them online (after going to their disorganized showroom where no one asked us if we needed assistance). A couple days after we ordered our lights online, my wife e-mailed and inquired to when we'd be able to pick up our order (we selected in store pick up). The response she received was bizarre, and the e-mail response said the she was being "demanding". Don't waste your time or your money on these rude and unprofessional people.
Pros: None that I can think of
Cons: Rude and unprofessional

Broken goods
by designertype
I ordered a bunch of fixtures for my new home under construction. Half of everything I ordered was damaged in some way when the box was opened. I have made many trips to the store to return and replace broken merchandise.
I now know that if you buy something from Hermitage you need to open the package and inspect it before you leave the store.
What a waste of my time. Never again.
Pros: Lots of stuff
Cons: Lack of service

Disappointment
by JenniG
I was in this store this past Monday, July 27. I happen to be in the area and thought I would check it out. I had not been in the store since the early 90's. I was extremely disappointed. It is not anything like it used to be. I was in the store a good 45 minutes. I recognized only one salesperson and she was the only one that was busy. When I entered the store, a young girl was sitting at the desk by the front door. She did not say a word. I walked through the store twice covering the entire area from city counter, kitchen, bath, fans, mirrors, all of it. I know of at least five sales people that saw me. I did not have one person to greet me or ask if they could help me. Sandra, the salesperson, past and smiled but she was busy with a couple. I was disappointed in the appearance of the store. The floor needed a good vacuum cleaning. All the fixtures looked very dusty. Salespeople were unfriendly. When I left, the young girl at the desk did tell me to come back. I walked out the door and said to myself, "I will not be back." There are better places to go where people are friendly and helpful. Hermitage Lighting has really gone down hill!
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Needs Changing

I'm not surprised that the employees here at the Hermitage Lighting Gallery are uninterested in their customers! It would seem they have far more dreadful things to worry about at the hand of their bo

My wife and I just purchased a condo in the Gulch area of Nashville, we are firm believers in buying locally (even if the price is a little higher to do so) so a few weeks ago we headed to Lafayette st. It is close by, and locally run.
When we arrived I was immediately turned off by the outdated building, it sort of looks like a used car store from the outside and a cluttered mess within. We were greeted at the door by an older woman who was nice, but seemed insincere- but whatever, its retail. I rarely meet a salesperson who seems genuinely thrilled, and in that dusty mess who can blame her.
Anyhow, the real problem came when we were in the back of the store looking at hanging fixtures (we are interested in customizing our new baths). The lamps hang steps away from the appliance area. This is where we overheard an employee discussing with another being fearful of her job security. We overheard her tell the other that "he was the 3rd person to be fired after being written up on trumped up charges just so Jack wouldn't have to pay unemployment." She looked like she was seconds away from tears. It was heartbreaking. Needless to say we left immediately.
Now I know what one might think, I just overheard a conversation of a possibly disgruntled worker. First of all, I thought it myself. However, I think that the point is that if this is even half true of how this "local" business is treating their employees how on earth might they treat their customers. In this economic climate, I simply will not chance patronizing an establishment that does not value its employees or sees them as expendable. Not today, Not EVER.
Buy local, Buy with conscience!
Pros: cannot say
Cons: dusty mess, inflated prices, questionable business practices

The only good reviews must have been employee written!
by JonForsythe
Our experience is best described by the "RUDE" and "IGNORED" reviews posted from other visitors. The showroom was dirty and dusty and the people who worked in the showroom seemed more interested in their colleagues than potential customers walking in the door. After about 30 minutes, we asked for help from the person at the reception desk, help never came. We left. The experts that a couple of the reviews referenced must have been at another location or writing bad reviews for other stores because they sure were not at this store!
Pros: Easy to get away
Cons: High prices Bad selections NO showroom sales people

I'm Surprised
by NashvilleShopper
That the gallery's rating is so high on here because their prices and selection were quite unreasonable. They were pushy, rude and didn't have anything in stock. My hint would be to compare their prices to those of online retailers - you'll me amazed.
Pros: None

I agree with the response on here...
by CHaS002
They were rude, over priced and seemed uninterested in my business. They seemed more interested in sitting at their desks and talking to each other than to bother me. I was also brushed off by a man who told me that he was not a salesman, he just worked in the back. RUDE!
Pros: None
Cons: Rude

Not Worth It
by TimB10
Rude, overpriced and ugly stuff. The showroom is ugly and the selection is ugly. Check out home depot for the same products at lower prices. trust me.
Pros: none
Cons: home depot is within 2 minutes of this bad place

Excellent service, great prices
by dshweb
I went to Hermitage Lighting to purchase lights for my new home. I was impressed by how knowladgable and helpful the sales staff was. The sales person I worked with asked questions about placment and color scheme before showing me around.
She showed me sevaral different options for each of the rooms I needed and explained the differences and trade-offs with each fixture. I ultimitely purchesed several fixtures at what I felt was a good price. Highly recommended.
Pros: Great selection, helpful and friendly staff
Cons: None that I can think of

thankful
by chevyfan68
For those of you skeptical about going to Hermitage Lighting Gallery, don't be. I admit I hesitated going due to the bad reviews I have read. I decided to drive an hour and check things out for myself and very glad I did. I was greeted when I walked in, but glad a sales person didn't tackle me. I like to have a chance to browse on my own first then request a sales person. I had looked everywhere for a bathroom light fixture and wasn't finding what I wanted. Needless to say I found several at HLG, but eventually decided on one with the help of Irene. I absolutely LOVE my new fixture, it was exactly what I was looking for. The price was a little more than what you would find at Home Depot or Lowes, but Irene negotiated with me and I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. To comment on TomForrestNashville's review, keep in mind this is not LOS ANGELES, it is NASHVILLE. California has a lot of contemporary homes. I saw lighting in ALL styles and as for the cluttered showroom, this is a lighting GALLERY, what do you expect a museum type setting? I think is it awesome that so many fixtures are on display because you can't always judge by a picture in a catalog. In the end I have learned over the years of working with the public, you are never going to please everyone.
Pros: Items in stock
Cons: none

Worst, slowest, service I have EVER experienced!!
by jennyhas4eyes
I am currently adding an 1800 sq ft addition to my home and redesigning my kitchen (with a REAL interior designer). I had initially come into Hermitage in search of a kitchen designer as well. I was unwilling to go with either of the designers there as most of the examples I was shown were antiquated. I couldn't help but to wonder if she was just not keeping up her continuing education or if she truly believed anyone would want a cerulean blue and orange kitchen.
Then Monday this week I went in looking for some lighting for my addition. I wandered around ALONE for 40 minutes. I then asked the interesting looking (easy on the make-up) front desk girl for help. 20 minutes after, with no body paying me ANY heed. I left.
I have to wonder if this "local" business cares at all about serving the community or what.
Pros: hmm???
Cons: dirty, cluttered looking showroom, bad service

Most friendly staff and largest selection...
by msgardener
I, unlike a previous review, had a wonderful experience and Hermitage and found all of the salespeople to be quite knowledgeable and friendly. It seemed as though everyone (the staff) was glad to be there and was having a great time with each other. I suggest checking it out a making your own call about how you're treated by a sales staff.
They also have great prices and a huge selection. Also, their customer service is second to none. They will go above and beyond the make the consumer feel welcome and satisfied.
I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Pros: The selection and the knowledgeable sales staff.

Beautiful Lights at Great Values

Best selection in town and unbeatable prices. Hermitage Lighting Gallery really knows their stuff. Staff was great and prices were even better. Make sure to get all of your lights here!
Pros: Everything about Hermitage Lighting Gallery was a pro
Cons: There weren't any.

Disappointed
by martica
My husband and I chose to replace our Sub Zero with a lessor brand based on advice from the salesman. We were told that the product we were purchasing was of equal quailty and that they stand behind their products. Unfortunately, the appliance has not worked properly since the installation and all attempts to get a replacement have been met with the good old run around! We have had a repairman out twice, contact Hermitage, all to no avail thus far. We are still hoping they will come through for us and restore our faith in their company (We always bought our lighting there)

Very pleased
by alancosta
We just finished building a new home and found Hermitage to be very friendly, more than patient, and helped us stay within our budget. In 1999 I built another home and used a competitor. The difference was dramatic. My wife handled a number of the details with Hermitage and was more than pleased. I personally dislike shopping, but my trips to Hermitage were the highlight of buying the necessary items to build a home.
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable, good prices

Previous Review all wrong
by billthecat24
The person making the review posted really has no clue what they are talking about. Hermitage Lighting Gallery is a family owned and operated by a man not a women as stated by the reviewer. Please have correct information before bashing a company or somebody related to it. Hermitage Lighting has by far the best variety and largest selection of lighting in Nashville. Along with the most educated staff. Buyer beware of consumers with chips on their shoulders. For the best in lighting that Nashville has to offer Hermitage Lighting is your best and only source. I have been shopping their for many year and will continue to.
Pros: Best selection, Will match any price, Highly educated staff

Please Shop Around
by emmametcalfe
Please shop around when you're buying high priced items, or any items. The owner is very proud to have been in Parade of Homes, but she's rude and notice there's 8 other homes by other people in there. How do I know they;ve been in PoH>? It's the reason they give for being so over priced. I did not feel comfortable at all here, the owner dismissed me after stating I'd seen the same piece elsewhere at a lower price (hoping she'd match it) and told me I wasn't the type of customer they'd normally cater to!! If they've been in business this long, it must have had prior ownership or something, because they certainly don't welcome new clientele.
Cons: Rude, Dismissive, Insulting
