Pavel worked with me by email on the budget, and I paid exactly what was quoted, not a penny more ..
The team was efficient and helpful at pick up and at drop off, even my 87 year old mother was raving about the friendly, polite and helpful service.
I have no doubt that I will use Moishe's again .. unfortunately, not in Chicago - But you can!
Pavel is the best - tell him Adriana sent you :)

Pros: My second LONG distance move with Moishe's

.

Moishe's recently moved my mom and they did such a great job! They were friendly, professional, on time and efficient. They proved an honest quote before the day of the move so there were no suprises. I would definitely use them in the future!

We had just finished unpacking the contents of our 4 bedroom house we recently moved with the Moishe's company. I must admit, they were not the least expensive choice, but definitely worth it. All our precious possesions (my wife's china collection too) made it to our new home in the perfect order. Our piano (my biggest concern) was proffesionally taken apart, moved and put together by their "piano crew", without single knick or scratch. I think they deserve 5 stars and I will reccomend them to all my friends.

Excellent service at very reasonable price.
They moved my 1 bedroom condo in less than 5 hours.
Everything went smooth and very fast, considering the fact that these guys wrap all furniture in pads and they had to carry everything 3 flights up.
I had to change the date in the last minute (closing problems) and that was not an issue for them.
I would recommend to check this company if you are planning a move.

These guys rock. The crew arrived on time as promised, they moved everything in less than 4 hours, nothing was broken or damaged (they are actually wrapping all your furniture in moving blankets) , the final cost came under the estimate they had given us. We could not ask for more. They also have a storage lockers (inexpensive ones- $35/month), one of the pieces did not fit through the stairs so we ended up storing it.
Very well organized company. Polite and very helpful crew.
Thank you again

I have just unpacked the last box these guys did and I must say, they know what they are doing.
They packed and moved my 2 bed room apartment in less than 8 hours and everything seems fine.
Nothing was broken or damaged. All furniture was put together and they even helped me with connecting my stereo components (one of the guys was an electronics expert). I read all the reviews here and I realize that your move will be as good as the crew you are going to get on the moving date. The head mover on the crew I had was Martin, and I recommend you ask for him when scheduling your move.
Overall very positive experience, AND ALL THIS FOR VERY REASONABLE PRICE.

Once again it was a fantastic expierience. It was my second move with these guys and it looks like they are only getting better. The crew was good, very careful and very fast. It has been 2 years from the last time and they pretty much charged me the same amount. They arrived right on time and all stages went as planned.
I would recommend this company to anybody who needs a good mover.

Our four movers were four Eastern European college kids, nice enough guys really,
but not all that professional. Sloppy packers, some of our stuff was damaged. I really had the impression
that they milked the clock. A lot of standing around, one guy just walking around and taping
boxes. When I was gone for a while they had the time to grab my Ipod, plug it in the loudspeakers
and play some music for themselves. Not impressed.

Based on moving the same stuff from year to year, this should have been a $300-400 move. It cost $900. These guys know how to milk the clock. They arrived on time, & checked out my apartment... but then all 4 of them disappeared for 20 minutes. When they finished loading their gargantuan truck (our stuff filled *maybe* a 3rd of it), I went along ahead to meet them at the other end. It took them an hour to travel 2.4 miles. AN HOUR!! wtf?! For the unload, I tried to help carry things as much as possible, since they were moving so slow. But 3 of the guys & I ended up standing around a lot, waiting for the 4th guy (the foreman?) to putz around inside the truck... Finally, with about 20 boxes remaining (seriously, with 5 of us going up one flight of stairs, that's should take less than 10 min) they all disappeared. I found them in the alley, sitting down for a smoke break. The truck was empty by 2:34pm, but they went ahead and charged us until 3pm.
On the up side, the breakage rate was low - they only damaged 3 or 4 of our things. They did wrap most of the furniture in blankets (one guy spent a good 30 min and 3 rolls of tape wrapping the couch...) without which, the gouge they left in the doorframe would have been much worse. The mattress boxes were nice, but I wish they had told us they were going to charge extra for those.
The language barrier was definitely a problem, and created some general confusion about ways we could be most helpful to them, and our preferences for where we wanted things.
We did feel really bad for one of the guys because he was smaller, and kind of old & tired. He had to rest a lot, and seemed reluctant to approach any cumbersome pieces. I guess you can't blame the poor guy for being out of shape, but at $130 an hour, you expect to get big, strong, energetic guys who can get the job done.

Pros: Liberal use of moving blankets, arrived on time.

Cons: Slow, inefficient, poor communication

Moishes Moving stinks! Over priced, under paid cheap labor. I would be very careful using these guys. They will quote you one thing and then when the day comes, wham! New price because of fuel increase.

I decided to write it because I just do not know what to believe anymore.
I moved with these guys 2 days ago and everything went wonderful. They fully packed , moved and set up my 2 bed room apartment in less than 8 hours. Price was fair and the service was amazing. Not a single dent or scratch on any of my furniture. They even hauled away the empty boxes.
I would recommend this company to anybody.

DO NOT MOVE WITH MOISHE'S

We moved with Moishe's in May and were severely disappointed. Charged us double than the quote and broke over $4000 worth of our things. Citysearch was WRONG!

Contacted Moishe's 1+ week before our move and due to "time constraints" they weren't able to do an in-home estimate. They quoted us $800/5 hours for a 4th floor walk-up to a 4th-floor walk up. It took from 9am to 9pm and cost 2x more than the quote. They ripped us off with the insurance - They filled in the space where we're supposed to indicate how much are things are worth, they wrote in 30 cents/lb.

The complaining began as soon as they arrived. Sooo slow they called in more movers. We were supposed to be done at 2pm, at 2pm they weren't done moving our stuff out of the 1st place (the 15 min breaks every 45 didn't help).

Here's our experience:
- The movers took our clothes from the closet and put them in boxes without asking and charged us $10 a box (10 boxes = $100 we didn't authorize).
- A box marked "CAREFUL - ANTIQUE GLASS" was on the bottom of 10 boxes - all was broken.
- They threw a guitar in a soft case into the truck. We yelled at him, but he didn't understand. They pretended not to speak English.
- In a 2nd bedroom they ripped the door off the hinges trying to get a pull-out couch out - it had been easily placed in that room by the original delivery men.
- We stopped them from moving anything more after they were 3 hours overdue.
- They didn't take the planters off the rooftop deck that were mentioned when originally booking services.
- They ruined a brand new (not out of the original box) 50" flat screen TV.
- They broke the pull-out couch and Dyson vacuum (dropped it right in front of me).

They've offered $300 for the $400 Dyson and $3999 TV (Total = $4400) and they would have someone repair the couch. We're out $4100 just for our things and we still have to pay over $1600 for the horrible move.

About a month ago I was searching for movers with good feedback and through word of mouth i heard about Moishe's Moving Systems. I was only making a small move from Wrigleyville to Wicker Park and I needed there service quick. They kindly obliged and within 2 days everything was scheduled and the movers arrived on time. It was quick and smooth and the gentlemen were courteous to my fragile boxes. All in all, i would absolutely recommend Moishe's to friends for impeccable service.

I chose these movers based on the reviews. I have moved twice before and would have used the last company but they were no longer in service. I am in the middle of unpacking and stopped just to write this review! I am just sick about the amount of damaged they did to my belongings. My furntiure (entertainment center) was cracked in half. They lost a piece to my son's crib. I realized the piece was missing as they were leaving in the truck. I flagged them down and we search the truck. We did not find the piece BUT there were other boxes they "forgot" to unload. Almost every single box that had glass/picture frames/dishes have been broken. Literally, I had boxes filled with shattered glass. I packaged everything in bubble wrap and in small boxes so they weren't too heavy. But they stacked them so high in the truck and were not careful to put the fragile boxes on top. I had two different crews load and then unload my stuff (I used their storage facility for a month) and they both were very slow and careless. As I was reading reviews, I just wanted to find one that would take care of my stuff. I am devastated at the amount of items that are broken and lost. I would not recommend them. Your bleongings are important to you and I have had to throw so much away because of the damage. Also, I had them scheduled to come at 10:30 AM, they showed at 3:30 PM. DO NOT USE THEM!! Good Luck with your move and find a reliable movng company... not this one!

It was a very first time I was moving. When I saw the "reviews" I was very uncertain.
After talking to several movers I decided to use Moishes. I think it was the best choice I could have made.
The movers were quick, very careful, very nice and the move came under the estimated cost. All furniture was very well protected and even my antique mirror was crated.
I highly recommend them to anybody, absolutely the best service you can have.

I thought by paying a premium price I would get a premium move. The movers rushed through the move, and damaged 15 of my 20/25 or so large items.

I was told everything was going to be wrapped in plastic and moving blankets. If they stuck by their word my items would have not been damaged.

I would never recommend this company to anyone, unless you want your precious belongings destroyed by an overpriced & inconsiderate moving company.

I've had poor experiences with movers in the past. But Moishe's was much better than any movers I've ever used before. The movers were proffesional, polite, efficient, and handsome. :) But seriously, everything went better than I would have ever dreamed. Everything was padded and protected very well, there was absolutely nothing damaged, and everything was set up in my new apartment the way I asked it to be. Not to mention, the estimate that I was originally quoted was right on the money. I will definitely use this company for all of my moves in the future. Don't even think twice, call these guys up.

None of the men were wearing gloves and one of the men cut himself. I now have red spots (from his dripping cut) on my furniture and dried red residue on many of my boxes and other belongings. I later found out that the man knew that he cut himself because he asked one of my neighbors (not me, of course) for a bandage. Now I have to go through the hassle of getting furniture cleaned.

Another of the men was not watching as he rolled a dolly full of stuff through my hallway. The dolly was rolling at an angle and headed straight for my wall. Without my intervention, the dolly would have made a good size dent or gash in the wall.

Some parts of furniture "fell off" and were "lost" on the truck.

It took them as long or longer to unload into a building with an elevator than it did for them to load up the truck from a third floor apartment with no elevator.

I chose this moving company based on the reviews I read on this site.

The movers showed up on time and my boxes were all ready and stacked up in one single room. I was the last to leave the apartment so I did a walk-through to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. The movers waited for me outside and followed me as I drove in my car to the new apartment.

At the new apartment they unloaded everything and again I asked them to put all boxes in one room.
The movers put all my furniture in place and worked fairly quickly. I tipped them and they left. My mistake was not counting the boxes before they left.

I started unpacking little by little and it wasn't until a week later when I put my bookshelves up that I realized I had nothing to put on them. The boxes that I had very clearly marked "CD/DVDs" were gone.
My entire music and movie collection was gone. I called Moishe's twice and they never called me back.
The person who answered the phone said I needed to speak to a manager and would put me into the manager's voicemail. I left detailed messages with my bill of lading number, my date of move, my old address and new address, my home, cell and work number... I NEVER GOT A CALL!

I wasn't very persistent with my calling because I was out of town a lot at the time but I was still very disappointed that this so-called manager never bothered to return my call.

All in all, I would recommend them for their quick work but DEFINITELY triple check your inventory before they leave the premises.

Moishe's is the best moving company I've ever used. They moved me across the country, from the Midwest to the Southwest.

The movers showed up on time, with good attitudes, worked quickly, and they even helped me finish packing.

When I arrived at my new home, the movers had already been there, ( a friend let them in) and I was very impressed with the way they placed my furniture and boxes in the new house. It made it very easy for me to sort through everything at the new house. They even put together my garage shelves just as they'd been in the old house, and with the same boxes on them. Nice touch!

Also, this is the first time I've ever moved where nothing got broken in the move!

I will definitely use Moishe's again for my next move, whenever that may be.

Pros: On time, fair price, professional

.

I'd like to express my hapiness with Moishe's Moving Systems. The price was honest and the move was quick.

I scheduled my appointment the day after the previous review was posted, which is good I suppose because it likely would have influenced my decision to use Moishe?s. I have moved four times in the past 18 months for work and was adamant that I would not being handling this move on my own. Not to mention, I am new to the city and winter has arrived. I chose Moishe?s because of the reviews, their award (Best Mover 2007), and their fees. Fortunately, my experience was very good. They arrived 30 minutes early, were very efficient and careful with my items, and they finished the job an hour less than was quoted. They did not damage anything and were very professional. My movers were from Poland as well. They probably said some things about my two cats and me like the other reviewer, but when I gave them their tip and showed them the text message that my friend (Polish) sent to me that said, ?Thanks for doing a great job. Merry Christmas!?, they both had huge smiles on their faces and said, ?Same to you!?. All language barriers and pleasantries aside, I definitely recommend this service.

I called this service because of the votes on here and I definately regret it. They arrived on time without issue, started packing things up and everything seemed to be going well for the first hour or so. Then.. not so much...

I told them they would have to disassemble the daybed since we built it in the room, they didn't. I now have chunks of wood taken out of the edges of the daybed they disassembled AFTER banging it up.

They didn't wrap up our glass table top and tried rolling it down the hall before they were stopped and told to blanket it.
Then to make it even better, they left half of our belongings outside on the sidewalk while they got themselves stuck in a blocked off alleyway for an hour and a half instead of going out the way they came in.
Throughout the move I paid for 3 men, 2 of which handled most of the house while one took his time doing one room that had a sofa, a tv and a cabinet in it.

To top it all off, they were speaking Polish the entire time, which would be fine except, unfortunately for them my boyfriend can understand much of the language and I got to hear about all the sarcastic remarks they were making while getting us moved, and their complaints about running out of time when it was their fault for running over by thinking that the construction crew would move so they could go out of a marked & blocked off, exit to the alley.

Pros: Easy to schedule, arrived on time

Cons: Broke furniture, didn't handle much of anything with care.

I recently moved from Chicago to Ann Arbor, MI with Moishe's. Having moved every year for the past four years (twice within NYC, then from NYC to Chicago, and finally my most recent move) I have experienced some of the best and worst aspects of hiring movers. This recent move was perfect. From the moment I contacted Moishe's several months in advance to get a ballpark quote, to my in-home estimate, to finalizing pre-move logistics, to the actually moving day itself, and even beyond the moving day, I received professional and attentive service. The general manager who did my in-home estimate was my contact for the entire lead-up to my move and remained my contact even after--helping me to locate three small framed pictures that as I unpacked realized had not made it off the truck. I followed up with him and not only was he able to find the pictures, he had them packed and shipped to me immediately. The level of attention and organization that requires on the part of a moving business is significant. The crew who loaded up and delivered my possessions was prompt and efficient. And the price was well below other movers for same-day service. If I had gone with anyone cheaper, they would have required me to wait several days or weeks for my possessions to be delivered (even though it is only a four-hour drive) from Chicago to Ann Arbor. Moishe's was the only (of about a dozen) companies in Chicago I looked into that didn't try to screw around (e.g. adding in charges like $5/roll of tape used in the wrapping of furniture) with seemingly "low-ball" estimates (as most of the companies--even those with good reviews--did) and didn't (on the other end of the spectrum) want to charge so much that I might as well have just bought all new possessions in Michigan. It was a great experience -- straight-forward, candid, reliable, and as stress-free as any move can be. I highly recommend them...Obviously... :)

I used the Chicago branch of this company but I have complains for both offices (NYC & Chi). I had always moved myself but decided to get movers for my last move. When looking for quotes from movers, Moishe's was the first to contact me. The person I spoke with argued with me about the time it would take. I ended up going with Moishe's and they argreed to waive the truck/travel fee to keep my costs down. 3 men showed up and they took way too long to move me, there is no reason it should take 4 hours for 3 men to move 1 person from a small-medium 1 bedroom to a medium-large 1 bedroom, 2 miles away. They also showed up late. They "lost" a lamp shade and light bulb for a floor lamp. Also, I had a small dolly that they used at my old place, they then left it in the lobby of my old apartment building and asked me if I could go back and get it. I agreed and naturally it was gone. I called to file a claim and was told they would mail me out a form immediately which I never got. Called the next week and it was emailed to me. I returned it a week later and another week goes by with no word from them so I call again and they tell me that I need to sign a release. I said okay but I needed it that day as I was going on vacation for a week. Naturally I did not get it. I signed the release June 1, called June 20 to inquire about my check. I spoke with the customer service mgr who told me it would take 3-4 weeks but he did not bother to check into my claim. Another week goes by and I call back. I am now told that there was a "personnel issue" and my check had not been cut, it would be cut the beginning of the next week (7/1). As of 7/9 I still have not gotten my check. Spoke again with CSR mgr to find out it was not cut until 7/6. I have had a very, very, very poor customer service experience with this company. The movers were good except they took too long. I still will not be using the company again, there are too many moving companys out there.

Pros: Took care of my items, took apart & put together furniture

Cons: Terrible customer service, arrived late, lost items, took too long

Moishe's movers were friendly and very hard working - no complaints from them or me. They had four guys with a great system in place to get boxes and furniture into the truck quicky. My only complaint is that I booked an AM service 5 weeks in advance and four days before my move they called to say they double booked themselves and needed to bump me to the PM slot - unacceptable. I spoke to the supervisor and managed to get this resolved, though the last thing I needed was nother headache. On the morning of the move, they were spot on time and exceedingly helpful in getting things done. I would highly recommend this moving company - it is WELL worth the money and is a reasonable price.

Cons: some administrative confusion with the booking operator (didn't give me adequate info)

Thank you, I am touched, moved and inspired by how this moving company operates!!! About 4 month ago we decided to renovate our house and needed to move, everything that we accumulated in the past 15 years (including all the memories) into storage for almost two month. My Daughter recommended Moishe?s (She lives in NJ now and used their branch in NJ for her move) I decided to give them a call. From the first contact, the professional young gentleman that came to give us the estimate and the movers themselves; this company was just too good to be true. They had a solution for all of our needs; packing the entire house, impressive, clean and secure storage facility and a crew of kind and highly professional movers. Right before the holidays they moved everything back to our house; just on time before our kids came home to find everything back as it was?. I am really inspired by how this great company made such a stressful time in our life so easy and smooth.
Thank you, I don?t think that we will move again in the near future, but we will defiantly recommend you guys to everyone we care about.

Moishe's is by far the best moving company in Chicago that I used...and I have moved within Chicago and recently from Chicago to NY, so I had my experience with several movers...
I used Moishe's in the last two moves, within Chicago and 9 month later out of the state, the movers were great, kind and polite, they did an excellent job. They arrived on time, packed my furniture with care and moved my belonging safely to my new house, exactly at the estimated price, not even a penny more...
Yes they do deserve more reviews.... They have a great service and they deserve the compliments.

7.2 score? No way! Get some reviews up here, Moishe's is easily the best moving company in the Chicago area. I've used them over SEVEN TIMES to move my home & businesses. Theirstaff demonstrated extreme professionalism throughout the job. Most importantly, they respected the delicate nature of the move and took careful precautions... truly outstanding service!
