A nice spot to stop on your way to Lancaster. This Amish type village is located in the town of Intercourse on RT 340 just 10 miles east of Lancaster City. You could spend a day here it has over 40 shops in this little village. I have been visiting this spot with my children for over 10 years. Enjoy a Buggy Ride or cut loose and race on a battery-powered tractor. Kids only. Throughout the year they will have a variety of events going on. Small bands, dancers and other special events. Parking is ample and it is handicap accessible. In the summer the town gets crowded so come early and beat the crowds.

If you are looking for a place to find the freshest jams, jellies and relishes look no further. Kitchen Kettle jars the best that you will find in Lancaster county. Best part about Kitchen Kettle is that you can sample every single jam, jelly, relish and condiment that they offer. They will ship all the items to your home if you can't carry it and they also offer fresh baked items. Their shoo-fly pie is really super.

PROS: Fresh jams, jellies and relishes that can not be beat.
CONS: I can't think of any.

This little shopping area in Intercouse houses several different quaint shops. The best shop of all is the Kitchen Kettle Canning Shop where you can sample and purchase all of their jams and jellies. The jams are the best ever! They even have receipe cards for you to take to make certain spreads and dips. This is always one of my favorite stops in one of my favorite areas of PA.

Kitchen Kettle Village is a great place to visit whether you are a tourist or you are a native of Lancaster County. They offer a variety of shops to suit the interests of people of many different ages and tastes. The actual Kitchen Kettle shop has delicious jams, jellies, and more which they always have available for sampling. There are often musicians or singers playing in the courtyard which is a treat for visitors. Definitely worth a visit!

There is so much to say about Kitchen Kettle in the quaint town of Intercourse, Pennsylvania, in the heart of Amish Country.
So lets just take a stroll through, shall we and I'll point out my favorite shops and sights...

Right near the front entrance area, you'll most likely see a large open carriage and horses(depending on the season/weather) That's where you can embark on a relaxing ride all around the town of Intercourse while your guide, Gene or maybe his brother, maybe even Daniel, an elderly Old Order Amishman, will explain everything you see, give facts & info about the Amish in the area, point out points of intrest & tell you all about how the movie Witness was filmed right there, in Intercourse. You'll even see the very same, original payphone from which Harrison Ford made a phone call from in the movie-& yes, it IS the very same phone he touched! lol Gene himself will tell you how it was his very well-trained-by voice command ONLY, horses were used in the filming of Witness.
Then, back at Kitchen Kettle you can visit the fudge shop and watch fudge being made on huge marble slabs and oh, don't forget to sample some and buy some to go! Its delish!
You may hear some ragtime music and do follow your ear, because you are in for a treat! You'll most likely find Banjo Jimmy and his band, playing their Ragtime music for everyone's enjoyment! Its toe-tapping great fun and hey, do drop a buck or too in the tambourine!
Then we step inside The Jam and Jelly Kitchen...ooohhh, the smells! Sample just about everything they make and watch some being made!
You won't leave without several jars!! lol
But before I run out of room here...Kitchen Kettle is a MUST when in Amish Country, Pa!

PROS: Many shops, Live Ragtime music, famous Jam & Jelly Kitchen!
CONS: NONE!!

This is a really nice "village" of stores that celebrate the Pennsylvania dutch spirit. It is a good place to begin an adventure in Lancaster County. You can find all sorts of PA dutch treats and gifts here. The prices are reasonable for a tourist area. Keep an eye on their schedule because they have various events scheduled throughout the year.
