I shopped at Dave's supermarket's many times before, in more than one location. I like them all, over-all it is a quality store with quality foods. As with any store you may run into some employees with bad attitudes who seem rude but all of them are not rude just some and many are very helpful and friendly with fair attitudes, employees that show concern about the customers shopping experience.

The food is incredibly old. Daves Supermarket sells incredibly old food. In the bakery donut and cake cabinets there are always flies in the case. I have repeatedly seen Daves supermarket employees in the bakery section drop food and put it in the display case (customers are not likely to evr know).

At dave's supermarkets, The canned foods are toward the end of their shelf life - look at the manufacturing dates. As a result the canned vegetables taste like tin. Canned foods at other stores do not have that metallic flavor.

At Dave's Supermarkets The frozen foods tend to have freezer burn and have substantial frost, which seems to indicate that the food they buy has sat in a frozen food storage unit for way too long.

The fresh fruits and vegetables at Dave's Supermarket are too dried out. Daves's saves money by not watering fresh food as often as other stores. As a result, the quality of the fresh foods there is the worst in the area. It does not last long after purchase.

At Dave's Supermarket the employees are unpleasant, unfriendly and surly. Few employees at Daves supermarkets seem to like people; many employees seem to disdain interacting with customers. I often wonder how Daves Supermarkets could consisntently hire so many unpleasant employees. You would think they could not hire so many jerks if they actually tried to do so. Yet they do. Employees are the worst aspect of the miserable Daves Supermarket experience

The general shopping experience at Dave's is poor. It is unfortunately the worst in the Cleveland area.

Employees at the various Dave are unfriendly, indifferent to customers, lazy, and at times hostile to customers. I use the East 222nd store in Euclid (a suburban neighborhood), which is close to where I am often working; and I am amazed at how poor the customer service is in all areas. Daves supermarkets should be studied by Human Resource professionals and Customer Service Consultants everywhere to understand the negative impact of bad employees. EVERYTIME I go to the bakery section the employee ignores me while she talks on her phone, even when he/she clearly sees me there.

I am in my 50s and have never been to a supermarket where the service was worse. Daves supermarket employees are terrible. You never get a warm smile or greeting from the cashiers - it is always a pained or indifferent look at best. I would like to patronize them as a locally owned business but the consistently poor customer service is such a turn off I have decided to go to a supermarket where employees seem to value their customers, such as Giant Eagle and Heinins. Quite simply Dave's Supermarket sucks! Support free enterprise and reward store with good service by spending your money where customers are treated well

I am a young single Mother, I take my 3 yr old Son with me to Daves on Payne all of the time...
But EVERY time, someone bothers me on the way in, or on the way out of the store!...All of the security guards stay inside of the store, while "Thugs" harass me in the lot outside...I didn't even get a chance to un-buckle my Son out of his carseat- Sure enough, a thug was at my door asking for money, I told him I am a single Mom, get away from me-
Inside the store is a lot different, Produce is good, products are neatly stocked, although the cashiers look like they hate being there, and I walked by 2 female workers talking about what a good high they got from the drugs they took the night before...It seems like class is a word some of them will never know...I bought ice cream sandwiches which were terribly freezer burnt,,,But everything else I have ever bought there has been high quality(exept the Hotel-style ribs) real fatty;(...
I wont be going to that one ever again, you shouldnt have to be walked out to your car with an officer by yourside just to buy food...

Today I was at Dave's Super Market (30th & Payne Avenue) to pick up my son birthday cake. Before I purchase the cake, I check to make sure that everything was correct. However, I found what looked like hair within the icing. I address this issued with the employee(Hope), and her response was either I take the cake or get my money back (Her tone of voice was with straight attitude). Then she claimed that she did not see any hair within the icing. By this time another employee inspected the cake, and she agreed with me about the hair. Since today was my son birthday, I did not have many options to get another Diego cake. So, I asked Hope (employee), if she take that part of the icing off and replace it. Again she claimed that she could not do that! By this time another employee(from the deli) inspected the cake and informed that it was not hair, but particles from the box, which she did remove from the cake. When I spoke to the manager about the employee lack of excellent customer service skills, he claimed that he will address the issue, but I doubt that he will. Because of this situation today, I WILL NO LONGER SHOP AT DAVE'S MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been to Dave's too many times, but I can tell you that I've never been disappointed when I did go there looking for hard to find items. The store is clean, the shelves fully stocked, fresh foods, the usual and not so unusual items that you may need. The prices are great too.
