This park and farm was owned by Pulitzer Prize winner Louis Bromfield. It is a working farm but it is better known as the retreat where Bogart and Bacall were married in 1945.

Today Malabar farm has fishing in the lake by the house for the young kids, tours of the house where Mr. Bromfield entertained his Hollywood guests and there are hay rides and other events held during the year.

The best known of these events is the annual Heritage Days festival featuring many local craftsmen and their work for sale.

There is ample parking for both big and small events, Thre are picnic areas both around the farm and off the main property for your family or community events.

PROS: Lots of Family things to do

When you hear of a State Park you often think of a forest or camp ground area or lake. Well that's not the case with Malabar Farms. This is a working farm that was once owned by author Louis Bromfield. When you visit this farm you can walk the grounds, take a hike on one of the nature trails, visit the barn, look through the antique farm equipment, take a ride on a hay wagon, or visit the Bromfield home. You can do almost all of this for free. You have to pay for the hay wagon ride and home tour. Throughout the year they hold quite a variety of events. Most of which are free. Some have a small admission price, but it's well worth it. A wonderful, educational place to take the family for a nice afternoon.

PROS: lots to do for free, hands on experience with animals, educational
CONS: needs more kids activities, tours are expensive
