Alluminare Lighting Incorporated

Im an industrial designer, so I know good quality products when I see them and when I dont. The shade from Alluminaire was okay, but the satin stainless stem was a complete waste of money. The canopy is thin gauge; there are exposed screws; the stem is not adjustable and looks like it came off a $15 Ikea lamp. It was probably made in the same factory. After complaining about the poor quality, I got no response from Alluminaire. The bottom line is, you should never buy anything from an online company that does not have a physical address and land line available to all customers and clearly shown on a contact page. I should have followed my instincts! What a mistake.

The first 3 "reviews" here are a bit fishy. In a way I agree with Jon B. The hardware isn't worth what they charge. There's really nothing special about it. The lamp, however, is beautiful and I would never have found just what I wanted off the shelf. So they are overpriced, but they can save you a lot of time trying to find something similar to what they can do.

As far as customer service is concerned, I beg to differ with the others. You cannot call them. I did online chat and they promised me a phone call, but I never got a call. The problem was that I ordered a 14" pendant drum and they sent me a 12". I decided to keep the 12" as it was fine, but the diffuser rod was for the 14", so they had to send me another one. Getting a tracking number and sorting out why it took so long was VERY frustrating. Then they sent me the wrong tracking number. Its very frustrating dealing with them. Their "live chat" is not really their company so they can't really answer specific questions.

I was going to buy another one, but I'm not going to. I like my lamp, but its not worth the trouble if there is a problem

I ordered my lights on October 15th and got them one week later. I want to say what a good job this company did. They exceeded my expectations in every way.

First off, I agree that the site looks awesome. The lighting and fabrics are nicely displayed and I could zoom in on everything.

Secondly, the product I received exceeded my expectations. I was nervous about ordering online, but once I opened the box (which came a lot faster than I was promised), I was pleasantly surprised. The colors in the shade matched what I saw online---exactly. The hardware (I got the nickel silver adjustable stem) is beautiful. My husband put it up the next day and had no problems. The only problem I had was that the installation instructions seemed to be missing at the time (I found them later), but I went onto their site and downloaded them.

I could not be happier. It was a great purchase with great communication every step of the way.

I just got my pendant lights for my bedroom after having an Alluminare light over my dining table for a year.

My experience: customer service was awesome. The agent who helped me was knowledgeable and friendly. The installation was easy and straight-forward---the instructions were clear and helpful and the hardware is a beautiful silver. It matches my doorknobs perfectly. The shade itself is exactly what I expected---you can tell that a lot of care went into making it and the fabric is just lovely.

It took just under a month to get, but it was worth the wait for a custom thing like this---I've bought other custom items before and waited much longer.

I'll post a picture if I can figure out how to work my new camera I got for Christmas!

From the day I called and spoke with their very helpful customer serive rep, to when I received my order, every step of my experience with Alluminare has been a total pleasure! I have dealt with other online companies, but none even come close to the kind of care I was given while dealing with this amazing company. I have since recommended all my friends and relatives to Alluminare - you honestly can't beat the fantastic selection and excellent customer service, which in this day and age is a very rare thing. Two thumbs waaay up for this company, I don't know what I would have done without them. My house now truly feels like a home with my new pendant:-)

Beware of Alluminare (www.alluminare.com) -- I recently placed an order for over $600 of pendant lighting (ordered in November, received in December), and I have rarely had such a poor experience with service and quality.

The lights look fantastic on the site, and the variety of options is deep, but when I actually got the product, I was disappointed by the actual quality -- the shade is akin to what you could pick up at Target.

The hardware is a joke -- I could have done better going to a local hardware store and picking out pieces myself. As I was installing each of them (3 altogether), it turned out that the brackets used to mount the lights to the junction box are incorrectly space, not drilled for the right diameter of screw, or both.

When I contacted Alluminare about the discrepancy, they sent a new bracket that also failed to fit. When asked about the value of the $600 I spent, they replied that it was the handmade process and lenient service policies that made it worth the money -- I haven't perceived either of them to be true.

Try somewhere else.
