We have been taking our car here for 2 1/2 years and have been 100% impressed by their professionalism and customer service. We trust their judgement in recommending the work that really needs to be done and their charges for completing that work. The quality of their work is equal to the quality of their customer service. We recommend John & Corky's without any reservation. Marshall T.

I took my car to Champion Toyota for an oil change. While there, I had them check out a noise it was making. After 2-1/2 hrs of sitting there, they had not yet even looked at it (I got there at 6:30 that morning and was one of the first four cars in the place). After some proding, the rep got someone to look at it. They said that a bracket was broken on the exhaust system and that two brake lines were in bad shape. They start telling me I would need to involve my insurance on the repairs, and gave me an estimate of $1826. As for the noise, the mechanic stated to me that the noise simply could be due to the number of miles I had on my car and they wrote on the estimate that "replacing the motor mounts might cure the problem." I told them I'd get back to them. Instead I called John and Corky's and spoke to John. When I told him what Toyota told me, he told me to bring it in and he'd look at it. I went straight over there and true to his word, he cleared out a bay and put my car up right away. After looking at it, he agreed with Toyota that a bracket was broken and two brake lines needed replacing, but he told me he could save me about $1000 or over the price they quoted. I left my car with him and they gave me a ride to my job. My car was ready about 1:30 pm the next day. And guess what, no more noise!!! They charged me $822.

I knew about John and Corky's because I used to take my Toyota Tercel to Corky when he was located downtown. I bought a new Corolla and he moved to Round Rock. After my warranty expired, I took my Corolla to him in R.R. a couple times, but since I live South and I work two jobs, it was hard to find the time to go to R.R. I have to say that each and every time I have ever had a vehicle serviced by these guys I have been completed satisfied and after this experience, Champion Toyota has lost a customer for good and I will now find the time to go to John and Corky's for all my future auto service needs.

First of all, there used to be lots of reviews up on this business. Either there is a glitch in the City Search system, or it is allowing businesses to just cancel out posts and start over again... seems suspicious.

I ultimately had a very mixed experience here. They were honest on some things, but overall, I was disappointed with the work.

They convinced me I needed a new battery, because the charge was low in my existing one. I explained I rarely drive the car, and I didn't think it was a problem, but they were really insistent. So, they sold me a battery that was about $85 and told me, "It's warrantied-, if there's ever a problem we'll take it back." After installation my car was lurching and dying just a few blocks after I left them...I subsequently discovered this was due to the fact that they had failed to let the car's computers reset, which on my car takes around 15 minutes. Seems like they should have known that--my car is a very standard Japanese brand--and it was incredibly dangerous to let me drive off without that occurring.... what if I had been on the freeway? About 7 months later, the new battery totally died. It was cold and I had gone out of town for 2 weeks. I tried to get J&C to honor warranty -- and they refused---they said I would have to tow the car to Round Rock to have them do alternator testing. If I disconnected the battery, they refused to honor the warranty. I ended up having a mobile mechanic come out and install a new, cheaper battery from Auto Zone, and it has worked perfectly for the last 6 months. So, I got sold a shoddy battery for no reason, had a ton of hassle, and they didn't honor the warranty as they had promised. Moreover, I had originally come to them for a check engine light that Auto Zone's computer said was an exhaust problem. That was NOT fixed. The light came on again a couple months after I went. I spent as much as I would have at the dealer ... and nothing got fixed. I won't be going back to this place.
