You cannot go to St. Louis without going up in the Arch. The wait is fairly long but there is a museum at the bottom of the arch for you to look through to help pass the time until your time to ride up to the top. Although I would not recommend riding up to people that don't like to be confined in a small space since you have to take a very small elevator type thing to the top. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the top and it's quite noisy and rocky but the ride is worth it though because the view from the top is breathtaking.

If you are in St. Louis you simply must see the Arch. It is a monument like no other. The area around it is beautiful and when you go inside the arch it is breathtaking. The ride to the top is jerky and unnerving but once you step out of the elevator on the top floor you know the ride was worth it. You absolutely must see it!

A must-do adventure for all tourists in St. Louis. You can purchase your tickets online, so you can avoid at least one of the lines under the arch. Be prepared to wait in a line to get inside because everyone must go through a metal detector. The ride to the arch is neat, you are in a 5 person little "elevator"; very small and cramped but you are only in there for a minute (if that). The view is amazing and pictures turn out really nice. It's not as cramped up there as I thought it would be, but there are still a lot of people in a little space.

The Gateway Arch is the world famous landmark in downtown St. Louis right alongside the Mississippi River. The view afforded by a trip to the top is magnificent, especially on clear days, but the elevator may not be appropriate for those that are claustrophobic. The wait may be long, especially on the weekends, but is well worth it.

Also a tourist tip: if you lay on the ground near the arch, you can usually take a picture of someone and still get the whole arch behind them.

PROS: Beautiful views
CONS: Long waits

When you come to St. Louis, you HAVE TO go to the Arch. They have a museum underground, and you have to ride to the top and look out over St. Louis. Its inside this little "egg" elevator. My brother and I always joked about riding the egg. The museum below used to be pretty old and boring. Im not sure if its been updated recently. And they had a movie theater where you could watch the builing of the arch. That is really interesting.

The Arch museum seems harmless enough, but once you pay they show you the REAL way you are going to get up into this massive monument - a tiny capsule sure to invoke clostraphobia in anyone. Once you arrive at the top, a series of windows on both sides lets you look down on the city - just watch out for windy days.

When in St. Louis The Arch is a must see at least once in your life time. There is a museum inside that you can look at, but is nothing but pictures and still contructions.
The ride up the arch is very cramped with 6 people mashed inside a cart. And you have to sit there for over 5 min all the way up.They rock as your going up because of the Arches curve. When you get to the top and look out the windows, it's like looking through a telescope, the people looks like ants, you can see practically all of St. Louis and the Mississppi looks enormous. The view is spectacular and breathtaking. The large park grounds Are beautifully manicured.

The Arch is famous for being the "Gateway to the West" and it is a very unique and cool site to visit. You can go up into the Arch, although it isn't for anyone who doesn't like enclosed tight spaces. The view though at the top is pretty neat.

The museum under the Arch is also very interesting and a nice place to tour. The museum is free but the Arch is not if you want to go to the top.

The grounds around the arch are at the Mississippi Riverfront, where there is a lot to see and do.

This is amazing to see! It's way bigger than imagined. You can ride to the top of the arch and view the city. There is also a small museum on the Arch grounds.

The Gateway Arch riverfront is a gorgeous, historical, area of St. Louis. The part is so serene and beautiful and the surrounding architecture is breathtaking. It's a nice place to have a picnic lunch and forget that your right in the middle of a major US city.

PROS: Beautiful landscaping
CONS: Flooding

You can not leave St. Louis without visting The Arch. This piece of work is over 630 feet tall. And you can see for about 30 miles from the top of the structure. It is truely an amazing site to see. The actual trip up the arch takes several minutes so be prepared. If you choose you can take a tour that includes a documentary film on the building of the Arch, a visit to the Museum of Westward Expansion and see the Old Courthouse. Admission for just the Arch is 8 dollars for adults, 5 dollars for kids 13-16, 3 dollars for kids 3-12.

The Gateway Arch is a great attraction to visit. Even if you are afraid of heights, and do not want to ride the tram to the top, you need to visit this location! The FREE museum under the arch is full of westward movement artifacts. It is a neat sight in itself. Great view of the river.

You've seen pictures, but nothing is like seeing it in person. The ride up was a little scary, but you'll make it!! Once your up there the view is breath taking!
Its $10.00 a person. I didn't see the film but I wish I would have.

I enjoyed the true history of this area. It gave such clear examples of what things were like and how they worked during the times of covered wagons.

The Arch have a pretty views from the top of it and you can see the cardinals stadium, the dome where the rams play, the mississippi river and well all around, We basically were to the top to take pictures with the kids and to have the experience to be there, also the museum at the bottom of the arch is interesting.

PROS: Great View and Education on History
CONS: Heights (of you are afraid), small elevators and long waiting time!

... if you're afraid of heights! It is truely amazing to be *standing* at a height of 630 feet! I highly recommend the tram ride! There's only two disadvantages to this place:
#1: not wheelchair accessable
#2: The prices- an adult can go anywhere from $7-20.
P.S. If you take the tram ride to the top, be ready for a bumpy ride! It looks similiar to an elevator, but it not only goes up and down, but also side to side!
