My husband and I frequent Mario's because of the Bolognese sauce! It is out of this world! I would also recommend the Minestrone and Cream of Onion soups! The texture in the soups is just perfect!

With a large group seated on the patio for lunch the service was good. The pasta bar was loaded with choices. Everyone got what they wanted. Sandwiches also got rave reviews. We are going back again.

Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant. We went there with a $25 gift certificate which the owner refused to honor, even though it was specifically for his restaurant. Not only did he refuse to honor it, but he was also rude and abrasive in his refusal after we asked our waitress to see him. For a restaurant owner to think so little of his patrons and treat them in this manner is beyond reason and is inexcusable.

The food was so-so, but overpriced for this type of restaurant. The silverware was not very clean, and seeing that takes away from your appetite. The ambiance left something to be desired. You would expect to see a large-screen TV in a sports bar, not in a place like what this pretends to be. Not going back, ever.

We took friends to dinner and were highly disappointed! Food was standard fare nothing like it use to be. Nothing like the 5 star restraurant that we were proud to take our friends to. We were actually embarassed of the food and service. We live in Troy and will never go back!

This restaurant was recommended to me by my parents who love the Detroit location. When we 1st began frequenting the Troy location I was immediately in love w/their food & especially the pasta bar. After several visits later (w/in the past year & a half) I began experiencing an all too common problem w/the service & management. We constantly have to request bus-boys for refills on beverages, bread, or olive oil sauce. Many times these individuals forget & we end up waiting. I am currently pregnant & requested the non smoking section that would be furthest away from the bar or smoking area. A half an hour after being seated (mind you we were the only customers in the main dining room area) they sat a couple in front of the big screen tv that began smoking. We had to ask for our dinner to go because after telling the manager he did nothing. This occurrence was in 9/07. A month ago I was put on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy & I called Marios this evening (11/14/07) for a carry out. I explained my situation to the manager & wondered if they could accommodate me with 1 serving of pasta from the pasta bar, which I would have my husband pick up. I anticipated paying for the full price of the pasta bar & did not want any of the other trimmings. The manager told me that the pasta bar is for dining-in guests ONLY. I again explained that I was CRAVING their wonderful pasta, that the chef cooks right there, @ the pasta bar & wondered if he could accommodate me due to my situation. He told me no. He then said that I could order a carry out from their regular carry out menu. I ordered my pasta from a waitress, the way I usually get it from the pasta bar. A couple of minutes after ordering, Marios called back & she stated that the manager is making me pay 1.00 for each topping on my pasta other than the sauce. That would be 1.00 for basil, 1.00 for pine nuts, 1.00 for garlic, etc. She totaled it to an extra 6.00 for my pasta dish. I was so appalled!!! If this is the way they treat loyal paying customers, they apparently do not care for their guests. I was so upset I decided to read the reviews that they have & realize that I am not the only disappointed customer that has left their establishment. I would definitely NOT recommend Marios in Troy, due to their total disregard for their customers!

My husband and I were just there tonight for dinner, and it was the WORST service, we have ever received. For starters, our waitress only came by once ( to take our order) I had to ask the busboys to bring us bread/refills on drinks.

Second, the restaurant was not crowded at all, and it took over an hour for us to receive our meal. I was so upset, I told the manager to give us our food to go. In my opinion, he was very unprofessional, and didn't really seem to care that his customers were upset.

In addition, the busboys/waitstaff were constantly arguing on in the dining area, right in front of the customers! Very unprofessional, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!

Went on Sunday 12-02-06, for birthday dinner and was unpleasantly surprised. Mario's in Detroit owned by Vince's father is one of our favorite places to eat, get full pampering and the best service in Michigan! We decided to try the one in Troy(closer to home than Detroit) and know now it is worth the drive to Detroit.I love salt, but when we got the bread before dinner, it was even too salty for me. The minestrone soup was just as salty, but we couldn't even eat bread to mask the soup. We told the wait person, who told the manager, who came to the table to attend to our complaint. He said he would check the bread and soup. He did in fact, while bring a piece of bread to the table and eating it in the dining area.He agreed that it twas salty, but never apologized about the food. I did not like the big screen tv, because I did not to intend to take my mom to a dinner/sports bar. And did not like the manager walking in the dining area with his cell phone blaring out.I would never recommend or try this place again, and as I said before Mario's in Detroit is well worth the drive.

this is one of the best italian cuisine restaurants around-there is alot of food served -courses-with your meal. they have entertainment on weekends-outside dining also. We were just there on july 4th weekend and the service was terrible, but not due to their fault. Waitstaff called in sick for the holiday-do not go there on any holidays, there was never a problem before. there is a big parking lot and restrooms are clean. also there is a big bar to sit at.
