Lifetime Fitness

If you join this gym, you're on your own. The staff is young, inexperienced, and rude, as are the trainers. They seem profoundly unhappy to work there, are never on time for appointments, and the level of expertise is highly limited. Remember, this gym is run by a huge conglomerate whose corporate culture is obviously more focused on the bottom line than providing a high level of qualified service. The facility is nice though. It is close to my house, so like going there - as long as I don't have to interact with the staff in any way.

I recently joined Lifetime to increase my strength, flexibility and have encouragement on a life-change eating plan (yeast free). My first appointment for an evaluation and recommendations was disorganized although it was a scheduled time. I waited 15 minutes, the trainer was with another customer and switched me to a different person and finally a third trainer was called over to take over the consult. The computer was out of ink, therefore, none of my results were printed and the rest of the consult was based on the results. No visuals, no graphs, no statistics, that were for me to see and discuss.The trainer suggested programs that may accommodate my limitations resulted in an increase in pain and a decrease of mobility.

The groups were disappointing as I hoped for cohorts along with the membership. I now feel in looking back it was a money issue more than a place to connect, change, and grow. Could be the social worker in me and expectations thinking there would be friendly members and staff.

For individuals that have limitations, seek another way to address your needs.

My family has belonged to several fitness facilities in different states and we recently moved to Sugar Land and joined Lifetime Fitness. Lifetime Fitness is by far the nicest place we've ever worked out. My children LOVE going there. The staff at the Kid's Club are terrific...they interact with the children so that it is fun and interesting for our children to be there. Our children can play in several play areas, use a Mac computer, or watch children's television (we try to discourage that last option because it seems a shame to be at a fitness facility watching TV!). We like to eat at the Cafe, I've enjoyed a massage at the Spa, and my husband had his hair cut while the rest of the family exercised. My son is signed up for soccer and swimming lessons. I plan to practice yoga. There seems to be something for everyone at Lifetime. The monthly cost is not inexpensive but not horrible, either, considering how large and clean and attractive the facility is. We are very pleased to be members and we've never encountered any of the customer service difficulties described by other reviewers. If you aren't already a member, check it out.

I have to agree with Karen B. Even after a year there still needs to be much improvement in the way they treat the client.

Visit prior to joining (without the membership manager present) and determine for yourself.

I love this gym, and so does my family. Every one in the childcare center is great. The facility is very nice, and unlike a previous reviewer stated, the women's locker room does smell.....but not too bad. Management is aloof, and half the time you're not even acknowledge. I have asked over 2 months now to add my daughter to my account, and they still haven't done so after I provided them with proof that she's my biological child. Management should be a little more organized.

I've been a member since they opened up this gym. Yes, their facility is nice for the kids and adults. I went their with my kids yesterday ( 6/28/06 ) and I forgot to bring my membership card so I wasn't allowed entry into the club. Even though, they looked me up on the computer and my face was a match as the member in question.

PROS: NIce Aqua Center
CONS: Very crowded, Rude Management,

This place is more than just a gym, it's like a mini-resort! There is indoor and outdoor swimming, complete with water slides. The exercise facility has plenty of equipment and is clean with no "gym" smell. There is basketball and raquetball, various exercise and training classes and free child care. There is even a cafe and spa inside! This is a great place to get fit if you have a bit of disposable income.

PROS: Every amenity available!
CONS: A bit pricey for those on a budget.
