Bhambi's Custom Tailors Ltd

I selected Bhambi's to alter a newly purchased Canali suit on the strength of CitySearch reviews. I wanted to find a top-notch tailor that I could also use for future custom suits/jackets.

First, they were extemely friendly. I have not gone to a custom shop before and was afraid that staff would either be pushy and/or condescending. My fears were unfounded.

Lal showed me the backroom where all suits are made. He showed me some of the fabrics he'd suggest for a (eventual) gray sportcoat. He obviously takes a lot of pride in the shop (I presume) he's built.

Harry took the time to ask me questions and get to know me a bit. Keep in mind - this was all on an alterations (not custom) job.

Sam took my measurements and returned the suit within 2 working days. All I can guess is that they all worked on Labor Day. It is a wonderful job and fits like it was made for me.

They all shook hands. They all made eye-contact.

I can say that the job cost more than I've paid for alterations but each "line item" alteration (e.g. hem, shoulders, waist, sleeves) was very reasonable on its own. It's just that they knew what needed to be done to make it look great - not just good.

I will be going back for custom pieces as soon as I'm able. I expect that Bhambi's is the type of place that will settle for nothing less than 100% delight from its clients; therefore, no risk in spending the hard-earned money for custom garments.

The whole staff is extremely friendly in addition to the quality of craftsmanship exhibited in their work. They have a great selection of Italian and British fabrics to start with and the patience to work with you in any sartorial details you desire. They use full canvas that hangs extremely well.

They can get fairly busy but they will always be up-front to when and how long it would take to finish alterations or custom products.

The price equate the quality but if you have had any item of clothin ruined before, you know doing the job right the first time is worth the paying a little bit more.

Pros: Customer service...which is often forgotten in a place like NYC

My friend recommended Bhambi?s when I asked where I should get a suit made. After I had my first fitting I knew why he did not recommend any other place.

Pros: Bhambi's has a very large selection of amazing fabrics

My boyfriend and I have had at least 5 suits between the two of us tailored here, and every single one has come back fitting us perfectly. They are very professional and pay great attention to detail. If it matters, they also boast celebrity clientele. I wouldn't trust my suits (or even dresses, if I had any I needed tailored) to anyone else.

I was in a wedding where the bride ordered her bridesmaids dresses from a fancy designer whose largest size was, needless to say, not large enough to zip up on me. (To tight in the chest-- the horror.) I ordered extra fabric, and Bhambi was able to completely rebuild the top of the dress so that it zipped up-- a miracle worker, really. The only drawback-- it was expensive. But the other tailors I took it to first seemed unsure as to whether the dress would look exactly the same afterwards (they wanted to simply put an additional panel material in, thus making it look different from the other bridesmaids.) In the end, the dress fit great and it was worth the price.

I have been using Bhambi's for about a year now. I would trust them with anything from a pair of jeans to my favorite little black dress. Some may think the prices are a little higher, but I'd rather pay more than worry about how it will turn out.

We have been using them for a couple of years now and they do a very good job in making my husbands suits.

I had just moved here from Washington with my girlfriend at the time. I was looking for a nice custom made suit for a few occassions I needed to attend. I had a very good tailor in Washington when I had left there. I had been to a few tailors that had claimed they use the best fabrics, when I met Mr Bhambi and saw his fabrics and I knew I was in the right place. That was about 4 years ago, now I have all my suits made there. I usually don't recommend things but If you need something done right with quality workmanship I definaley recommend these guys.
